So here's some thing I was thinking might have some symbolic importance:
Vriska uses her manipul8tion to make kids fall asleep. Aranea uses it to make them w8ke up.
Come to think of it, Vriska blinded Terezi and Aranea has the capacity to unblind her.
It's almost like the purpose of Aranea is to undo everything Vriska does?

I'm having one of those nights.
Although partially fueled by this flash, and it magnifying my dislike of Dirk and his stoicness, and how that flash would be so much cooler if he was expressive and actually displayed emotions like Roxy or Vriska would.
And it reminds me how yeah the story overall just hasn't been nearly as compelling without Vriska in it. The plot movers here have yet to be interesting enough, although they've been somewhat entertaining I guess?
And I rant about how stupid the fanon figures for Vriska and Aradia are (they're backwards!) but that's silly.
And then I get worried that I read Homestuck wrong, and I'm spitefully hating Kanaya for having a stupid plot device revival, or spiteful against Aradia for fanon things, or spiteful against Dave and Rose for being major characters that did not die when it would have been totally awesome for them to do so. Then get worried that all I see John as is a plot device for Vriska's development.
But I'm probably exaggerating my fears here. But the hint of doubt bugs me.
Vriska's so awesome that she ruins the comic when she's not the focus of it. And that's stupid.
Anyways. Get to reviving, Serket.
So I have an interesting topic, sort of? I guess.
So we know Darkleer, Equius' ancestor and all was in debt to Mindfang for saving him from the Highbloods (unless I'm wrong, in which case disregard this). Does this imply Vriska should have come to Equius' aid, or that she had the capability to save him? After all, Gamzee did admit he was scared of Vriska.
I don't think it was ever specified WHAT Darkleer owed Mindfang for.
And, I don't think that has any real connection to the descendents, other then Vriska getting similar help from Equius when she needed it.
Although I do wonder what Vriska felt about Equius. Like, she was pissed at him for backstabbing him, but she's usually pretty forgiving about stuff like that. Did she still consider him a friend?
Okay, well the thing is that while the ancestors aren't being relived through the kids, it is a mantle that's passed down to them and Vriska certainly tries to live like her ancestor. She even had a mindfang costume and everything.
So the relevance is there, and also more to my original point: Did Vriska have the power to stop Gamzee, if she wasn't so busy juggling flaming metal like she'd just introduced potassium to a bathtub?
As for Equius, I think they were on good terms. Although I think from Equius' perspective, it was because of the hemospectrum and since he was coming around thanks to the Aradia situation, he was probably losing his trust in her, and vice versa. The whole revenge cycle and "make her pay" incident was probably enough to turn Equius, since Vriska really was quite manipulative and I'm sure Equius' dealings with her in the past were tenative at best.
Vriska is going to recruit Equips in order to punch out a horror.
Trufax
I'm just tired of waiting.
The fact that this part of the comic is pretty much the only part of the comic I'd label "important" makes me feel kinda sad.
Like the non Vriska/Tavros parts might as well be exile shit at this point. It's cute and all but please go away and let us focus on the parts of the comic that matter plz.
Homestuck always had an issue with some of the less relevant plotlines.
Really, what did AR, WQ and WK end up accomplishing?
Also, Vriska/Dave is perfect pairing.
Dave's problem is that he isn't the best.
Vriska is the 8est. Vriska can teach Dave to be the second 8est. Which is good enough.
And Dave can teach Vriska to be less impulsive.
Everyone wins.
The problem becomes getting too attached to the wrong plotline.
Hell, some people felt like the Exile plotline was going to be the main one eventually. And I for one would be disappointed if the trolls took a back seat to the kids for the rest of the story, ESPECIALLY if the Beta kids just sorta overshadow the Alphas as soon as they arrive and make these main characters into minor ones.
But I find the main betas to be the least interesting of the three sets of kids.
I think the B2 crew will manage.
The trolls are still fairly relevant, so while the main four will always be the most important they'll won't fade away into obscurity.
Yeah, but I'd rather have Karkat/Vriska/Terezi/Kanaya be just as relevant as John/Jade/Rose/Dave.
Also I like how I have one character I despise out of each set of 4, and one I totally love, one other I mostly like, and one I'm sorta neutral about. It's a nice even comparison set.
Clearly you must bring balance to the Farce, young Landwalker.
I've heard people call Vriska selfish, and that's okay.
But to say "She only tries to help Aradia, Tavros, everyone out because she is selfish" is stupid as fuck.
Because at that point you can just call anybody else helping anybody else selfish. Kanaya was selfish in making that dress for Vriska because she just wanted Vriska to like her more. Dave and Rose were selfish when blowing themselves up because they wanted to leave a good legacy. That's a stupid argument and it's stupid when it's made.
