There are three variants of the vine symbol, each relating to the various parties involved in the pairing and the nature of said pairing.
~ The basic symbol, "~", is used in situations where one of the parties is everyone*. (e.g. Vine ~ Everyone)

If both of the parties involved are everyone*, one of two symbols (each representing two vines) are used, depending on the nature of the pairing.
≈ If the feelings felt by one of the parties are not reciprocated, the symbol used is "≈", representing two vines flowing in the same direction. (e.g. Everyone ≈ Nepeta)
∞ If the relationship happens to be mutual, the symbol becomes "∞", representing two vines flowing back and forth. (e.g. Dani ∞ Nepeta)

I have a head canon that LE is a pawn in a bigger game as well. I have no evidence whatsoever of this, it's just a gut feeling.

Also, Eridan poem time. I tried to write it from his perspective. He's not any more likable, but I'm a poet, not a miracle worker.

It's kind of an off-screen leading thing, for the most part? Karkat is said to have kept all the others from devolving into a bloodbath really quickly. John provided mangrit etc - I dunno, I just think they're pretty leadery!

I know Rose is a nice and funny person, and caring about her friends, but I don't think she's fit for a leader role. For one, she doesn't know enough about the Trolls. Secondly, Seers are meant to support their team, not lead it. She could be the second-in-command, sure, her role fits for that. But not as a true leader.

John and Karkat are the only ones really fit for that, in my opinion.
