Customized themes created by forum-goers. Is that possible?
It would require you to put out a sort of "base-skin" image or set of images, but I don't think that would be all too much of a bad idea. There could be a thread where users create their own custom themes and share them with each other.

Does that sound like a feasible idea? Aside from the amount of work it might take to design a custom theme.
I'm guessing a lot of the theme is generated by code and not by images. Perhaps that's not such a good thing to put out in the open? I'm not sure. I don't know how themes work, do be honest. It's probably half images and half code, though.

There are client side solutions like Stylish that will allow you to theme the forum to your heart's content.

The search box has been altered to remove the standard database search and now uses a custom Google search of the site. This should significantly increase forum performance by reducing that load on the server. There will still be an advanced search option and the ability to search by user or in specific subforums, threads, or tags.

A thought just struck me: will Google be able to see inside spoilers? AFAICT the normal Google search cannot, and spoilers are the standard way of enclosing conversations in some forum adventures I read.

I think it depends on the type of spoiler. Google really doesn't like the type that require you to highlight, as people often use that as a way to link spam their way higher in the search results. But I don't think it has any problem with text inside clickable spoilers. Let's find out. After it's been up a few hours, google the non-word in the spoiler. If you want, add site:mspaforums.com.

Is there any chance the server's going to get looked at after the skin?
We've had a lot of downtime recently and it's far more of a pain than the fact that the forum doesn't look as sparkly as it could.

At least I can rest content that in this topic and indeed the banner emblazoning the roof of the forum, I'm not alone in that
