If you can’t state why you’d want to back the project, it’s probably better not to back it. The purpose of a proposal, after all, is to convince you of certain things, like why it’s worth your money and that they can deliver. But if you want to buy it on impulse just because you’ve been struck by the “I wants”, I guess you can. It’s your money. At the current adoption rate, I’m sure someone out there will port the proper thingummies so you will at least have decent games on your TV even if this turns out to be a big fat disappointment.
So that said, the idea appeals to me personally, because I think the market deserves cheaper consoles available to a wide audience. And if I had that kind of throwin’ around money (and time to develop games), I’d be one of the devkit pledges. If.

Beat KH 358/2 days...answered some questions I had from KH II nicely and added a fare amount extra...now I'm sad because Dearly Beloved is playing on the ending screen. You'd think after so many runs of KH I and II that this them would go old, but it's still really powerful:
Onto Dream Drop Distance!
This is very tangentially related to video games, but...
There was a meetup of fans of certain machinima series (one of them in question is the excellent “Freeman’s Mind”). And one of them was....

speaking of kingdom hearts, i finally beat kingdom hearts 2. i say finally because a few months ago i lost to the final boss, put down the controller, turned off my ps2, sat back down, and said "yeah i won that shit."
now i actually did win that shit
it makes me feel no better whatsoever and may have been a waste of time because i didn't get jack shit for doing so
Uh, perhaps you shouldn’t get all your info on Crytek from that one article. The UK studio (which used to be Free Radical) is currently working on parts of Crysis 3 and Homefront 2. The announced move to F2P is... not exactly what you would expect from the term. They mean F2P with CryENGINE and multi-million euro budgets. I think the article’s author might have been thinking that just saying “like Warface” would cover that part (it does not).

the way you put it just makes me want to see it more
Shoosh I will continue to be uneducated if I feel like it dammit
Also guys Persona 4 Arena is a hell of a lot fun
It is easy at the beginner level but has a bunch of depth and also it is still excellent even if you're like me and you've never played any of the Persona games and auuuugh

OH MY GOD LOOK AT ALL THESE ENEMIES
wait these die in one hit
wait there's a forty-five second time limit
wait at the end of these forty-five seconds all the enemies automatically disappear
what
kingdom hearts 2 has a lot of things that piss me off, but i still can't hate it. i just can't help but enjoy it, even though it's so annoying half of the time.
my life is confusing.
also roxas is a horrible thing
The three other Paradox fans on this forum may be interested to know they just announced Europa Universalis 4. Bunch of other link on their Twitter feed, too.
Woooooooo
now I’ve been with EU long enough to start complaining about how the new guys have it so easy with their streamlined interfaces
(But I won’t because I don’t see eye to eye with people who do that.)

The official response in Dwarf Fortress for "a more accessible interface" is generally "It'd be a lot of work that I could use making the game better and that I'd have to rework again very quickly as more features make the new interface clunky."
Dwarf Fortress's current interface is bad but once you learn it it isn't terrible, it's just that there are hundreds of commands and it's pretty hard to make a non-clunky interface for that many different commands. The fact that most suggestions for a less clunky interface do involve removing/consolidating commands, which does lower complexity, is also a reason teh community is hostile towards it.
Oh, I definitely understand; I love Dwarf Fortress and have learned to live with the interface as it is. But wanting dev resources spent elsewhere is different from specifically not wanting more accessibility - a sentiment that certainly exists, even if it's a minority. Hipsters not wanting their indie game to become too popular and all that.
This is veering into straw man territory though, so I should probably stop.
Today I started on Assassin’s Creed Revelations and the first couple of times it worried me that the startup logo was a bit glitchy. About the third startup, I caught the joke....

I picked up Evochron Mercenary during the Steam Summer Sale because it sounded interesting. I have never played a space flight sim before (unless you count like, Descent). I may record myself playing it at some point. Space battles are hard. They're hard and nobody understands.
