Re: Game of Thrones Season 2: Spoilers Ahoy!

I laughed, if only because I'm amazed they actually put in that little detail from the novels in.

Kinda disappointed in the House of the Undying - nice effects, but there was just so much important foreshadowing shit in the novels there, and this had... none of it, really.

(Also, Rhaego had silver hair in Dany's visions of him in the novel. Of all the things that are different, I don't know why that bugs me the most, but it does.)

Yeah the HotU thing was kinda disappointing, and I say this even as a non book-reader. The wizard guy looked like an idiot, and I was expecting more weird mindfuckery overall. Her locking Daxos in a vault and stealing all his shit was awesome though.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 2: Spoilers Ahoy!

I sorta of understand why they held back on it - they'd have to cast a few characters just for HotU because Dany sees glimpses of the past as well as the future, and there's a lot of cryptic shit with symbolism that would be hard to translate into moving television. But still, some of the prophecies she hears and sees there pop up again and again in her part of the story, and others are major hints for things to come to pass and things hinted that will come to pass but haven't in the books (at least, as far as I've read) so it was disappointing to miss that for a whole evil plot magic power-up thing (though I do like how they explicitly pointed out how the return of dragons has led to the return of magic into the world as it's a major plot point in the books.) But then again, just about everything Dany has done in the second season is completely different from the books. About the only thing that's kept the same is that she travels to Qarth and Xaro wants to marry her. Oh, and she does go through the House of the Undying.

I was also curious how they were going to deal with Bran's story now that I've read how it goes in the books - the absence of two major characters from his section of the books makes me wonder how in the hell they're going to pull off his part of the story heading forward. On the other hand, the way they're doing it in the TV show means we might actually see Rickon some, as he sorta just disappears into thin air in the books.

I think they are trying to cast the Reeds for the next season, though i doubt anything is set in stone.

Yeah, the Reeds do come into the story next season (they're just two of the ridiculous number of new characters in the process of being cast now). Osha was given their jobs this season, which is fine with me in terms of story - it makes Osha less of a wasted character. There are a LOT of those in the books.

I laughed SO hard at the SURPRISE HORSESHIT. HBO, you never disappoint. Still, not as good as the books, where Tywin dismounts his horse right at the base of the throne, and his horse lets fly practically on Joffrey's feet. Right before that happens, the scene is all about how richly everyone is dressed in court, then Tywin comes in and puts it all in perspective before he even says a word. Go to Sansa's last viewpoint chapter in book 2 if you want to read the scene. The series was pretty faithful to the book, though Sansa having her brief moment of joy was entirely internal in the book - I really like what they did with her here.

You can tell a lot about a Song of Ice and Fire by the fact I didn't even need to read the spoiler to know exactly what scene you were talking about.

Yep. I think I mentioned earlier in the topic that I'm really looking forward to next season when THAT happens. People went totally bugfuck when Lady got killed, imagine what's going to happen with the Red Wedding?

Since book 3 is going to be two seasons, I think we might have to wait till season 4 for that.

I forgot the author's name so I just shouted "Hussie" towards the skies instead.

I hope the story returns to Sam and his awesome heroics for me soon enough. Or Arya, she's still awesome.

The cry of "MARTINNNNNNNNNN!" is a common sight indeed.

Great Apic series u know...which have lots of suspense and all creation was superbly done in it.
Series shows like the lorad of king preparation whose fought about the crown, all episodes good but season 2 is the best running all over.

I've only read the first two books. I've started the first half of the third book (it's split in two in the UK) and it looks like things only go downhill from here, if TV Tropes is any indication.

I wouldn't say downhill. It's more like.. Everything seems to be rolling down a hill but then it suddenly decides to go to a different hill entirely and everything changes.

I found this a good thing.
