It probably does. I think it's like you have a base element (in this case the first prototyping, the clown harlequin) and you add another element to it, so the original changes. As you add more elements, the base deviates more and more from what it originally was. We hardly see any of the other prototypings besides the bird and Bec.

I'm sure there's a way you could word that better.

It's the princess in him. It is helping him stay behaved if those urges arise.

John literally had no idea was was going on. Jane too, to the extent that a) the people who did know weren't being forthcoming with information and b) she was pretty much rushed into the situation.
Rose, Jade, Dirk, and Jake had no neighbors.

The only person who could otherwise be concerned with bringing neighbors along was Dave, and I even wonder how much contact he had with anyone outside his apartment building.

Rose, Jake, Dirk and Jade don't live nearby anyone, and Jane's neighborhood was fine, unless someone got caught in the crossfire of an assassination attempt on Jane's life. John, Roxy, and Dave we're the only ones with neighbors in danger.

I don't think John really understood that the world was ending at first, and by the time he did, he had other things to worry about, and Roxy is doing her best.
Dave's neighbors were either fleeing, or already gone. Judging from the fact that the meteor got either side of the area, he probably didn't have any neighbors left, anyway. /shrugs

His tentacles can be formed at will, as seen when he carried Jade to her quest bed in "[S] Cascade". As for the cat features, perhaps being prototyped with two similar objects overwrites the first one? Or maybe he has cat claws. As for Harlequin and Princess prototypings, those are outfits, which he tore off in "[S] Jack: Ascend".

He didn't tear off the Harlequin and Princess prototypings in Ascend, he tore off his own clothing pre-prototyping. The Harlequin hat remained until Jade Enter.

It might be that Bec's strength as a first guardian overpowered previous prototypings and that if he'd been a normal dog, there might still be effects from the Harlequin/Princess/Cat. Or, Jack might have had enough control over his first guardian powers in that first moment to decide what he wanted the effects to be. Having said that, if that was the case, I'm sure he could have got another arm from somewhere.

Eh, whatever. Maybe they can change what they use, but only to an extent. ((They can't get back their arm, but they can hide the tentacles.)) That is, things that are removed can't be brought back, but things that are added can be hidden.
Like a way to even out the tables.

But certain things don't. Like, a headless doll, or something missing a needed or vital body part wouldn't remove a head, so it would automatically become an outer prototype, or something that changes their outfit.
It might even give them the ability to remove their head at will!

But the thing is, we don't know until we try.
So far, the only things that will make the Black Royals remove their prototyping are frogs.
And even that can be overwritten by something else.

So, ideally, a four player session should all prototype something hated or harmless for the best advantage.
Frogs, Perfectly Generic Objects, or something silly like a box of tissues or cotton balls.

John had all of 4 minutes, 13 seconds to hurry up and enter. It's not like he had time to dick around with the neighbors. Jade and Rose both lived in remote locations. Dave was busy with trying to ascend when he should have just waited and let the damn thing hatch. Dave could have possibly saved some people I guess...

This is why I love Roxy. SHe's very courageous and is willing to risk her life for her own community and friends. She'll ascend to God Tier pretty quick, poor thing.
