Anyone who blames you for using a tactic provided to you by the game is the real scrub. Scrubs are people who can't accept that if they lose it's their fault; they won't learn so instead they bitch about whatever tactics the other guy is using and say it is unfair.

There was a time when an arcade stick was basically completely necessary but games these days are designed with pads in mind so it's all about preference now. I got better instantly when I switched to a stick but if you're better off with a pad that's OK too. The best Skrull player I know (Hi_Im_Nastyy) plays on a fucking Gamestop pad. He cleaned out Chris G with that. Boggles my mind.

SFxT (I mean, whatever you say about it, I have it regardless)
so do I... seeing Maximilian play it kinda tempted me a lot.. though I haven't played too much of it yet, may change at some point.. kinda waiting for Dudley to be available for everyone first it feels like.

Maximilian is kind of a dumb ass. I'd like to get a head count on how many people were turned off on Skullgirls because of him durping around with Solo Filia without actually doing any research on the game. :\

he does tend to durp around now that I think about it. I'm not sure if I'd say people would be turned off the game by just his videos, but I could see it happen.

I'm not playing the game as much myself because I keep forgetting to between work and other stuff, as well as my inability to get matches. There would be practice mode (which would be a great idea) though.

If all I knew about the game was how Max played it I would probably not be interested in Skullgirls. It looked pretty fucking dull when he was messing around in it.

I've had... varying reasons that tempted me to get it. That one guy may or may not have been one of them.

I haven't been putting nearly as much time into Skullgirls as I could have, but I'm caught up in all these other not-fighting games, so that's just the way it's been.

So I've been watching a lot of Third Strike stuff, and well, long story short, now I have it.

I dunno what it is but I just cannot have fun playing Third Strike. I have no legitimate complaints about the game and in theory I should love everything about it (well the lack of a real zoning character hurts I guess but I can deal with that) but I just don't. :T

I should probably put some more time in it but every time I pick it up I just think to myself "I'd rather be playing Marvel."

Re: Ultimate Turbo Fighting Game Discussion Arcade Edition

I think my biggest problem with the versus series is well... I have enough trouble getting the nuances of a lone character, let alone three. Add in having to factor in assists (what to use, when to use them, when to watch out for the opponent using them, what are the best set ups, team construction etc. etc. etc.) and well, the chaos can be a bit too much. I notice that even in Skullgirls, I fail to use assists much, rather switching between the two characters I use to make sure they keep red health up and so that I can occasionally get into high-damage DHC combos when my execution decides to stay with me in a match. That's about it. Could I get better at it? Yeah, with time and effort, but... when compared to the more controlled chaos of 1v1 fighters, I just find they fit my preferences more.

As if the game's title wasn't long enough already (to be fair, PV is "Preview Video" and isn't part of this new iteration's name).

I for one am excited to see my old buddy Faust.

ah yes, GG, you beautiful beast of a soundtrack. Hopefully it'll get on PSN soon enough (even though I'm horrible at it as well)
That would be something I'd be practicing as well if it happens.. either May, Milia or Chip most likely.

Long before I was ever interested in fighting games I had a friend that swore on Guilty Gear. He had a Faust avatar and I thought it was hilarious. I'll have to try out GG when it comes on PSN.

Based solely on character designs, Slayer, Venom and Faust would be who I'd try playing on GG.

It still looked dull when I watched WNF with much better play. Same with a lot of stuff. 8 characters is just not enough and I'm a VF player who's used to low character counts.

As far as picking a top tier, sometimes the top tier stuff is at a higher level of play. I wouldn't put Magneto (any incarnation) in the hands of anyone starting out unless they really loved the character, for example. Because they'd just suck with 'em.

As far as stick vs. pad goes, it depends on who you want to use. Taskmaster on pad sounds like hell. Same with doing handslap cancels in AE. In the same vein, walking 720s are easier on pad. If you're more comfortable on pad then you should go for that. I use a stick because I like it more.

Man, GG, that takes me back, gonna have to take up Faust again I think.

In my dreams, Capcom realizes that Darkstalkers is never going to be a mainstream title no matter how much they water it down and they decide to make the game the fans want.

In my reality, I just hope that they take a page from Valve's book and use Team Fortress 2 as an example of "3D models with character".

Do you mean Team Fortress before or after the ridiculous and design-fucking-with outfits and hats and endless, endless, endless sidegrades?

On one hand, I believe the SF4 engine is equipped to do Darkstalkers in theory, but in practice we ain’t seen it yet. (i am metaphorically from missouri in this case)

Dhalsim showed that they can at least sort of do the good ol' stretchy limbs Darkstalkers is known for. My biggest worry is not the engine but that they will make it play like Street Fighter IV. As a BB Hood player slow as a turtle on a sick day is not something I can be okay with. Speedy Gonzalez dash cancels is where it's at.

Yes, Darkstalkers playing like SF would be about as wrong as Darkstalkers looking like SF.

... I can’t get the mental image of an extra-beefy BB Hood out of my head now. Thanks.
