This is a tough one, since the Sim may have been helping you by removing that mask. Then again, it kills a bunch of people so it may have just been trying to remove your face.

Honestly, I don't think you should try and help them kill it till you know a bit more. Refuse to help them unless they go down a different hallway. Convince them that without your help, they'll all die, seeing as only you can sense this thing

Fire a single shot or two at each vent, if its there it should jump out at that. If nothing, continue through, with 360 degree coverage by team. Keep Ms. Colbert in the middle, keeping her most protected. Have atleast one gun, if not more trained on each vent.

Don't just go in, then it can jump out and kill someone, and run off. Chances are, it already knows you're here. Fire a shot or two at each vent, see what happens. If nothing happens, go through cautiously, covering each vent. Have 2 soldiers, each covering a side, then Lucy, then more soldiers behind her, covering the vents as well.
