Beyblade: And why Hasbro has to ruin everything (Beywheelz??????)

So as of like, a year or two ago, Beyblade came out with a new system that used 4 pieces.

A Plastic Piece + Facebolt (Energy Ring)
    A Metal Wheel (Fusion Wheel)
    A Plastic attachy part (Spintrack)
    and a Tip (Performance Tip)

So, these come out in Japan first, through Takara Tomy, which is p much like Japanese Hasbro.

Hasbro gets them in America. Aside from really shitty name changes (Gravity Perseus becomes Gravity Destroyer? Ray Unicorno becomes Ray Striker?), they do a pretty good job of faithfully retaining the parts.

    Until the 4D series.

4D is new in that alot of the sets have "mode changes", where the Fusion wheel is broken into multiple parts, often a Main piece, a PVC ring, and a smaller metal ring that is often rotated to get different effects.

Hasbro said, no, fuck that. It's all one piece.

There's also new Performance tips that are the opposite, fused together Spintrack and Performance tip, often with really unique gimmicks.

Hasbro said, again, fuck that. We use older pieces.

So basically they decide to be lazy and fuck up the new sets.

None of the multi-part Fusion wheels remain, instead being one piece. None of the one part fancy 4D tips remain, being older parts.

And you probably saw the big question in the topic title.

Hasbro is like, fuck that, we want toys that 5 year olds will buy for no fucking reason.

    And so:

"Hey, so let's take our tops, make them out of rubber, and flip them turnways. Flywheels totally wasn't a failure, right?"

(Also look at that douchey face the guy on the right is making.)
    ugh.

Why? Four words: Card Games on Motorcycles.

    Also, one word: Gimmick.

... Is the guy on that box cover blond Andy Samberg? The resemblance is uncanny.

Well. I do not approve of what they have done to the new 4D Beyblades. There seemed to be some nice potential in them as they were originally supposed to be... :/ Knowing me I'll like all this stuff anyway, though, because I seem to lack the ability to distinguish high-quality things from low-quality things.

I still remember when the Beyblades in the toy stores had the metal plating pieces inside. They don't do that anymore because the metal plating inside was dangerous for kids, so it was moved to hobby stores instead. I think I still have my original Dragoon Beyblade somewhere in my room too. Me and my sister visited the the Beyblade competition hosted by the Weird on Wheels van, and my sister got chosen to play in the competition! And she got second place, which is pretty sweet! She won some Beyblade merchandise and a $50 gift certificate. It was loads of fun. Beyblade was FAR more awesome back then, anyone who wasn't there for the first year truly missed out on some awesome fun.

EDIT: Yes, I was a big fan of the show too.

The next step is then card games on tanks.

Also, the fact that they use 16-year-olds in their ads to appeal to an audience of mostly 10-year-olds is dumb but effective. Dumb as in WHY THE HELL SHOULD THIS WORL

I used to build legobeyblades a buncha years back. Yes, you heard me right. and i am telling you, that shit was way better than that newer trash there. They absolutely murdered the ordinary beyblades though, and two of them against each other usually ended in one of them shattering horribly. Reassembly was a bitch. A good dense square design was the most effective, all of those fancy edges just made them worse really. We used an old tv parabol thing for arena, shit was curved so the damn things always ended up smashing horribly into each other. Hell, we even sent our designs to Lego, though ofcourse they were rejected.

Great times, that. I still have some of the broken remains of my actual beyblades.
I really should see about getting a new signature.

After one too many complaints of ruined bathtubs, they had to crank it down a notch.

This is why I just watch the anime and try not to bash my head against a wall every time I see these things in a wall mart next to the bakugan and etc.
Well then I'll make an adventure!
And it'll have black jack, and motorcycles, AND HOOKERS!

Actually, it was more like ten years ago not that I think about it.

For all of like, four weeks. Then the Game Boy Advance came out and everybody forgot about it and went back to the pokeymans.

    *le sigh.
Hasbro's doing it's usual business again, then.

Like their new ideas for Transformers:
"Hey, let's make them SMALLER, and then charge almost twice the price! Then we get 4x as much money!"
    "You're a genius!"
    "I know I am."

It works because of little kid logic. "If the big kids do it, so it must be cool!".

I remember using beyblades, these new ones just look like the old ones to me... am I missing something (except the metal weight being bigger)?
I remember that at first I had a stadium for them with open edges. So many furniture legs were ruined that day.
And I broke all but 2. Those ended up with the heaviest weights and stashed away somewhere, likely never to be seen by me again.
