That, or... well, Sigrid got greedy this time. She took EVERYTHING. Other folks have clearly been swindled, but they're not impoverished. She takes a little here, a little there, but for some reason she swindled every single septim off Katia, and everything she owned. Katia noticed this where others were more willing to regard their donations (which were smaller, at least relative to their actual wealth) as genuinely made of their own free will.

I'm not sure this speaks of incredible mental fortitude, considering that Katia can't even shove US out of her head, as much as it speaks of the fact that it is impossible for Katia not to notice just how badly she was taken for.

This is also exactly why she can't look to others for help here.

Katia: This is it. This is your moment. The instance that the gods put you on this world for. Everything points to it. Don't you see it? Your fear of authority figures, your arrival in this land, the recent discovery of your birth sign. And now you've run into this manipulative witch that has humiliated you, betrayed your trust, and has been a leech on the people of this city. She's a thief, a tyrant, hiding behind her pretty face and charming potions. No one else has been able to resist her. Except you.

Your adventure in the ruins, the discovery of powers you never knew you possessed, your unorthodox training from Asotil....you have been tested, prepared for this moment, and it seems that only you can set this right. You're not just a mage: you are a hero. A clumsy hero with a talent for screwing simple tasks up, but a hero nonetheless, and it seems that you are at your very best when doing something crazy, unplanned. It's time for Katia Managan to step it up and save the day. You can do it.

Alright, Katia. Time to begin again - if we're not going to confront Sigrid, then there's only one other place we can go.
You need gold, and it's time to prove yourself.
You're not going to fail just like THAT, damnit!
    Go to the Arena.
If not for Quill-Weave, then for yourself.
    You can turn this around.

    Re: PREQUEL suggestion box

Katia, before you act, consider that:

    1. If Sigrid didn't have a great means of securing her Mage's Guild against enraged 'donors,' she wouldn't have that enormous heap of gold in it.

    2. Most people in Kvatch like Sigrid, meaning they weren't able to shake off her spell (or whatever) like you were.

So don't attack the Mages' Guild to get your stuff back -- you were lucky to get out of there alive once, and don't want to push your luck too far. See if you can find anyone who'll take in a stray cat for the night (no offense intended -- but playing up the cuteness and feline-ness might be a wise choice right now); maybe you could even try to make amends with the tavernkeeper you accidentally offended earlier in the day.

Only do this if the tavern's closed and the lights upstairs are still on, though -- don't want to add insult to injury by waking him up.

Don't leave Kvatch yet if you can find clothes -- you can get some machete lessons in the morning (assuming you can get another machete). Also, you can probably win enough money in the arena to at least come back with a copy of the book you're trying to replace -- although you aren't required to take that suggestion.

I don't think a charm potion can deny simple fact. It can scew perspective, but fact is fact. the value of the magic books is arguable so the book keeper never realised that he should be charging more. You were standing naked in the street. no perspective can scew that fact that you are compleatly nude in the street. If she had let you keep your clothing, you might have never noticed.

Katia: Your lockpick. Use it to get back inside, get dressed REALLY QUICKLY, grab the package and get out. If Sigrid confronts you, pelt her with fireballs. It'll be relatively easy because she won't be expecting you to have come to your senses so quickly.

Contact Nah(?) if you get the chance, as well. She could be a valuable friend now that you both have something in common - a reason to hate Sigrid.
because she has connections with Sigrid - she might be able to help you get any of your things back.

Nah is ok with sigrid. In fact, she acts against her principles where sigrid is involved and is unable to give a good reason why.

    Argh! Right!
    I forgot about that!
Thanks for reminding me - the mysteries continue to compound.

Also I take back all my suggestions that imply fire would be in any way useful currently.

God damn it Katia, I turn my back for one second and this happens. well Im done being silent in the back of your head. Can I not trust a milk drinking Khajiit to accomplish anything aside from filling their pockets full of gold when no one is looking. Alright Katia we are going to fix this. Magic does no figure into this equation katia, it was not a charm spell that she used to con you out of your belongings. It was her perfume, it must have some alchemical property's in it that makes you trust and adore her. Lucky for you that means a similar potion can make you immune to the effects. Of course such a potion would not be cheap. I recommend the Arena, I know it embarrassing to pole dance in front of strangers, but it is less embarrassing then loosing all your stuff to a cheap trick. Also try asking around town to see who else she has swindled, Im sure a few people have realized her trick but can legally do nothing. Remember Katia, there is only you and hundreds of voices in your head, and we dont exist. Only you can fix this mess.

She got all your stuff, you don't want to be a criminal, you aren't the heroic type, and she had you sign a (legal?) contract.
Knock on the door and tear up. Ask her nicely and then give her the big kitty eyes. If she doesn't fall for it...
Drink some booze. You've gone on two rampages before while drunk and with no regard to public safety. So, ask her for some whiskey. At least you would bring the guild down with you if you can't get your stuff back.

Mystery? It's the charm potion, duh.

If, at any point, we must have revenge, we break open her entire spray bottle and empty it onto her. Then we run.

    Re: PREQUEL suggestion box

Katia, you have probably realised by now that you need to get your stuff back from Sigrid, and so I suggest you should try and think of a way of getting them back to finish your quest and to avoid disappointing Quil Weave again.

I was going to suggest talking to the local authorities or even the Imperial Legion, but do you remember Asotil? Yeah, he's not going to help you, nor should you expect the local guard to help you. She's got both of them wrapped around her finger.

However, and this is going to sound a bit crazy if anything, you should try to speak to the person who gave you the spongy thing on your right eye and helped you out of the well. You know, the vampire? Yeah, she didn't seem to like Alchemists or that stealing bitch Sigrid either.

I mean, Sigrid seemed like a nice person, and she turned out to be a completely evil, stealing bitch. Maybe that vampire will turn out to be different, after all, you shouldn't be reading a book by it's cover like you just did.

Do I have to remind you of what race you are? Khajits don't have a great reputation, and your kind tends to be picked out from the crowd and judged, all of that for just for being Khajit. Don't do what they do, don't become like them.

    Give the vampire a chance!

*slow claps* Bravo Katia, you managed to neglect the single, most important advice every sane people have been telling you ever since you started this... petty adventure of yours - AVOID THE FUCKING KVATCH GUILDHALL.

Really Katia, is it really that easy for you not to hear the advice you're given? Are you doing this on purpose?! Katia, there are shittons of other Guildhalls spread all across the land and you managed to chose the one people have been trying to tell you to avoid!... The outcome?: you fucked up - again.

You know what, fuck it Katia, if you want to be successful, you might as well start by doing 2 things right now:

    1) START FUCKING LISTENING TO THE THINGS PEOPLE TELL YOU.

    2) Try to get some fucking clothes. Or do you wanna get the same reputation you already have at Anvil? I can get the pinneapple.

... Oh and by the way, might as well start by following this very, very useful piece of advice - don't. Fucking. Try. To get in there again. You'll only make matters worse and it's pretty clear you're never going to see your belongings soon.

    Re: PREQUEL suggestion box

It's very clear that there are a lot of clever RP-ers on here. Some of these ideas to get your stuff back are amazing.

Unfotunately, as nobody can agree on what to do, we're going to end up driving Katia into doing something stupid, such as running back inside without taking time to prepare. 2/3 seem to be in favor of jumping back in to the most dangerous place in town while naked, only about 1/3-2/5 seem to be at all interested in backing off for now. Here's a hint- Uber powerful wizards with undodgable area of effect mindrape skills? DON'T RUN AT THEM AND SLAP THEM! It can only end in you being persuaded to stand on a small platform above a tank full of starving frostbite spiders, imported from Sigrid's native skyrim just for, ahem, 'Waste disposal'. And then you can chose between food or no food- that is, starving or being eaten alive.

OR, we can back off and come back after doing some leveling. Get the girl a steel staff... Wait, they removed staves from blunt in this one, didn't they? Eh, whatever, get her a steel staff anyway, and train her how to use it in a fight. Possibly learn to do fun stuff with your fire magic by training in manipulating the form and density of your magic before and after setting it alight. Get stronger and faster. Then, when you're sure you've gotten strong enough to beat sigrid in a fair fight, invest in some noseplugs or a clothespin before arranging the fight as much in your favor as possible. Fair fights are overated.

To be perfectly honest, it is probably best to just bide our time and train at the fighter's guild or collect money with some odd jobs. Jumping through a window at a dangerous wizard isn't really what we need right now. The stolen goods are not going to move anywhere anytime soon, as we saw in the guildhall, the masses of unspent gold lying on the floor. So it is probably best to just take our time and make a move when we are completely ready.

Apparently, there are still some a-holes on this thread who want Katis to drink. Well, fu to each of you, quit screwing around with a good story and botching it up so no one else can enjoy it.
Now that that's said, I believe the Imperial Legion will help Katia, if she has evidence against her. Remember, Asotil didn't admire her, he even pointed out that she was a con, but said there was nothing he could do because it's technically legal. That said, there's a hope for getting her stuff back in the papers she signed. If those, which are presumably closer to an entrance to the guild, are destroyed, we will have evidence of stolen goods.

    I'm starting to think that Katia's lockpick is a Chekhov's gun-type item.
Other than that, Katia needs more friends.

Katia you need to get back at Sigrid, but there's no way you'll be able to get near her without her using the same trick on you. Maybe it's time we found out what kind of relationship Sigrid and Stephane have.

Stephane didn't look too happy over dinner, maybe Sigrid has him under a similar charm. Though he is a Breton which means he's very resistant to magic, but still Sigrid's probably powerful enough to charm him all the same.

Katia you dumb bitch, IT'S TIME TO GET MAD.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE THIS, YOU GOT POWER THAT GO'S BEYOND SIMPLE MEN.

CAST ASIDE THAT AMULET, AND LET THE WORLD BURN.

    Or at least that building.
    Just burn it down.
All the gold will be safe, maybe even some of the books.
Blame it on rogue mages just in case.
Can't go wrong, trust me. I'm a Squid.

    Re: PREQUEL suggestion box

    >Katia: NO fire! No Fire! You need subtlety, not Rage induced infernos, to achieve your goals! After all, with fire, you are likely to run out of magicka at the worst possible moment anyway. The voices are just really really mad that they got taken for fools earlier; several of them trusted Sigrid right up until you got charmed, and then were helpless to stop it. Also, Sigrid has taken precautions against people coming in and demanding their stuff back; she has no doubt taken precautions against people coming in and trying to violently take their stuff back. If you go in there with Fire and Claw, expect Sigrid to use powerful Alchemy, Magic, pre-prepared traps, allies, and more against you. Are you sure you can manage that? Besides, she might just charm you again if you don't have a defense prepared against that as well!
