A few days ago I took a survey of as much of the Homestuck fandom I could grab in 24 hours.

I really didn't like the way I presented this question at all. I don't think the data reflects things well at all, so I will not be posting it. The only reason it was given a spot is because I felt I still had to mention it since it was on the data sheet.

If I may ask, was there a reason for this beyond curiosity?

But yeah, despite similar curiosity, gotta ask same question as Hytheter. Specially since it turned out to be a (relatively) small group of results. Was originally thinking it'd wait till at least the 1k+ mark.

No. I am only one person sifting through this monsterous pile of data. I am fuck deep in Meowdats over here. Seriously.

Maybe in the future I will take a more extensive poll. However, 417 is a nice number. To be fair, most of the time with surveys like this, you only poll about 1-200 people at a time.

This is pretty neat! It'd be cool to see a larger data set, though -- the forums are probably not an ideal cross-section of the fandom as a whole, and Homestuck has approximately a jillion readers.

I'm aware.

Frankly, the amount of data I got from just a FRACTION of the forums (and what maybe 6 people I may have gotten off of Tumblr) is very immense. I want to sort through what data I already have before I continue. But I do plan to continue.

Also, I didn't want to solicit other areas of the forums/internet before I knew if this survey was going to do well. And as I'm not as involved with most other places of the Homestuck Fandom as I am here, there is always the possibility that my solicitation for the survey will get met with "GTFO dumbass nobody knows who you are or what you're talking about".

That's not going to stop me from trying, though.

Again, this poll shows the vast amount of girls on the forum, something a lot of people are surprised about. I'm awaiting the results of the rest of the poll!

Honestly? That was the plan after waking up to 200 more Data Points than I'd bargained for.

However when I announced that the 413 spot hadn't been taken, there was a mad rush for it. So I ended up with 4 more Data Points than I'd intended.

Well, only 417 people were polled, out of basically thousands of different fans. So, this basically comes down to luck based on which people took the survey.

I'm thinking of this primarily as a forum survey, in which case 400 is a pretty good sample. There are a lot of things that could have thrown that off, though. It's possible we have a lot of male lurkers, for one.

I guess that's mainly because the Youtube viewers of my Homestuck videos mainly seem to be female.

Actually, that was more than I expected! From what I've seen on Tumblr, and of course the fact that Homestuck is supportive of bi/homosexuality, it's kind of like going to a gay bar and asking the sexuality of the patrons

Every question except the last few essay questions (The ones about what you would change about Homestuck, what your favorite part is, ect.) will be tallied up.

The reason the shipping questions were "Essay" questions is because I couldn't even BEGIN trying to list all of the shipping combinations in HOmestuck. Because there are over 500 of the things. mO and I did the math one time in the Vriska thread and it came out to a pretty ridiculous number.

I might be able to get to section 2 of the Survey today. The Location data is holding me up a bit because I forgot that Great Britan has had its name changed in the past century. So I had to go back and fix some of that to avoid some Time-Traveler Confusion.
