    Homestuck TCG (Set 1: ARTISTS NEEDED | PESTERCHUM MEMOS AT 9 EST)


    Homestuck TCG is a card game that I made up bsaed on Homestuck! I've spent the past few days typing up the rule-manual and have been developing cards for the game. I hope that a lot of you guys read the lengthly rules and learn to play. In the future, I plan to post of the cards for printing for those of you that want to print-and-play. I've also made a 2x1ft two-player mat that I will be posting sometime in the near future

    THE GAME WAS CREATED PURELY FOR FUN AND I DON'T PLAN TO PROFIT OFF OF THIS

    If you guys have any questions about the game, any updates, or just have recommendations for cards, feel free to say so!

    Rules ChangeLog
    These are just things I may have changed or forgotten to mention in the Rule Manual

    1. Four copies of a card to a deck. Doesn't matter which card or which deck; only 4
    2. Grit counter attacks are NOT affected by defense. A grit of 15 will always deal 15 damage
    3. It now takes 10 grit to reduce moxy by 1. I changed this from 5 becasue it seemed like moxy wasn't helpful at 5.
    4. Matesprit effects affect the other character. If Char1 and Char2 are in a matespritship, Char2 will get Char1's effect and Char1 will get Char2's effect
    5. There has been addition of Weapon-Types, Race, and World to the Characters. These are just used to add further specification and will be referenced in effects.
    6. A new system for alchemization will be used. Instead of needing specific cards, each item will have a list of attributes. Epic Items have a list of attributes needed to create it.
    7. A different system for God Tiering is being used. Instead of Random GTing, it requires the need of the event "Quest Bed" during death.
    8. Status ailments are being determined through dice rolls instead of coin flips. To inflict a status ailment, your dice roll must be higher than the defending character's moxy.

    If you want to claim a specific card, just pm me what you want, and I'll edit it into the spreadsheet.


    Guidelines on a Card Image

    For a Basic Char, Basic Equipment, Event, or Minion, the size must be 800 x 600 pixels. Characters can just be drawn in any pose seen fit. It's okay for them to have items/weapons. For events, just try and capture the scene that you think the event would look like (check "He is Already Here").

    For an Epic Char, Epic Equipment, or End-Boss, the size must be 800 x 1200 pixels.

    I would prefer to have a background on every image to be used if possible.

    Try to make every image in RGB for now. A copy in CMYK would also be useful.

    Signatures are allowed in the art, but please try not to include any other text unless it is pertinent to the image.


    The Design & Concept Team

    The Design & Concept team is in charge of making sure that effects are balanced/helpful/interesting/etc. It is also in charge of gameplay mechanics. Anyone can suggest ideas, but only we will be able to approve or deny the idea.

    Right now, I will be primarilly focusing on getting my characters finished for set 1. After I finish the characters I will move onto the other types of cards. This is why it looks like I've done absolutely nothing for them. Also, I am missing good pictures of Karkat or the Alpha Kids. First person to respond helping that will receive an imaginary hug

    I don't usually support card/tabletop Homestuck games, but this, I support the FUCK out of this.

    Also I can think of several good Karkat pictures, but I'm not sure which style you're looking for

    If you need an imp, this is the only one I could find (At least at the one site, anyway.) May or may not be what you're looking for.



    Are you also accepting alternate pictures of characters, just to have some more variety in the cards?

    Oh yes! I will definitely be captchalogging that picture! It's perfect. And I may make characters with alternate abilities in future sets, so if you have a picture that you want me to use, just post it up!

    I finished a list of the stats on all of the basic characters for Set 1! If you don't like the stats on one of the characters, feel free to post about which one you don't like and why. If it makes sense I can change it in half a second!

    Also, two things I forgot to mention in the rule book was that you can only have four copies of any card, and that grit counter attacks aren't affected by defense.

    FowlJ, thanks for the Equius/Imp pictures, if possible, could you send me the links to where you found them? I don't want to just steal people's work and not give credit to them

    What do you guys think? Vriska can stand strong by herself, but her matespritship effect makes Tavros's first attack do a LOT of damage over time

    I would like to play this.

    I read through the rulebook; what I think that you need is some beta-testing, so you don't have to rely purely on conjecture and theory. You should print off a bunch of decks and play it with your friends to see how it goes.

    I think the biggest issue is definitely going to be the end-boss fight. If someone's only end-boss is just a version of the Black King, and the other guy plays Bec Fuckin' Noir, you're pretty much screwed. Also, the way it's set up, it seems that the length of the game up to that point is arbitrary.

    You should have it so that they can summon the end-boss at any point, like with a card labelled "He Is Already Here", and have the win condition not to beat the boss, but to destroy your opponent's matespritships / kismessitudes (i.e., only one character maximum on any of your hearts/spades). That way there's strategy, rather than relying on stronger cards.

    But again, this is just more conjecture. People need to be playing this.

    I love the fact that you took the time to read through my rule manual and t create a poet with a lit of helpful information. I definitely plan on beta testing the hell out of this game once I finish Set 1, but alas, Set 1 is not yet finished. Right now, I'm treating getting those cards finished as my primary goal.

    I don't see End-Bosses as the biggest problem to the game. Because there will (probably) only be one End-Boss per set, I will make sure that they are pretty balanced with each other. I was actually afraid that I was making my first End-Boss a bit too hard (If a bunch of characters got prototyped) Even though I'm going to make a Bec Fuckin' Noir in the next set, I promise he won't have like 1000 hp and will constantly deal 100 D
    dmg. Each boss will be equally hard.

    I am absolutely thrilled by the "He is Already Here" card. That will definitely be included in the first set, Although I will have to give it a larger grist cost as to make sure that people aren't attacking the end-boss by minion 3.

    I'm not exactly sure what you mean by changing the win-condition to destroying the opponent's matespritships. I fear that if the win-condition were changed to that, people would completely ignore the addition of minions. I feel that there is strategy to the game, as people will need to carefully plan out their decks and will need to learn to make good decisions while playing the game (ex. Letting a half dead nepeta in an empty matespritship die off instead of filling it with someone)

    I think I may have to slightly modify how Grit works against Moxy. I was just looking over my stats, and I realized that people with 15+ grit, (primarilly Equius and Gamzee) will ALWAYS inflict a status ailment. Effects like Tavros's attack become completely useless, as why not just pair Vriska and Equius, as Equius has superior stats to Tavros. Because of this, I think every 10 grit will cancel out one moxy. This gives people with 3 Moxy like Rose a real advantage, as they will almost never get Status Ailments. I feel taht simply changing that will greatly balance the game. How do you guys feel about this?

    This is gonna be something that your gonna need to test in actual games for a bit.

    Finished two cards today!



    FowlJ, I decided to use the Equius you suggested for an epic character because the image wasn't big enough to fit an entire card. I don't really plan to even make Equius into epic though, although we never know what could happen. Hussie could make an entirely new tier on Friday for all we know

    Hey guys, this I just wanted to let you know that this project is still live! I've been incredibly busy for the past 3 days, so I haven't been able to make any new cards. Today I was free so I decided to produce 3 of them!



    My mind has been going incredibly blank for effects that fit the characters, so if you guys have any suggestions, feel free to post!

    That one could perhaps be for a justice themed event. That would be neat.

    Also, I wanted to ask about something I didn't really get in the rulebook: When two characters are in a matespritship, do both characters get both effects, or do they get their own effects, or do they trade effects? That didn't really feel like it was made clear.
