Achewood
I'm genuinely surprised no one has brought up this comic before.
Achewood is quite the unique animal. I read what must be over 50 comics, and Achewood's approach to humor is unlike anything else I've ever read. There's a real genuineness to the dialog and a nonconventional approach to punchlines that I really like. It is, admittedly, hard to get into though. The uncouth humor and simple, largely uninteresting art have turned off quite a few people I've tried to show the comic to.
If you are interested in checking out the comic but don't want to start from the beginning (valid, I think, since so few comics are good in the beginning), I suggest starting with this arc, The Great Outdoor Fight. It's sublime. I'd actually very much like to dub it once I figure out how to edit.
So,whaddya youse guys t'ink a dis comic?

Re: Achewood
I started reading Achewood in 2009, which is unfortunate, because it was shortly after this point that the comic began its slow, brutal death spiral.
I enjoy most of the comic, but reading everything written from about 2010 on (what little there is), it's clear that Chris Onstad does not enjoy making comics anymore.

Re: Achewood
Oh man, Achewood was one of my favorite comics ever. You're right in saying there's absolutely nothing like it. It's a shame that it's been dying a painful, drawn-out death for the last several years... I wish Chris Onstad would get into long-form writing, since that's obviously what he wants to do now. (He pretty much explicitly said so in an interview) I would love to see a novel or series of short stories with Ray, Beef and the rest or even just an unrelated work from him. Dude's a great writer and it's a shame to see his talent languishing.

Re: Achewood
I've been following Achewood for a few years, really sad to see it try to drag itself along like this. Archives are still great to read anyway. Too bad they destroyed the comments, there were some real gems in there as well (though of course that's not really relevant).

Re: Achewood
Yeah, there was a lot of great stuff in the comments section. Sometimes it was just as funny as the actual comic.
