Minecraft Hunger Games Server, lets get some Homestuck fans playing...

So I recently found this place, the Minecraft Hunger Games. Where up to 150 players join a server and fight to the death. They have 24 Servers which restart at the end of a game and allow new players to join.

Basically, I like this server and i'd love to see some of my fellow Homestucks on there too... whether we team up with each other or just play our own way. So put on your best skin and get to it.

So here's some basic info on how to play if you join The Hunger Games.

When you join, you should be propted with a message to choose a starter kit. There are 3 to choose from, type /kit name

Other kits can be purchased here.
when the server opens you have 10 mins to join and pick your kit. You can't talk until you choose a kit. Be sure to check for other Homestucks during this time.

you can /msg other players and use /r to respond to your last contact.
typing /spawn sends you to a random location. use it to scout out npc villages or other usefull locations, diamonds cannot be mined, only found in chests of villages or mineshafts.

at the end of the 10 minutes all players are sent to the start point and given 2 minutes of invincibility to gather resources and find saftey.

then the fighting begins...

also, for those who survive long enough, an event called the Feast occurs where Chests of usefull items (including diamond items) and an enchantment table appear in a location broadcast to everyone... Your choice to attend the feast, just beware everyone else...


anyway, that's what I know and I'd like to see some Homestucks on the servers.

So anyway, Basic stratergy=run to trees and get 4 wood or more.
If in swamp, grab mushrooms for soup, on this server they instantly heal hearts instead of hunger

So I've participated in two games, and man this shit is intense. In my first try I managed to survive until nightfall and even got one kill! (By masterfully hiding behind trees.) The second game could be described as "oh god the invincibility has worn off I hope there's nobody around- OH GOD THERE IS SOMEONE RIGHT BEHIND ME AAA SPEED POTION SPEED POTION RUNRUNRUNRUNRUN NONONONONO! Okay I've ran for some time now, there's no way that he is chasing after me anymore, let's hide into that cave and start crafting! Okay I'm pretty deep in here and WAIT WHAT HE'S COMING RIGHT AT ME OH MAN OH GOD *death by iron sword*"

I also created a Youtube playlist that has music from the Hunger Games soundtrack. It really adds to the mood when you're sneaking around in the forest, hoping that you won't get slaughtered.

The only flaw to Minecraft HG is the combat, which Roblox does worse. And I think they have about the same lag?
Plus, everyone on there.... augh.
Plus, there is a close to 0 chance for any server on Roblox to have potions.
And people will not wait during the beginning.

teamwork is high forced
hunger doesnt matter as much (roblox verison explodes you as soon as hunger bar is 0)

Oof! I just got to the final 4 players of a match- I played it safe with Scout and went off to forge full iron armor, but ultimately got killed by the dudes with the diamond loot at the feast. It looks like in order to win, you need to survive the initial clusterfuck while staying relatively close to 0,0,0 so you can take advantage of the feast- and then you need to survive that, and then run off, hunt food, and take down any survivors. My playing-it-safe just isn't viable in the end- the feast winners have a huge advantage.

Best stratergy i can think of is to carry no less than 5 buckets of lava like a normal person.

Drop it like it's hot when the Diamond pimps are in your crib.

Step 3: Acquire building materials.

Step 4: Acquire TNT block.

Step 5: Build house in desert.

Step 6: make pitfall with pressure plate right before door.

Step 7: hide just underneath the house.

Step 9: Rinse and repeat.

Ah, yes, hunger games. I liked the original one where you just had to kill all other players with nothing to start out with and not being able to destroy blocks better though.

So I played for an hour. Managed to reach the final 15. I think I died as the 11th person left. A skeleton killed me.

In that game, I managed to somehow end up on a mountain with a ton of animals.
Shiftclicking probably kept me hidden. Eventually, I was down in an underground ravine in total darkness (don't want people to come and investigate). I never saw a single person after I reached the mountain. Goddamn paranoia as you wouldn't believe. I wish it wasn't a skeleton that had killed me, but I had so little iron that it was probably better that I die underground rather than sit there while people have no goddamn clue where I am.

It's really intense.

Yeah, I know. There were two people near me for most of it, but I never saw them. Only their usernames. I tried calling a truce, but I never got a response. They were never close enough for me to read their usernames, either. I only knew the name of one of them 'cause of the compass. I think they were neutral towards me anyway. Seems like there were at least 3 people who were just hoping for the strongest to kill themselves. Hide in a hole, hope nobody finds you.

Good idea, horribly executed. Hacks of all kinds abound, server queuing is pretty horrible, and the servers seem to be populated by prepubescent idiots who think telling people to press alt-f4 for loot is funny (hint: funny once, in like 2004).

Minecraft is just not suited to this. I played a couple matches and found it was pathetically easy to get to the final 30 or so, at which point you're generally killed by someone you can't even see, to the sound of minecraft's "what burst of static was that?" sound effects which do nothing to tell you where it's coming from. Not really worth spending any time at, but marginally fun once or twice.

Also: the paid-for kits completely wreck any semblance of balance (which doesn't exist anyway because of the hacks). Don't spend a penny on this.

Also are there any servers that run terrafirmacraft? It'd seriously up the survival aspect, and make it harder for people to just straight-up get a load of iron stuff. Because I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding but I don't think that you're supposed to be an industrial powerhouse in this kind of competitive game. If anything, you're supposed to be constantly reminded of how frail and dependent on things other than yourself you are.
