The only thing we've really established is that Jade realizes the two aren't interchangeable. Which is just setting him up for a tragic death on the Battleship if you ask me.

I think a tragic death would probably cause development for Jade, John and Dave, too. I mean, Jade and John would need to face the fact that they can't always save everybody, and that would make Dave question his mortality again. Much more than with Felt Dave, since he was pretty good friend with Davesprite.

Of course, Davesprite dying on the battleship would have to overcome the massive hurdle that is the complete nondanger of the battleship. It would require some silly contrivance or shenanigans to kill off Davesprite, which would almost completely deprive it of dramatic tension.

But if Dave sees Davesprite die before his very own eyes, then yes, I'd say he'd begin to question his mortality again. I really do hope that the sprites will survive though, though I'm fearing for it.
