They're all the same game with random people. It's still not about Minecraft multiplayer in general.
They just have more than one server so lots of people can play at once.

So anyway we were talking about forming a team for this, who wants in? We would be pretty likely to win with a small group

The seed is random for each game. This sometimes results in hilarious starts where the spawn is in a desert biome, and the barbarians kill everyone and each other almost immediately since there's no wood for tools when invulnerability runs out. If you get into one of these, go hermit and hope you end up somewhere with trees.

I have to say that I hate this less than I orginally did - it's less time-wasting that minecraft in general at least, and while chat is overrun by idiots and paying for the kits is dumb, they recently switched the free kits around, and cultivators are kind of fun if you survive the barbarians. Planting wheat and trees underground hasn't gotten old yet. I've finished in the top 3 a couple times by being a Morlock while the Eloi all kill each other on the surface.

Its better to have skype teams, so you can communicate faster, i won a couple of games now, so if you want to be teammates talk to me on skype
