Sen Tripletts is kind of vulnerable. It's an artifact, a not very tough creature, and it's expensive which leaves it open to counter magic. I guess to combat this maybe get a Leonin Abunas. You might want to go all out and out Esper with an Ethersworn Adjudicator, Lux Canon, and other good artifacts. Still this is kind of vulneable and I can't think of a good way of taking advantage of a hand you can see but may or may not be able to cast spells from. :/
I'm not really wanting this deck to be a "whoa crush everything" deck, or, hell, even a "do remotely well" deck. I want it to be a hilarious deck that's lots of fun to play.
Sen Triplets just seems like the world's funniest card.

My only suggestions on the list are to just build Esper control, but don't use draw spells
Mana artifacts are good, but draw is pointless since you have all the spells you need in other players' hands
That's pretty much what I was planning.

Anyone going to their local AVR prerelease tomorrow?

Yeeesss, I am so pumped for the Prerelease tomorrow, its about the only serious Magicking I've done in forever.

I was thinking, would Torpor Orb + Treacherous Pit-Dweller/Vexing Devil/Demonlord of Ashmouth/other negative ETB effects make for a decent deck, or would it be more "eh" than anything?

Oh. I'm totally the wrong person to ask then. Bit of a Spike even though I only play Limited. :/

God I wish. Except I've promised myself not to do Magic while I have major projects on the backburner.

Restoration is the nuts what are you talking about. Tournament level card right there.

Re: Magic: The Gathering: The Thread: The Continuation

My LGS's first prelease starts in two hours... Gonna be the least exciting of the two since I know more people going to the second prerelease on Sunday, the only one with a Helvault.

(Speaking of which, anyone here see one open yet?)

Re: Magic: The Gathering: The Thread: The Continuation

Just got done with my prerelease, I'd love to go to a second one, but don't have any money. :c
Didn't get a Tamiyo but did pull a couple good angels and a Misthall Griffen if I'm remembering the name correctly. Didn't do as well as I could have. In the first and second games my deck refused to cooperate and in the last round I lost by one life, so :/

i know but it's not what i want
i play prereleases to get a proper feel for the set and to get a headstart on deckbuilding
the deckbuilding is actually more important... so when i don't get what i need for next week's FNM i get sad. :v

I'm back from it! I was 1-3...but it doesn't matter!!!! Everyone was very nice, most were skilled, but I was not complete decimated. I ran a w/u human deck that focused on drawing. I also pulled my First Mythic (Bonfire of the Damned)! I was really glad I ended up going.

Some of the SWAG I got at the prerelease

Re: Magic: The Gathering: The Thread: The Continuation

Welp, that took entirely too long (just under 8 hours) but it was definitely a lot of fun. Went 4-2 and 10th overall out of 40-something people, was running WU with a splash of Red for Gisela. I pulled her and Avacyn in my initial 6 packs, which was freaking awesome, but I traded them for some EDH cards since it seems to be the only thing my friends play now :P And then I got two extra packs and pulled a Primal Surge out of those. So I had a good time, but I'm about Magicked out for a while.

Re: Magic: The Gathering: The Thread: The Continuation

i got a large griselbrand and sigarda from someone who doesn't play commander
    and a billion d20
i could start my own dice bowl ouo

    ...
this is without actually paying for today's helvault prerelease, although i'm going to tomorrow's.

(and i'm building a Mafia/Werewolf themed deck around Gallows at Willow Hill, because lol.)
((help i have caught the deckbuilding fever hellllppppppppp))

Honestly, I've begun to love long tournaments. It's kinda like running a marathon to me, it just feels important.

Re: Magic: The Gathering: The Thread: The Continuation

I dunno, the past few TCG tourneys I've been to have taken all day, between States for Pokeymanz and just a simple Prerelease. Part of the reason it bugs me is that more than half of the time is just downtime between games. I mean its still fun and all, just tiring, you get tired of waiting.

I finally cracked open the Commander decks I've had for months, I picked them up a while back when Target had the "two decks for 10 bucks" bundle from damaged products. I traded for a looooot of good EDH stuff for just a Scavenging Ooze, I'm shocked by how much they're worth, but hey, awesome deal for me.

Re: Magic: The Gathering: The Thread: The Continuation

Waiting around at my game store for today's prerelease with only one other person =\ I really hope at least a few more people show up.

Went 2-2 yesterday with a pretty sweet RW deck splashing Black for some removal and that reverse Sanguine Bond. I've played RWB in the majority of Innistrad block events I've played so far without even trying to I guess I really am a Kaalia player at heart

Re: Magic: The Gathering: The Thread: The Continuation

Against my better judgement, I went to today's prerelease too. Went 3-2 with my RWG deck, netting me 10th place again but only 1 pack this time due to less players. Didn't pull anything too great, got a Craterhoof Behemoth and an Infinite Reflection, and a Alchemist's Refuge in my prize pack, so those'll be good in my RUG Commander deck.

I dunno if I should play RU or RUG for my Commander deck... I kinda want to try a Jhoira of the Ghitu or Niv-Mizzet deck, but I'd kinda miss the huge drops and ramp of green.

Descent into Madness makes me want to do some very naughty things with Proliferate
I'm not exactly sure what the advantage of stacking it up would be, since it wipes you out just as hard as your opponents
might be possible to create some engine that protects you from its effects or somehow gain triggered-effect benefit from everything leaving the battlefield... I'll think about it

I was going to suggest Sigarda but it turns out you control it so you can't get protection from it. Then I thought about donating it but then your opponent would just sac it. Hmm.

A dude at my LGS asked his girlfriend to open the Helvault.

Inside she found an engagement ring.
