The people of K'ddlz were having a marvelous time.
It was the final day of week, meaning that a national revelry was in process. People got drunk, gave into their passions, did stupid things related to fire and donkies; a slightly more debauched celebration than was the norm for the weekly mirthmaking. But that was what the consensus had ruled, and nobody saw any reason not to drink a bit more than usual.
Little did the people of K'ddlz know that today was their first independence day.
The Ecstatic Council sat in silent deliberations. In their undisguised form, they had no lips to speak with; verbal communication was inefficient and had been evolved away by their species eons ago. The conversation that took place between the dozen individuals could fill a tome and snap a scholar's wrist; the Friendmakers of K'ddlz were especially talkative, even by their species' standards.
However, when the time to vote came, the decision was unanimous. K'ddlz, one of the Federations' quietest and most amicable members, would hereby secede from the crumbling union. It was logical. Several of the foreign dignitaries had been very rude in the past!
Rudeness and impoliteness just wouldn't do. Those nations were the K'ddlrz friends, but friends fought; that was the natural order of things. If their friends had to be taught a lesson by sacking their cities and burning their crops, then so be it.
The consensus placed the declaration of war before the minds of their people. Those of them that were conscious all immediately placed their vote.
100%. Unanimous, as every psychic bill was. The Ecstatic Council decided to retire for the evening, and called upon their preferred local brothel for thirty-to-forty of their finest whores.
The first independence day was shaping up to be a good one.

Still waiting on two people to post there war commands before I can update and then go on Hiatus properly. However while we are waiting I have been working on fleshing out the world some more. Hilariously the players placed closest to eachother had cultures that can visibly be said to be of a cultural 'group' so I could draw a distinct ethnic map of the Hebrides region and the cultural relations of each province. In other citystates threads an opposing nation owning a province that was clearly within a person's cultural sphere was a great source of diplomatic tension, generally speaking, Slavic Russia is usually not best pleased if say the Greeks are dominating the western Slavs of Europe. The ethnic make ups are not perfect however and I have drawn distinctions when players cultures are obviously not entirely the same as another players nation whose culture, while similar in many respects, has fundamental differences.
This does of course require me to outline a brief timeline and history regarding how all this came about (and I will especially need to explain the sheer spread of the alegorian culture group and explain what is exactly meant by a Chivalised and Wild culture) but for now I'll give you this tidbit of what I am working on.

It began in the city of Dritt. That is, the corruption that ended up consuming the whole island started there; the finale of chaos started in the north. As happens, it's ones most insistent on their own nobility that truly can't handle a little chaos, and they break wide open.
The island was supposed to be reputable, of course. There was only one major port, Oh, and it wasn't corrupt, not at the beginning. Quite the opposite; illicit traffic was driven off pretty handily. But as is the way of things, bum traders wanted to stop on the island, and if they couldn't land legally, well, they'd land otherwise. More than a few skiffs tried to land on the rocky shores around Dritt, starting not long after the first announcement of tariffs and regulations, and the first arrests.
Plenty of ships ran aground, mind you, and it was never considered a smart move by anyone. But there were ways on and off the island, and all things considered, the leadership turned a blind eye. Perhaps if they'd known the drugs and money would flood Dritt as much as they did... perhaps if they knew how it affected the nobility... but they didn't.
As I say, quite a few drug shipments ran afoul of the coasts near Dritt, and their merchandise... well, it was found. And once found, paid for, by folk with coin. Soon enough, common lawmen on the street were being bought off so more drugs could be snuck in. This wasn't drugs purchased by peasants or tradesmen--it was addictive, corrosive, and vile, and it cost far and away more than anyone should spend. Heads of police, heads of state, and nobles of note... well, they might as well have been dead, for all the good they did the populace, once they were hooked on the stuff. Traces, by report, made it into the water supply, but it only hastened the inevitable--after all, nobody had demanded those nobles get hooked on Grim Glory. It was their own boredom and conceit, and it was only one of several ways they showed it. Drittheads, they were called--drug-addled monsters with nothing to their character but the raw odor of malice.
Whispers of revolution started long before the fall of the Federation. The leaders of Oh meted out cruel measures to silence them, but like grains of sand, malcontent slipped out every crack. Whispers became murmurs, became shouts. Nobles took up arms against the populace, and in their Grim Glory, they slaughtered innocents and conspirators alike. To be among those men was to understand despair; there was no hope of escaping the tyranny of these people. Fields were torched, whether deliberately or accidentally; the remainder was hoarded. Mansions and warehouses became fortresses that people dared not leave. Traders began to shun the island, for all the maddened throngs that waited at the docks. Soon there was no way to live but to raid a noble's house en masse, and distribute what little food was found there to live another day. Soon enough, this too fell apart.
Everything was burning. Everything was dying. Now... now any man who could claim to offer escape, or claim to offer just one more day's food, became a hero--a god amongst men. Throngs took up the sword and marched under one man's banner, then another. It was a cult of personality, and the cultists changed their tune whenever one man or the next could not deliver. Others became so violently loyal that it bordered on madness. It was above and beyond religion; it was agony.
Crude boats were prepared. Not warships--any remnants of tradesmanship was gone. These were raiding vessels, meant only to carry men to the next shore. One fleet, then another, cast off. Behind them, the throngs left behind tore at each other, fighting over what scraps remained.
The leaders of the two fleets stared at each other over what seemed an impassable distance. No word, nor signal, nor even semaphore passed between them, but they each knew that what they had left remained burned into them. They were enemies of each other, of those behind them, of all other hungry people. If they ever met, they would stab the other in the back, steal their possessions, perhaps even consume each others' flesh, if they had nothing else. The ships turned aside and fled in different directions.
The hungry people were enemies of all humanity. They saw in all people the same betrayal they had seen in their own leaders. They would show others the ferocity and malice that had made them worthy to survive the bloodstained wreck of Oh and Dritt. Those that had been in the deepest parts of Dritt were the most tainted, and their souls were turned the darkest. Soon, their blades would carry that darkness across the seas, to new lands. Soon, the Dritt would hit the Jam, and who is to say what it might get into after that.

"You did what?!" Queen Suina shouted at her diplomatic advisor.
"Your majesty! I apologise profusely, it was never intentional!" the adviser burbled. In retrospect, he agreed that he had made a terrible blunder, but nevertheless he was doing his best to escape punishment for it.
Suina was unimpressed. "We'll be the laughing stock of every nation from here to the Khanate. How many leaders are laughing at me right now, I wonder?" she covered her face with her hands. "Tell me, how many letters were there? How many nations did you send the wrong letters to?"
The adviser fidgeted. "Well, er, judging by how many letters are still in my desk drawer right now...I'd say all of them, bar a couple."
Suina slumped further, sinking lower on her throne. "So, what you're saying is...practically every king and lord in the land got a letter addressed to Allegoria, regardless of content. And I have about half as many replies claiming to be from Allegoria, saying all kinds of strange things, while the other half at least had the decency to point out the mistake." This was not turning out to be a good day at all.
The adviser took a step backwards, evidently eager to leave the palace's throne room as quickly as possible. "Well, yes, you put it eloquently, my queen, as always," he attempted.
Suina turned her focus to the fearful adviser. "You've done enough damage; get out of my sight. I'll deal with you later, and I'll handle diplomacy personally from now on. Go on, get out before I think of some way to punish you now."
After the adviser had all but fled out of the throne room, Suina got to her feet and stepped down from where the throne was placed above a tiered dais of stairs. Going over to one of the large windows at the back of the throne room, she looked at the view it gave over the harbour and out to sea. She continued to worry about how many of the world's rulers would now hold the diplomats of Resplendor up to ridicule, before deciding to try and do her best to fix the situation. She left the throne room, heading for her personal study. She had a diplomatic reputation to salvage, and letters to write.
While it was theoretically a beautiful day in the Hebrides and despite the massive square skylight many, many feet above the head of Emperor Anub'Rekhan of Anoch'Itlan, barely any of the sun's rays managed to pierce the dense canopy of webbing that festooned the tapering ceiling of the palace's throne room from wall to wall and meet his crown. Calling it a palace was perhaps a little over the top as it was only barely the largest building in the city, a blunt ziggurat just about rising above the city skyline and draping a shroud of webbing over the buildings below that extended over most of the rest of the city. From above it looked almost like a tent made out of white silk or snow.
The inside was poorly lit but that had always suited the succession of Spider Kings just fine, it was said that the moon was really just the sun wrapped up in silk by The Great Weaver himself, though daily it managed to slip from his grasp. One day he'd find a pattern that stuck and then would come the time for Krik'Ikth'Ix'Il himself to spread the shadow of his legs over all of the countries of man.
...spread his legs? Anub'Rekhan noted down that he should not use that particular unfortunate turn of phrase in his grand speech. That really wasn't the image he intended to conjure.
Regardless, today was a good day, not least of which because of his city-state's new state of independence. Not that they had ever been interfered with too much, you understand, the agents posted here usually found reasons to be moved somewhere else after a few months of arachnaphobic terror, but there were certain things they just couldn't do under the watchful eye of the Federation without fear of widespread and violent reprisal. It was surprising they'd managed to get away with as much as they already had to be honest, some of the more obscure Krik'Ikthian rituals would have turned the federation magisters' hairs grey (or in many cases, grey-er). Perhaps it was simply due to proximity to the infamous town of Jobsworth.
Now that they had joined their many neighbours in casting off the shackles of unjust rulership, it was to be the dawn (or perhaps, dusk?) of a new age and from the messengers he had already received thus far, the Spider King was fully expecting his little nation to enjoy it.
There were just a few... speed bumps to deal with first. All in good time.
"It was a bloody beginning to the revolution, but not as bloody as it could have been. But for the Barbarian hordes of Oh and Dritt, it clearly wasnt bloody enough.
Askeria had made appeals to the other cities on its island to join it, offering the grand Duke's protection, utilising Askeria's history of protecting the federation's interests as leverage, however only Mars responded favorably. However the Grand Duke fell ill, and his ally, the Queen of Resplendor, claime dprotectorship over his lands.
Praegevium, as could be expected, wasted no time securing its powerbase and now looked across the waters for further expansion. Its ruler was annoyed at the expansion of the Neighbouring Mageocracy of Lucren onto the island of Mac.
The Wyrdfolk of the north were having a hard time of it, the K'ddlz had faced unexpected fury in the city of Jam, caught between the barbarians and the knights of Bead, the battle was a bloodbath. Jani'De-Nechhulzan calmly garrisoned its capital, fearful of invasion yet nonetheless captured the city of Bath to add to its domain.
The Ironfolk of Fort Boulderwood were a practical bunch, and wasted no time conquering Touchstone and Klas to add to its domain and power. Its neighbour across the fjord in Archeon were more cautious and remained protective of its lands but sent protected envoys to the city of Capp to negotiate its addition into the Republic of Archeon.
The Dark Kingdom of Jobsworth and the undead horde of the Sea of Teeth clashed on the mountainside, where the dark forest meets rocky hillside. The night time battle raged into the wee hours of the morning, unstoppable force meeting immoveable object. All the while the Empire of Allegoria prepared for the worst of it and garrisoned its city while the Spiderking of Anoch'Itlan rode north and subjugated the city of Bennadorm for its budding kingdom.
Porttown's Lucrative tradings with its neighbouring nations could not prepare it for the unexpected battle for Natre, were a smaller force of Barbarians from the Wulfhold gave the Merchant Marines a serious run for their money. The Confederacy of Dorf and the Order of Malakon met in the city of Kilo, both forces reluctant to face an outright battle, an uneasy tension filled the city as the two armies occupied a half of the city apiece.
The People of Ethidian benefited greatly from the revolution, securing trade with porttown and conquering two cities to add to its realm, while its Neighbour the derisively nicknamed Juicebox rode north attempting to conquer the Major city of Jos and quickly found out how much of a bad idea thatw as. Meanwhile the Viceroy of Sonn rode out and conquered the City of Ipper, secure in his city's safety, only to be proven wrong as the Dragon worshippers of Adoragon made landfall and besieged the city and its meagre force.
In the south the despicable cultists of Oberga thought to sail north and lay siege tot he city of Craf, seeking to limit the expanding power of Velile who sought to conquer its entire island, only to arrive too late and face as serious siege, all the while the Durestians secured the island in the name of their Queen and the god of Stories and sent the rest of its force to Oberga, to eradicate the cult's presence from its neighbouring Island.
The Nakkians expanded, conquering the city of Kan and renaming it Nak in honour of their god, they sought to secure their homeland from possible invasion while their only neighbour, Cyota, seemingly in a fit of madness, ordered its entire army to farm the mountain within its borders.
Finally, the people of Ro-Zemmer, accountants and bookkeepers of the empire, through off the shackles of the Federation, seeking glory in raiding and conquest and dominated the rest of their island. While the veiled collective warred with the kingdom of Mastronere, only to be outwitted and have its navy be raided by the Mastronere and its besieging force in disarray.
It was bloody, but the Harvest Tide revolution was full of such tales of treachery war and conquest, as you will find out soon enough."

Greetings, friends and nobles, and welcome to the first reconvening of the warrior council! I am overjoyed to see so many well known faces, ready and willing to take up arms for the glory of our great nation.
And it increases my joy yet more to see your rusty weapons, and your patchy armour. For that blade is rusty because your great-great-great grandfather used it for the glory of Allegoria in his day, and that armour is patchy because pieces have been lost in the intervening years. And yet, you are here. None of you were lost. Which means that there is something in you all which is more enduring than tempered steel. It is your blood, and it is very important, so try not to lose all of it.
(hold for laughter...)
That bloodline confers on each of you a special destiny to be a leader of men in battle and life, and as your king, I promise that every moment of my rule will be spent helping you seize that destiny. For in this time of turbulence, who else can put this world to rights but those with the strength, culture and sense of history to see this continent as it should be, to take the chivalrous steps necessary to bring that end about, and to hold the vast legions of humanity together in peace?
It won't be easy. There will be many who oppose the truth of things, as there always have been, and we will meet the first of them soon. This future lies far along the path of battle, yet it is within our grasp, I can feel it. So go forth, and claim your authority. There is no time to lose. Pick up your grandfathers' sword. Pick up your grandfathers' cause. And seize your destiny.
Already, our Armies have shown their mettle, and now; the Cyotans must ask themselves if they feel fortunate. Our forces are prepared to seize your lands by force if necessary, as we have been commanded by the Great Nak to do so, whilst your armies toil pointlessly in the fields rather than face us in battle. Until our armies arrive, we offer you mercy should your people submit to the Great Nak and accept vassalage as a tribe within the Kingdom. Your people will be spared and your lands will receive the Great Nak's blessings.
Know that when we come for you, there will be no mercy for those who refuse to accept the patrimony of the Great Nak.
Those outside the Isle, know that our hand of scaly friendship remains outstretched; soon we will be looking for glory upon the battlefields of the Colonies. Those who seek our assistance in their wars should present their offers to Chief Krokodilus.
Hahahaha. Well he can take his time, exam mode full time hits me smack in the face in just over a dozen hours from now, and wont quit until next friday. So he has plenty of time for fluff.
That said Neopie, if you're reading this, I'd advise putting your fluff in a new post and not editing that old post, so it'll be easily seen.
As for the rest of you, you shall, SHALL take advantage of the downtime for plans and backstabby goodness and war commands and diplomacy. If I come back in two weeks and my inbox hasnt exploded with stuff from you guys I will be disapointed.

Overdrafts are owed to Gallo whether you win or lose
People who go ALL-IN stand to triple their winnings.
I asked Gallo some questions, he answered, I edited and posted for those who don't know this yet.
1) Is it possible to get more detail on any battles I take part in, like casualties or how well my general commanded?
Gallo: Of course its possible to get more specific information on battles. You can find how your General acted in response to your orders, and how many causalties you have taken. Regiments are important, as your forces will slowly replenish over time (partially represented by the morale bar).
2) What types of resources are there, and what does -NATION- have in resources (at this point)?
Gallo: Of course -YOUR NATION- has resources. You may have an Iron Mine, or even a Place of Power, which generates gold, makes the upkeep of magic units cheaper and makes it easier to research higher magical tech).
3) What's the terrain like around -SOME AREA-?
Gallo: If a terrain is represented on the map as not being either a HUEGFUCK forest or a mountain range it is generally fields, flatlands, sparse forests, hills, farms and other generic European landscape. Also generally, due to the scale of the map, see here for reference, Ireland is being used as a scale of measurement, there are FUCKTONS of towns, villages and small cities in a province that arent represented on the map, the taxing of whom is represented by the total gold income of a city that is represented on the map. As well as that, rivers and lakes are not represented on the map due to scale, but they are everywhere as would be expected.
4) How many races are in the Hebrides, and which of those are likely to become involved in the game in someway?
Gallo: Lots of races are likely to be involved in the game some way. However, The federation is not that cosmopolitan and almost entirely human dominated. If another race appears in a player nation it is the exception rather then the norm (so you cant have like, elves running around human towns willy nilly a la Elder Scrolls). Elves and Dwarves are the major empire building non human races in the game, other races are planned but can't be introduced in case a player deliberately goes and seeks to trigger their appearance too early in the game. That said there are fucktons of magical creatures and the like, some rare, some merely uncommon.
5) Not a question, but if there is any more general info (or need-to-know info) out there, it would be great if you could let me know or something along those lines.
Gallo: Generally? I'll only say this: Capitalise.
SO THERE IT IS
Here is some lore on Bead
The Government
Bead was founded under the rule of the Federation. The Federation appointed an Administrator to rule Bead, to make things ran properly, and above all else to make sure that Bead paid its taxes on time. The first Administrator of Bead separated classes. There was the Noble Class: the Administrator, the Knights who were Middle Class, and the Low Class: Tradesmen and Peasants. The Peasants worked the land, the Tradesmen built things, the Knights mastered war and the Administrator ruled. This format has remained to this day, with only slight changes. There are now Advisors who help make decisions, and two new classes: Mages and Priests. They are much smaller than the other Class groups, but are equal in status to the Knights. When the Federation began to crumble, Administrator Beader declared himself King of Bead and assembled his Advisors. They unanimously agreed the Revolution was the answer, and the new King Beader declared the Sovereignty of Bead. Thus Bead was founded, and the war began. King Beader makes all decisions for Bead, while the Advisors simply give advice on matters. There are currently 5 Advisors who are helping during this Revolutionary period, One from the Holy Order, One from the Arcane Guild, One from the Knighthood, One from the Tradesmen/Peasants and the Foreign Ambassador, an Advisor appointed to deal with other lands currently revolting as well. The group works well together, and cooperation is coming along smoothly for Bead's transition from a Province to a Nation.
The Arcane Guild
Bead is not unusual in the Federation for having its own group of Mages. As times passed, certain Magical properties began to grow in the populace, and as the talent grew so did its opposition. When the Mages first began to petition the Administrator for more power, there were a series of violent and brutal crackdowns on any and all Magical Users. For many years after, Magic was banned and the very few talented Mages left were forced to hide or else be sentenced to Death. After many, many years, a new Administrator took charge and ended the Mage Crusade. Very slowly, magical users were allowed more freedom to practice, and, after Beadian Society was used to the Mages, the Arcane Guild was created. The Arcane Guild is a newer part of Bead, having no previous foundations to build upon, and only a modest collection of Magical Works, most having been destroyed or hidden during the Crusade. Regardless, the Mages of Bead have proven themselves to be of great support to the King, being given their own Advisor position as well as their efforts to upgrade their class and status by improving their work. Very recently, there has been a movement to merge the parts of the Arcane Guild which dealt with weaponized Magic with the Knighthood, creating Bead’s first Magical Warfare regiment. The paperwork and training have yet to be completed, and it is something most of Bead looks forward to seeing.
The Holy Order
Bead has had a very easygoing stance with regards to Religion and Gods. For a long time the people had worshipped the God of Air, and later a pantheon, and later than that there was a time when Bead had very little Religion at all. Currently, there is only one Religion in Bead, enforced by law: The Holy Order of Bead. After the time of the Religious Void, small religions began to pop up in different regions of Bead. As they grew they came into conflict, starting a series of small wars between themselves. After all was said and done, The Holy Order was in the strongest position to plead the Administrator of the time to make its religion official. And so it was. The Administrator made The Holy Order the only legal religion in Bead, and the Order set itself to converting all Beadians to the faith. They have been very successful so far. The Holy Order worships only one God, [REDACTED BECAUSE OF RETHINKING]. Recently there have been many petitions to build more Churches in Bead, which has been accepted under the condition they are built to the Knighthood’s specifications. Unsurprisingly, many Churches in Bead are built in order to defend against a Military Siege. The Churches have been approved, but progress on building has not begun.
The Knighthood
The Knighthood of Bead is well known for having obtained some of the most detailed Texts on warfare, and for having some of the best War School Systems available in the Federation. This is a result of Bead’s long history of battle and war, starting with Bead’s Founding as a province of the Federation. When Bead was first founded, it came into conflict with the surrounding regions over ‘Noriion’, the small island off of the mainland of Bead. Having only been recently founded and having almost no war experience, the Beadians were forced to draft the common folk to fight for the land. They were not very successful, and eventually lost the war, but managed to create enough of an impression that they were allowed to keep Noriion. The Beadians were proud folk, and were determined to never lose another battle again. They founded the first Knighthood school, and devoted themselves to mastering the Art of War. Over the years they have continually improved their standing Armed Forces and the Knighthood’s schools. The schools themselves play a central role in Beadian society. They give most Tradesmen battle experience in exchange for a free education, allowing the Government to maintain control of the skilled workers while simultaneously increasing Military Strength and efficiency in Bead. More recently, the Knighthood has begun to expand to defend Bead and conquer new lands, as well as having made deals with the Holy Order and the Arcane Guild. The Knighthood is the Class with the most power in Bead, and has its own Advisor position. More Knights are currently in training, and orders have been made to train even more.

you may or may not have already noticed but I also now have a game kind of like this, with a few twists, such as everyone being in the same nation. have a look at it here.
