So first I was like "Wow, Dirk owns more than Dave at this game" and then I was like "oh no hussie you're making all the terrible fans make bucket jokes" and then I was laughing and crying and scared at the same time because Dirk and then I was like "Dirk's so amazing he is like a genius look at him" and then I was like "HAHAHAHAHAHAH JANE."
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHSHSKDLGJKLDGN. K, I'm good.
MY ASK FEFERI'S VOICE BLOG:http://askfefpeixesvoice.tumblr.com/
i literally sat there flailing my arms about going "WHAT?!" for like a minute
Ok, this is gonna sound so fangirl-y, but while I was watching this I was going "Man, Dirk is such an outrageously cool dude" like a chump. But y'know, I kinda had a feeling that Dirk wasn't actually gay-gay for Jake [tumblr is in flames right now]. All along he was just prepping him cuz he knew this was how it was gonna go down. And look at where Dirk is in the game so far: he's brought-to-life-made-out with both female characters within minutes of each other.

I cracked up when Dirk decapitated himself with the mini-transportalizer... I laughed in a sort of "what the shit that came right the fuck out of nowhere" way. (Though, of course, it didn't really come out of nowhere. There was just enough foreshadowing to overlook: Spades grumbling about the prison cell transportalizers being used for suicide and Dirk mentioning that he could just barely fit the brobot's noggin in there.)
I cracked up harder, though, at Jake making out with a severed head as a volcano erupts and a breeze sets his dorky jacked aflutter. Pure Hollywood.
OMG THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!!!![]()
My favorite moment was definitely realizing it was Dirk that splashed the water on Jake. Definite “stand-up-and-shout-YES!!” time
(That, and the expressions on Jane's and Roxy's faces at the very end)
God, thinking back on it, I totally thought Dirk tried to transportalize his entire self, but failed miserably. I was like "seriously Dirk? I expect much better from you". But after AR started talking, I was like "oh nvrmind, I'm a dumbass". Goddamn it Dirk, you're making Bro look bad.
idk, that's like a really cynical interpretation, I mean that's portending that Jake would be more inclined to kiss Dirk's severed head if he had feelings for him, but obviously he's even more trepidatious about kissing the severed head of some guy that makes his kokoro go all dokidoki. If he didn't set up feels, it'd probably be more likely that Jake would've more readily man'd the fuck up (or took the no homo approach) and kiss his bff's head for the sake of everyone.
Also, you have to remember that none of this was according to plan, like dream Dirk was genuinely surprised that Jake and Jane showed up on Derse. If we can blame anyone it's AR, who so callously let Jake and Jane to to Derse to begin with. He practically let them go, therefore 'causing Unite Synchronization to happen. Either he knows more than he's letting on, or his horny 13-y-o mentality got the best of everyone.
edit: I guess I should also say that I'd be pretty upset if Dirk turned out not to like guys. I mean geez, all that set up for bullshit. I don't even like the yaois, I just think they'd make a better pairing than Jake/Jane.
Dirk Strider for man of the year 2424.
that is all.
But that's not trolling, Hussie has said time and time again that seeing interesting plot-shit through isn't trolling, it's telling a story. I don't think most people realize how fucked up his sense of humor can be.
Finding humor in making someone sad is pretty much the definition of being a troll. Though I agree with your first sentence: seeing stuff through is not trolling. It's only trolling if his point is to piss of the fans, something I've not seen from him, despite people claiming he's a troll.

I meant in the sense of throwing a huge masquerade for the sake of a plot point. Like the Tumor creating the Green Sun, that whole debacle was foreseeable if you paid careful attention to what people were actually saying, but if you took it at face value it's surprising (but underwhelmingly so 'cause you'd probably facepalm at yourself at the same time).
And that is how Dirk became my favorite post-scratch kid. The end. Even though he's probably going to do more awesome shit later.
I'm still in the unpopular "Jane's the best, but Dirk? Meh." camp. Of all the kids, Jane has the most potential for character development and expansion. Let's face it: Squarewave is more interesting than Dirk is at this point. Having said that, Squarewave is pretty much the best side character introduced so far.
I don't think that character development and Sburb class roles necessarily go hand-in-hand. I find Jane's complete lack of exceptional circumstance to be the very reason why she's likely to develop the most. She's the only skeptic in the group and the only one who doesn't "see the world" so to speak. In a lot of ways she's the opposite of John in that while John never actually "knew" his father, Jane essentially only knows her father. She's been sheltered by her father, guardian'd by God Cat, coddled by Crocker Corp, nannied by Dirk and Lil Seb, and constantly encouraged and fed positive energy by her friends and Calliope. The closest thing she's come to conflict is Dirk's whole Batterwitch thing and her relationship rhombus.
Even when she entered the game she was in a zone completely void of conflict, and Lil Seb and Auto Responder/Lil Hal did the majority of the work for her. The most she did was do some thinking while Hal/Seb pulled most of the weight, which is entirely within her comfort zone and within her element. Even if we want to bring SBurb class aspects into it, her dream self was murdered and it pretty much didn't matter as she just came back to life anyway. Her entire universe protects and coddles her. She's never really left her own protective bubble. One of these days (most likely sooner than later), it's going to come crashing down.
None of the other Alpha kids have anything close to that level of build up, planning and character potential. She might be a bit cut and dry, but she's the one I'm the most excited to watch as her story is potentially the highlight of the entire Alpha kid bunch. Dirk's basically just been "rad" by necessity, and hasn't exactly done anything other than be a really flashy plot device. The Alpha kids would arguably have had an easier time getting into the game without Dirk. I'm not saying that he's a non-contributing member of the team or that he's a problem or anything, but his involvement has pretty much consistently thrown things to shit.
I was only joking when I said Hussie was a troll, sorry for stirring things up.
But anyway, I do think that all characters are good. I'm not joining any 'x-character is meh, everyone else is cool' camps anytime soon. I can't wait for more character development along the way. SOOOO stoked for the next flash... Though, I've got the sneaking suspision that shiznit's gonna get so crazy, we're gonna need this thread in the worst possible way.
Man I was skeptical about the Alpha kids but now I think I love each one of them.![]()

I'm also not usually one for shipping, but Dirk/Jake is something I have major feels for. Kisses made me happy even if they were completely fucked up![]()
