I Gave Up Homestuck for Lent

Why, hello there, Good Friday. I see you there, sitting at the end of this week. What's that, you say? I don't have to work on that day? Well. Well well. I wonder what I'll be doing that morning.

    --EDIT--

Since HS is in my webcomic bookmark folder, I open the page itself whenever I click the "Open All in Tabs" option. I know that I've missed at least one animation, and I almost spoiled its contents for myself on Hussie's tumblr, but I backed out in time.

Giving homestuck up would make me cry like gay pornography makes an elf cry

Instead of giving up Homestuck, you should have slept on the ground.
    That's a saner decision.

There was a RADIOHEAD QUOTE here. It's gone now.

What bothers me most is that you apparently could not bring yourself to delete a bookmark for six weeks.

It's cool you've been able to do it and all but why choose Homestuck in the first place :P

I remember when I used to do this whole thing, with the religion and such.

I wasn't allowed to eat any animal products whatsoever.

I developed a love for vegetarian mayo which has drawn much ire from others.

Like even outside fasting I'd make a sandwich which is just, lettuce and vegie mayo and that's it.

...Normal mayo is weird as is, and now you're saying there's VEGGIE mayo???

Man, it would have been crazy timing if Good Friday had fallen on the next Friday instead.

    Wow, that's pretty crazy.
I just gave up soda for Lent, not nearly as difficult.
    Congrats!

    Friday without Homestuck?

    That's like... Bad Friday.

You should be ashamed of yourself, letting such shmancy-pancy things like religion get the best of you. Everyone should know - Homestuck is far more important!

To me that actually looks more like giving in to his '"temptation"'.

Actually, for Lent, you give it up for a full 40 days.
    Or so.
From the period between Ash Wednesday to Easter.

    HUMAN RELIGIONS SURE ARE WEIRD.

That just makes it Even Worse Friday. A really long Friday, mind. It's like naming something Memorial Day and it turns out it stretches all year long.

It is the same thing as if I declared that I was giving up eating chocolate, and then I spent time each day sniffing and staring at a bar.

If you need to apply your will after having already denied something, or if you purposefully put yourself close to it, then you never truly denied it. You have failed to put it out of your mind. That is a sign of weakness, not a sign of strength.

    I'm not gonna say anything

Except I would like it very much if no one responded to this person

Even if I agreed with your sentiment *which I will leave up to your imagination* he's pretty much right: that is flamebait. I may mess around a bit, but seriously, that's just a bit too far.

Re: I Gave Up Homestuck for Lent

I actually got infracted for saying it. I would like to know what kind of god would want someone to stop reading Homestuck, and I would also like to know why it is wrong to call him unjust, unthinking, uncaring and generally malevolent.

These facts seem in perfect order to me.

    Homestuck: Webcomic of the Gods.
    Literally.

It seems less to me like there's any kind of temptation/not temptation thing going on here and more like he kept forgetting to delete the site from his bookmarks and now with less than a week to go might as well stay the course.

ugh.... I knew this would turn into a religious argument really quickly... Lent is not something that is even mentioned in the Bible. It's just a thing that Catholics and maybe some other denominations do to get better at resisting wordly temptations I guess? I dunno I'm not Catholic. But I mean if Homestuck is separating him from his relationship with God, I guess that is a thing he should give up. Nothing wrong with that.

His dedication is extremely good if he can even resist listening to the new album until Friday. I wouldn't be able to do it :P
