    Ask a Juggalo

ive been threatening to make this thread for a while, so here i go.

you have before you a rarity, folks. a lucid juggalo here to explain any question you may have. whats more, this particular juggalo can type thousands of pages without typing like a 6 year old girl texts, or flipping his shit and having some sort of flip-out meltdown.

about me: ive been down since 96 or 97. all of my friends were also juggalos. ive been to a couple of gatherings. more than a few shows. i was of the first generation of juggalos in my town. pretty sure i'm qualified to field anything you have burning your curiosity lobes.

some initial background, i can answer just about anything pertaining to juggalos, ICP, psychopathic records, or related topics. but it must be remembered that while some things are shared cross-subculture, and thus define us as a subculture, many of the specifics are generated at the local level. i'll preface such statements as apply to only my crew.

    so, fire away.

Is Gamzee (when sopored) at all a faithful interpretation of members of the juggalo crowd, or is he mostly a parody?

Also, out of Juggalo Homestucks, what do you think of the ICP becoming the anti-messiahs in-story and destroying half of Western civilization?

How much does your Juggalo lifestyle affect your normal private life? Is it sort of like "office job by day, Juggalo at night"?

gamzee is more of a stoner parody/reference when sopored. he does have some traits i would mark down as juggalo-ish, but he inverts many of the basic concepts. take his early chat with equius. while juggalos are usually loyal to their friends to a fault, individuality is prized. there is a prevalent attitude of "if you do not like who i am, fuck you and fuck off". any one of my friends, or i myself, would not heed a request to kick one of our favorite bad habits.

as to presidents jay and dope, i think it's fucking awesome. it is slightly out of character, as ICP themselves have been fairly anti-corporation forever. on the other hand, it fulfills a major portion of juggalo mythology... when we rise up and slaughter the evil among us. also, of note, ICP themselves have songs that narrate themselves as behaving counter to their own values. they also fairly often make fun of themselves, and describe their own gory deaths.

i an not a very common type of juggalo. most never climb the echeladder as far as i have. for many it is just a phase. for me, it is my life.

it doesent affect my life much, aside from when someone asks me the meaning of my shirt, or i happen across another juggalo.

then again, my tattoos are all in places that are covered up by day to day clothing, and i feel no need to scream random profanities at all times.

you see, i have always been a juggalo, even before "juggalo" was even a word.

the common definition of "juggalo" is "a fan of ICP and/or psychopathic records". that's not the true meaning, though. i'm going to have to research the exact quote, but basically a juggalo is a certain type of person... they do not even have to like ICP. many people who could be described by this definition would not call themselves juggalos. its been a few years, but i believe the type of person was "usually poor, always has bad luck, and doesent give a fuck about much". i'll update the post later with the verbatim definition.

so yea, i dont THINK it affects me, but then again, i know no other life, so i cannot say for sure.

This is an awesome idea for a thread RAK.
I was wondering, Hussie's commented before about the impact of homestuck on juggalo stereotypes and how on the internet at least, you can hardly find anything remarking about juggalos without anything that started with Gamzee showing up. Have you seen this kind of change in the past few years about how people perceive them?

thank you. i have not noticed. i guess it depends on where you look. i see more "fuckin magnets" than i do stuff about gamzee. in all actuality, i never knew about gamzee at all until i was already reading homestuck, though it was terezi + vriska that got me into reading in the first place (a good friend of mine habitually uses terezi avatars, and comments on a chiptune song by vriska fans made me look up vriska and this crazy numerology thing)

the only change ive noticed is people reacting to the bad press that surrounds the group. and fuckin magnets.

i hate social networking, but let me check........

yes. yes it seems to be an actual website providing some sort of social networking service. i feel dirty for allowing my browser to display such tomfoolery.

    ***BONUS INFO***

at one time, psychopathic record put out an album about four card suite antagonists, called "tha soopa villains"

mr. diamond was super rich, and could shoot lazer beams from his jewelry. (violent j)
mr. club was a dj, he has razor records and shit. (shaggy 2 dope)
mr. heart .... well... mr heart could get into any woman's pants. to put it nicely. (lavel, he's a friend of ABK. after these albums, he became a born again christian, and sings gospel r&b)
mr. spade was all about (racist) hate. (esham, the unholy. the godfarther of "acid rap", which eventually became "horrorcore". every rapper from detroit will tell you they try to be like esham)

Another thing: are there any other well-known artists than the ICP which also fall under the tent of ICP culture, or are they just the dominant figures with nobody else really even present? Like... we all know that the ICP are huge in juggalo culture, but are there any other juggalo artists?

everyone else on psychopathic, and more.

for example, Twiztid, Anybody Killa (abk), Blaze ya Dead Homie, and Boondox. oh, and axe murder boys, and dj clay. there's also the non-music psychopathic people, like 2tuff tony, and corporal robinson from JCW, serious darius, tall jess, nate the mack, jumpsteady, rudeboy... all employees (or former employees) of psychopathic.

off the label, you have most folks at strange music (tech n9ne, prozak, mike e clark, grant rice, and big krizz calico)

esham as well. in a move strikingly similar to bethesda buying iD, at one point in time, psychopathic signed esham. he eventually went back to his own label (gotham) then retired and ran for mayor of detroit. i wish i could have voted in that election because mayor esham would be the motherfucking shit.

then there's suburban noize records (kottonmouth kings, other related acts)

mack 10, vanilla ice, old dirty bastard, three six mafia, and bone thugs n harmony have all collaborated, and most claim to be juggalos.

a personal hero of mine, kane hodder(played jason voorhees from friday the 13th 6 or 7 up till jason x) is publicly a juggalo. so is charlie sheen.

So like, what's your views on "Miracles" and the fact that ICP is trying to send this kinda-religious message of good and evil? For that matter, have you seen "Magical Mysteries"?

the song? dont like it. i dont really like much of the music ICP have been making for the last few albums. i dont hate on em for it, just not really the sound i like.

the quasi-religious message is good. it's personally helped me "be a better ninja". i am not religious at all myself, i primarily concern myself with things that can be proven as fact rather than must be taken as faith.

over the years, i have seen shit i have no way of explaining, but i do not attribute this to anything supernatural. there would be no impetus for discovery if there were no mysteries.

my views on this matter cannot be directly attributed to my being a juggalo. i am many other things, each a portion of the whole.

in addition to being a juggalo, i am also a disabled us army veteran. i was a cavalry trooper, which is to say, a branch of combat arms.

now, to actually answer the question.

and please note, there is no juggalo-wide view on this subject, each jugglo you ask this will give you a different answer, just like any other person in the world.

violence is sadly a necessity of life. there exist many people who are willing to use violence as a means of taking what they want. hell, there exist nations that do so. i know, i live in one. one must be prepared to use violence himself if one is to prevent those others from taking what he has.

in other situations, violence is the only response to an unbearable government. in fact, such violence is constitutionally sanctioned by nearly every state constitution, and is also the reason for the second amendment to the united states constitution.

normally, i am about the most nonviolent guy you can imagine. i will do almost anything to avoid a conflict. but if you assault me, i dont even have time to think about it, i just react. you cannot just shake off years of training and conditioning to be a living weapon.

now, if you were asking about violence in music, i feel it is a very good thing. cathartic. especially good for those teenage HORMONES and EMOTIONS that keep screwing things up. or for when you just wanna twist your boss' neck around. or if you dont stay as consistently shooshpap'd as me.

Your name is Jetroid, and your chumhandle is chronicGeomancer, or would be if you knew what Pesterchum was.
You enjoy reading online adventures in a variety of formats, from user driven text-based stories to full blown comics. You also enjoy video games.

ever since i can remember, ive had this fascination with CLOWNS OF A SINISTER NATURE. i must have watched killer klowns from outer space a hundred-fifty times when i was a kid, and my favorite book at 12 as "It" by stephan king. most of my doodles as a child revolved around a sinister jester, incidentally, that facepaint design became my own.

from the first minute i saw ICP in a rolling stone (describing the debacle with disney) while waiting at a public library to use the internet, i knew these were some guys who knew how to cater to my interests. not too long after that, i discovered the music. before ICP, i disliked rap. now, it is about the only type of music that has vocals that i listen to. other members of my close circle of friends independently discovered ICP, and we all knew we were juggalos.

we had all sorts of crazy fucking adventures. and you know what? "juggalo luck" gave every single one of us the life he never wanted to have. seriously. every single one of us is living the life he voiced that would be least desirable, in our glory days. huh. that's inexplicable. i never thought of that 'till just now.

I think you misunderstand me. "Magical Mysteries" was a parody of Miracles that was on SNL. It's on Hulu, here if you're willing to watch it.

    few times?

they've run their own promotion, jcw, for at least a decade now.

back in the day, when they got on wcw, wwf, and ecw was awesome.

also awesome are stranglemania 1 and 2.

its too bad they are both too banged up to really get in the ring anymore, that and rude boy is retired. i got to see his retirement match, the last time abdullah the butcher kicked the shit out of him and jammed a fork in his head repeatedly. it was also a "dog chain on the collar" match as well. it was beautiful.

yea, i liked their stint in wrestling, and i love the shit out of jcw.

    Re: Ask a Juggalo

my parents became religious fundamentalists when i was an adolescent. they strongly disapproved of the lyrics. my mother tries to make an effort to know about the things that i like. after finding out a little bit of what lurks under the surface of the music, she didnt hate me listening to it so much.

dont get me wrong, they do not like the music at all, but it does not bother them that i like it.

as for other aspects of being a juggalo, my family learned a long time before ICP was rapping that i am my own person and nothing will change me. attempts to do so will more than likely cause me to intensify whatever behavior you were trying to modify.

basically, they have accepted that it is a part of who i am. they treat me no differently for it. in fact, they always tell me if they see another juggalo.

Would you mind sharing the design?
