    Proxy's Artwork

I might as well dump some of my work here.

    Old:

    Kinda old:

    Newish:

    And within the past month:

    Classwork:

I'm by no means a professional, but I finished my first year as an art student just earlier this month, and I think I did alright, all things considered.

I really like your style of art and it's really pretty, I especially like the plague mask picture though your schoolwork is also really nice.
Is that picture of the guy neck-down pencil or chalk/charcoal? Because I recently worked on chalk/charcoal stuff for my art exam and it was really interesting to use, but alas I am no longer pursuing art academically.

    Thank you!
    Neck-down is in graphite, primarily 6B pencil. It's actually a self-portrait. Heh.

I like your strong lines! however I feel your style is very similar to many others, kind of like a rudimentary cartooning crutch..

Edit: Thank you for your input.
I can't immediately think of anything that looks similar to my art style, but I can assure you any resemblance is unintended. If it looks like a "rudimentary cartooning crutch," so be it, but it's taken awhile to develop into what it is now, and it'll develop into something else later on down the road too.

    Re: Proxy's Artwork

So it's been like 50 years since I came here, but here's some (slightly) more recent work

And it's been years since I tried a vaguely anime-esque style so I figured why the hell not:

EDIT: And thanks to the people who complimented my artwork!

The curls in Kankri's hair are perfect. I have to deal with curls quite a bit- my hair is curly- and that would be pretty close to how I would do them. In terms of shading, you employ a whole host of techniques; try to explore even further, and do some techniques you normally wouldn't (I for one neglect stippling, but there are many more things you can do).

The one thing I might challenge you to show us or do more of is backgrounds. Portraits are nice, but without a well thought out, detailed and interesting background, they are just heads or legs floating in space. Even in your work with the bee it feels that it was not in line with the style and in some places overworked. Just try to think about settings that your images would play well in- add some depth!
