I am thinking the way this works is that to determine the initial value of each of these stats we combine them and the value of the new stat is based on that. However, it won't go up as we continue to increase those stats, we will have to put points into them once we've unlocked them. So it's best to not actually unlock them until we need them for the most efficiency and highest stat totals.
