    Eurovision 2012

(Is this the appropriate subforum? What is this? Is it even appropriate to even open a thread about this abomination at all?)

Anyway, Eurovision 2012 has just finished. I have liveblogged the heck out of it on Tumblr but we all know that Europeans or not, everyone should know how this thing went and have some laughs, because what is life without humour, after all?

Did you know Turkey cloned Eridan and had him dance with a class B Dave Strider?

    Re: Eurovision 2012

I too have liveblogged the whole thing on my Tumblr and my posts are pretty scary when you think about it. I thought the Russian grannies were going to end first, not second. Anyways, it wasn't bad. And Denmark's singer is totally Vriska in a red outfit. Turkey wasn't bad, to be honest : they were pretty funny with their ship and their lyrics. Everyone also freaked out when Mr. Lordi gave the points. Honestly, he was awesome.

I do not quite agree on Turkish!Eridan, however. But since the dances were the only one with a dressing style close to him...

Aww. I wish that we weren't out of town for this; I'd have loved to seen it. Well, I'll get to after returning home to good internet connection.

    Re: Eurovision 2012

Honestly, Twitter and Tumblr went ballistic about it, it was hilarious. Even the point-giving, which was... surprisingly, not as politic-driven as one would expect given the current socioeconomical circumstances. And when the Lordi singer went up as Finland's spokesperson everyone just lost their shit. (Most Americans that didn't know who Lordi were kept posting updates about being genuinely terrified xDDD)

I was rooting for FYR Macedonia. That was one hell of a song; 3 minutes, and they managed to squeeze in a badass guitar solo!

I knew I had to watch Eurovision just so I could judge you.

It wasn't that bad compared to some other stuff I liked less.

Macedonia and Albania were better though.

It's a campy, awesome singing competition held between a lot of European countries. All the music is over-the-top and hilarious, which is why it is so great. I think that's it in a nutshell.

Kind of late, as the final was three days ago...
Regardless, because it's not in here yet, I guess I'll put in the winner.
On a side note, I cannot wait for SatW's Eurovision comic.

Seconded. They're always impossibly hilarious. I think I actually cried with the little insults the spokespeople kept throwing at each other. "Love is Blind, Bakú, and tonight we love you as well." And I think I'm still not over Norway's entry; that + Cyprus: Classic fucktastic ESC material.

Not quite on the same level as the last two completely legendary offerings, but still pretty funny, key line of the song being "this trumpet makes you my girl." I think they've become aware by this point that millions will mourn if they ever send something serious again.

I was absolutely ashamed of Ireland's entry this year. We shouldn't have let those toothbrushes out into the world.

And then the commentators wondered how we did so badly...

I hated my countries song last year to the point I wished it would not win. But this year, I was cheering the hell out of Sweden. I just like euphoria as a song, depsite being the opposite in music style from what I usually enjoy..

Yeah looking Back Euprhoai is better than I thought. I'm not as ashamed of Sweden now.

Still pretty unremarkable to me though.

    Re: Eurovision 2012

It's funny because when I was younger I was really into Eurovision and got sad when we never won but now when I stopped giving a shit some years ago we suddenly win. Oh well.
I immediately noticed that 95% of everyone on the opposite side of every argument were complete idiots. After a while, however, I started to realise that 90% of everyone on my side of every argument were also idiots. Then I realised that statistically, that meant there is a 90% chance that I am an idiot. And now I don't post on the Bioware forums anymore.

I was incredibly disappointed by the all-consuming landslide win after months of exactly that being unanimously predicted, but I just kept reminding myself that at least Sweden didn't win last year. I'm not even usually the type to be annoyed by miscellaneous people I see in media to the point of wanting to punch them in the face, but I can confidently say that I wanted to punch Sweden's previous contestant in the face.

It should be, but true fans know I don't like being called anything containing or having to do with the username I've got :3

also I learned that Moldova and Moldavia are 2 completely different things.
