I also approve (and add to the problem), especially for situations like this where not only is Kaz inactive, but when Katia has just been royally screwed. I and several other people seem to have signed up for this occasion, mostly out of frustration no doubt.

(e.g. I've made it up to 22 posts just in this thread alone.)

    Weeeeell, you can't blame people.
when shit like this happens AGAIN, you just can't help but want to chastise someone... something.

We were all screaming warnings long before she even entered the guild - something that was CLEARLY a horrible, HORRIBLE idea from the onset -- entering the ONE guild that EVERYONE she had ever mentioned it to had switched-up into "serious fucking business" mode and told her to watch her fucking back and/or been so obviously weird about sigrid herself (in the case of ASOTIL) that there is NO POSSIBLE WAY anyone with 1/10th of a brain would have considered it a good idea to just walk the fuck in and attempt to sign up...

there are.. what? NINE other mages guilds in cyrodiil? and she tries to sign up at THE MOST SHADY ONE OF ALL.

with ALL OF US screaming at her not to.

    It's plot rails.
You can take the odd left or right turn every couple miles, and tell the driver to slow down or speed up, but you're still on rails.
And these once again, were heading for butt-nekked disaster.

    Re: PREQUEL suggestion box

Not everyone was screaming warnings. A lot of people were encouraging Katia to check out the Mages' Guild and trust Sigrid. You exaggerate when you say that "all of us were screaming at her not to."

It's not plot rails. It's democracy laced with a touch of narrative awareness. A lot of people wanted Katia to go to the Mages' Guild. A few people wanted Katia to stay away. Katia went with the opinion of the majority, but even if as many or slightly more people had wanted her to skip the Guild, it would have been anticlimactic and out of character for her to avoid it. We aren't controlling her. We're giving her advice and criticism. It's not plot rails. It's a cruel, difficult world where Murphy's Law is the ruling principle and Katia acts within the boundaries of her character and situation on the advice of the audience.

Essentially yes. I accept this though, as Katia is both: A) an idiot, and B) clinically insane.

Yup, All of us were screaming at her "NO".
Well, All of us except the large amount of people who were screaming at her "QUICKLY! GO TO THE GUILD!"

And the one person who had realy convincing arguments to stay.

The suggestions don't matter anyway. The rest of the world is Controlled by Kaz anyway. Sigrid could have been evil or nice.

It's funny actually. Long before reading Prequel, whenever I'd talk to Sigrid I'd always seem to think "complete bitch" in my mind, seemingly for no reason at all. Maybe it's just her tone, I don't know. That was a long time ago, I was fourteen at the time I think.

Actually it may have been because her prices were crap, or the fact that I thought she was kinda ugly at the time for some reason.

I must say I find much of this whining to be sort of indecent. Here we are served good, FREE entertainment and even an opportunity to influence it to some extent and what do people do? They are behaving in a not-so-gratifying(can you say that, "gratifying"?) way and complain about their comments not influencing the story exactly the way they would like it to. This is perhaps not the right place to point it out, but you are given more than you should ever expect without having to do anything for it but read and enjoy. You should be trying to inspire through this tread, not serving petty complaints that honestly do not belong anywhere. As for the selfish part of this, I would probably instantly combust if this *voiced* (apparent) lack of gratitude were to result in the artist losing interest in making this comic, and stopped drawing it. Artists run on props if they don't get money for the work, try to THINK a little before you write posts in circumstances like these. The day Kaz is not looking forward to reading this tread is the day I am mentally slapping anyone whos fault it is.

    Now I say good day.

To be fair, if Katia always followed the obvious suggestions, like "don't drink the booze", this would be a very boring story.

    Re: PREQUEL suggestion box

Katia: Let's make it simple. Get your ass off the floor. Go to the guard tower. Say you were robbed and ask them to do their duty of protecting the citizens of the Cyrodill. They'll give you shelter, food and perhaps some old clothes. It's something. You'll see what you can do in the morning, when you're fed and rested. That's if you still want to be someone.

    I know!

Time for preemptive commands while we wait! Let's build a backlog of good advice for Katia and hopefully head off any future disasters!

Katia> So you got some money again, great! Ignore anyone who suggests you invest in Kvatch real estate. Housing market is too unpredictable.
Katia> Put the amulet of silence on the attacking wizard's chest, then claw his neck with your free hand.
Katia> Remember to stock up on restore attribute potions before heading into Vas.

Katia: you still have options, and you need to know that you must be proactive instead of hoping things will fall in your lap.

    >Be a prostitute. You can easily get money to buy clothes, a proper weapon, Quill-Weaves book, and another note with what you earn. Find someone lonely who needs company, hell you're lonely too, so it’s a win-win. Don’t drink and remain in control. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a sex-worker if you do it by your will. That guy by the fire out front might be in need of you.

    >Jump Steve and beat the shit out of him with your claws, take his stuff, and use what you take to start over with. You wouldn’t get in trouble by the guards since he wronged you first.

    >Tell a guard you’ve had your things stolen. I know Cyrodiil, if you even touch something that doesn’t belong to you *all* the guards will come down on you. They’ll get you your things back.

    >Stop crying. Manigan up. And extract what is yours from the world.

This is a jolly good mess indeed.

Kaz: Ignore all comments which do not clearly contain "Katia:" or ">" to filter out a percentage of nonsense.

Seeing as how my comment already contains "Katia:".

Sigrid: Notice that there is criminal blood on the belt received in Katia's belongings. Due to this you most likely would not be able to pawn the belt along with the rest of the outfit. Without the belt the outfit would be incomplete and ultimately of little worth. Have Stephane go outside and place the outfit in the trash posthaste.

    Re: PREQUEL suggestion box

Maybe it's too early to ask this, but as it seems that Katia will end up drinking alcohol, a good candidate for a hangover would be M'aiq the Liar. The reason: he has a negative opinion about people who walk around naked (unlike its predecessor), he runs faster than a horse (which would explain how Katia waking up in Quill-Weave) and there is a possibility Kathy getting pregnant.

Katia, go to the guards! You just got robbed blind, this is EXACTLY what they're there for! Tell them that Sigrid used a charm spell on you and took your things. Don't go into how crazy everything else in there was, let them see it for themselves and draw their own conclusions. They all saw you earlier today being a perfectly respectable citizen, they'll believe you. Now go!

Are people actually reading this story?

The guards will do nothing. Not because they don't believe Katia, but because Sigrid has technically done nothing illegal, has paperwork to prove it, and if the guards begin to doubt at all, she has a very effective weapon of persuasion. (The perfume, you filthy minded jerks!)

The last thing we need is more scrutiny on the Mage's Guild by the guards.
