I just beat Red709 2-0 (But both matches were very close, specially the first one, good duels, man. No drama, went fair and square, and you played well. Dat Gem Merchant.)

Also, I really don't think I'm a good judge at all, so maybe DD can judge this one? Or anybody who knows their rulings, at least. I'm hoping for an audience in watcher's, though, so we may be fine.

Yeah I'm good to judge. We should probably plan this duel ahead of time anyway, people will probably want to watch. How is Friday around 5/8 pm (EST/PST), or I can do any other time that evening if that doesn't work.

I am going to be gone for the next four days (vacation) and as such will be unable to commit to any duels during that period of time.

I apologize, but its not like we aren't used to waits by now. When I am back we can finish this and maybe start another tourney, because so far this one has been a blast.

Theme decks still sound great but I really wanted to use my gusto or Genex... lol

Omigosh I just pulled off the SICKEST combo and I cannot let it go to waste

Okay so I was playing Ice Barriers and the guy had 2 cards on the field, Card Trader(Continuous spell) And a set card. He was probably playing chaos Blue-Eyes/Red-Eyes because of his Lightsworns and B. chicks

So I had Dewloren, Tiger King of the Ice Barrier on the field, right? I had 2 Ice Barriers in my hand, Warlock and Sacred Spirit, and I used Prior's effect (My only other monster on the field) to get Dance Princess back. But instead of using her effect, I used Dewloren's, bringing a continuous spell card I had AND Dance Princess to my hand, leaving Dewloren at 3000 ATK.

Then... I had 3 in my hand. 3 Ice Barriers. That is all you need for MAGIC TRIANGLE BITCH

So I destroyed his face-down (Bottomless Trap Hole) and summoned Dance Princess. Then, I Monster Reborn'd Cryomancer from the grave to synchro Brionac. So I have 2 level 6 synchros. Nice.

I used Brionac's effect to return Card Trader to the hand - by discarding WARLOCK. Right after that, I summoned DEBRIS FRIKKIN' DRAGON. It brings Warlock right out of the grave, and I synchro for Gungnir. With no cards on his field and with enough ATK to take out 7800 LP, I bring him down with direct attacks from a trio of Ice Barrier synchros.

And that entire duel, I did not get THIS or THIS.

I'm sorry. I just cannot let this siiick combo go without saving it somewhere. Dear god that was epic.

It's the fact you are using Ice Barriers (Which I hear are pretty bad in the meta.) which makes this story amazing.

they're only bad in the current advanced meta. when they came out, they were insane - 2 of their 4 synchros have a card limit and another is forbidden altogether now! course, yena's deck is traditional based...

Tho personally I think that Double Dia boost I pulled on you was better, Sin

How did I pull that off again, exactly? all I remember is managing to summon two Master Dia simultaneously, give one Ruby's effect and then sacrifice Dia 2 for Dia-Ruby's power boost effect

I I actually realized that if I had enough gem knights in my hand, field or grave and the right fusion cards I could probably get three Dia out at once easy

hell, turn one Dia is literally the easiest thing
draw three gemknights and fusion? 3200 Dia at your service


also a thought for future tourneys: I'm assuming everyone who was in this one wants a spot in the next one, so should we make it a slightly bigger tourney than last time? and who's gonna make the topic? we could start the new topic now, even

btw, I've heard Riou uses a "Chaos Dragons" deck

everyone was saying how OP it is but

I bet a REAL Chaos deck would wipe the floor with it

not some wimpy imitation Konami made
I mean the REAL "Chaos" deck, as in Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy Of The End

for those who DON'T remember those decks, Chaos Emperor Dragon is banned (forbidden) as fuck and has been since the end of the first International tournament following its release. why? simple. It's a 3000 atk Nomi monster that can "only be special summoned by removing from play (banish) one LIGHT and one DARK monster in your graveyard" and an effect that, for 1000 LP, destroys the entire field AND both player's hands, then does 300 damage to the opponent for each card sent to the grave. Needless to say, it could OTK effortlessly back then, when "remove from play" was mostly a strange, hard to defend against new mechanic (lol)

I think I'll enter the next tournament. It'd also be good if we could schedule like four days that everyone was available and then just do a match a day. That we it wouldn't take forever.

I think one of the big problems with Riou's CD deck (along with a few others that apparently weren't quite as bad) is that they were theme decks in the vaguest sense of the word - and those of us who followed the original rules to the (or almost to the) letter had some problems competing with decks like it. I mean sure, the monsters all fit under an 'all dragons' or 'all machines' or 'all earth type' format, but the spells and traps were all overpowered and overused standards that didn't fit their themes, like Space Typhoon, Fusion City, Stupid Jerk Scarecrow, Bottomless Trap Hole, etc.

Also yes I remember Chaos Emperor Dragon, I think there's still one sitting around somewhere in my house actually. What a fun guy. Still, nothing beats the feeling of turning someone's hard played and brilliant strategy against them.

Firstly, Mystical Space Typhoon, Future Fusion, Scrap Iron Scarecrow

Second, it was less that it wasn't really a theme deck or anything involving this tournament, rather it was along the lines that I'd heard multiple people saying that his Chaos Dragons deck was OP even for their normal, more meta decks! which
kind of made me laugh because "Chaos" decks just aren't as fun without the Original cards

I remember when they banned every single main archetype card in the deck except Chaos Sorcerer for a while
and then some guy went and took a Chaos deck with just that one legal Chaos Sorcerer and STILL won a national
the Tourney officials were probably cursing the whole time, lol

On a completely seperate note, anyone who's on right now I challenge you to a duel because gods I'm bored

I think I used style like Black Hole and Mystical Space Typhoon and Oozaki or however you spell that last one, even though I had a Harpie deck. I did have Treaty of Uniform Nomenclature, so that fit, but a lot of my traps or spells weren't just for Wind monsters or Winged Beasts or Harpies.


Though considering this was only around my 4th or so game ever, I don't think I did too badly. Some of you really beat me good though.
