All right, after a solid eight hours and some time to think it over, I'm... still pretty sure I want either Tea or MV dead today. Would settle for ~ATH, some of the stuff he said was a little confusing. Light townread on me for little activity? Okay with Inox?

Other than that I'm just kinda mad at Mird and Acio for turning this from Crystalfia to 3pfia for the last five pages, both being approximately as ineffectual for rooting people out.

I honestly don't even know what I'm doing in here anymore though, it's really hard to go and reread properly when you're a claimed 3p and thus have to give no fucks to an extent - this can be seen in my MV thing I mean I semi-skimmed his posts and he came off as scummy but I didn't really dig deep into those so I'd err on the side of Aciocaution there town.

@X: that's because Sotek went and made a game where the goddamn crystals are all important. This is the main reason why mashing your crystals is scummy - we have definite proof that the crystals acted as an amp for at least one town, possibly more. in fact Cat's role would've been utterly useless without the crystals! Scum can't really benefit from just semi-silencing everyone when all the animals have this big-ass group QT. In fact if Dini reaches his wincon, everyone who CAN'T be in said group QT will be dead and gone, meaning that debates for the day would essentially take place in the QT instead of the topic. The fact that you're blatantly ignoring these facts is what's scummy, not the "Hey well let's not give scum any chances" parts

And YOU seem to be ignoring so far how the crystals are important. Let's see what we've found so far.

1) one third party who may or may not have killing powers uses them toward his victory condition.
2) one third party who may or may not be able to pull some game ending bullshit if he manages to have everyone alive crystaled at the same time.
3) Crystals allow players to be slienced, denying them the ability to take part in important discussions.
4) We know that scum get crystals from whoever they kill
5) If we don't elect someone properly at the end of each day, scum get the lynch victim's crystals.
6) Scum can make use of crystals to screw with information flow, and presumably for their own purposes with their own powers.
7) Scum have an innate information advantage that allows them to better take advantage of any and all crystals that they collectively hold.

1) They were useful in a weird way for one town player who is already dead, but could also end up backfiring against that very same power.
2) one potential townie claims to have use for the crystals, or at the very least a way to prevent scum from getting them.
3) Silenced players may chat among themselves in a qt of some sort.
4) there may be other town roles with some potential ways of getting positive effects from crystals.

...Yeah. Explain to me again how this adds up to "OMG DESTROYING CRYSTALS IS BAD FOR TOWN" again? Because I don't trust para enough to give him any (only as a default better than scum 100% getting them) and I don't necessarily trust 3rd party claimers... yeah, I think I'm ok with my decision.

PS x the crystals if used properly are probably far more protown than proscum! You seem to be missing that they can be used for town to form masongroups with each other and can heavily negate scum's information advantage

The silencing is only a hassle towards endgame since you know, people can still vote

x1372 the ability to chat in a QT is actually pretty significant, and I think it's been pretty much confirmed they can change someones roles for the better. We may not want to let mafia get their hands on a bunch of them but that doesn't mean we should just shirk them entirely. I imagine sotek put them in the game for a reason, after all.

Also, it's only day one. It may turn out the crystals have some other uses later on.

@acio I was talking about post #291 where MV claims to have overreacted in calling tea town based on his spat with cat.

Oh, and nine posts later says his whole wall is now untrustworthy because of it. So that was a hold lot of nothing.

@Mirdini, it's not so much that I learned something in the QT, it's more that the mechanics of the crystals coupled with some thoughts about my role as well as a certain other thing that I honestly wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't been looking out for something like it led me to believe that 2 town defensives wasn't as gamebreaking as I initially thought. Then, upon realising how crystals affects certain roles (but not mine), lend credence to the fact that cat was, in fact, telling the truth, particularly when para kinda retroactively confirmed my suspicions about a Thing. That also led to my townread of para.

Man, reading this just sounds even to me like I'm being deliberately obtuse, but from what I can tell I may have already caused too much damage in this game, and I'm acutely aware that I suddenly know Things that I shouldn't make obvious. Luckily, these things only come to light if I actually say them. And if my suspicions are correct, them being out in the public really Don't have any +EV connotations, whilst having maybe a few -EV connotations that are apparent to me.

I still don't like that I got pulled out of the QT before I got to ask Para a certain pertinent question, but eh... It would serve as nothing but a reaffirmation of what I already believe to be true regarding the crystals. The crystals are PRETTY important this game (important in the way, say, a cop guilty is - not NECESSARY for winning the game, but they certainly make things easier - perhaps more then is immediately obvious at the moment). We should treat these things like, say, Coins in DHI, where keeping them out of scum hands is a priority.

Which shouldn't be hard, actually.

I'd like us to spread the Crystals around, actually, but only because if mafia successfully kill someone who has ALL THE COINS ALL OF THEM, they suddenly get them Crystals. I'd rather they were in "Not-Mafia" hands. Acio, Dini and Para all fit.
