Re: AdultStuck Topic III: Dungeon Of Heat And Clockwork

    >Iusta: YES! YES WE'RE HERE! HAPPY NOW KIPLIN?

"YES, WWWWWWWWE ARE FUCKING HERE NOWWWWWWWW. HAPPY KIPLIN!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?"

    "very."

    "GOOD."

    "cool."

    "Gr8."

    "awesome."

Iustia stands up, looking around. She frowns.

"This doesn't seem nearly as wwwwwwwwarm as a metal platform suspended over lavvvvvvvva should be."

"It'2 definitely not real, then. That2 good. Hold on, Iu2tia. We'll get down, uh...One way or another. Just hold on."
    * Dante stands up, brushing the dirt off his suit emphatically, as Meb does the same. Dante turns to Meb and Kiplin, his face puckered up in thought.

    "Nice puckering," says Meb.

"...Thank you. Doe2 anyone have any idea how to get down there? There's no...Obviou2 way from here. There might be some 2tair2 or 2omething on another 2ide, I think, bu-"

"pfffff, th1s 1s easy." Kipling waves her hand dismissively as she steps forward. "1've 6ot th1s."

Er, you do?" asks Dante, scratching the side of his head. "How 2o?"

Kiplin reaches out and grabs them both by the back of their suits. Meb chokes and coughs a little.

"Hey, watch it! You're tearing our 2uit2!"

    "1've 6ot plenty."

    "...What?"

"alley-oop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" yells Kiplin, rearing back and tossing Meb and Dante over the side. Dante proceeds to let out a high pitched, entirely un-dragon like squeal as he falls onto the platform. Meb handles it all with significantly more dignity, flipping over and sticking the landing.

    "I berrlieve that's a 9.5," says Meb, clapping.

"I landed on my a222222222," hisses Dante, sitting up. Iustia squeaks and throws her arms around him.

    "Are you all right????????"

"Uh, yeah, I'm fine. How are you?"

    "Don't wwwwwwwworry a8out me!!!!!!!!"

"...But you fell fir2t. And onto your back."

    "As long as you're okay!!!!!!!!"

Dante blinks at her, then hugs her. "Uh, thank2, I'm, uh, okay."

    "Priorities," murmurs Meb.

"look out below!!!!!!!!" comes a scream from above. They barely have time to look up as Kiplin smashes into the platform. It tips with the force of her landing...and keeps going, tipping further and further until it drops everyone screaming from the platform.

The platform itself flips over entirely, and starts to fall at an angle towards the lava, crashing into and bring down a number of other platforms with it. The whirling death discs bounce off a number of structures, ripping apart buildings and machinery before it crashes into the lava below.

    Our, uh........

    uh...

Our "heroes" (for a given value of "heroes", but it will have to do until Kitty gets back and Anilin calms the fuck down and Dick gets some initiative) have landed on a flat metal platform, this one mercifully much sturdier than the previous one. They get up again, collecting themselves and looking around.

The platform connects to a metal bridge, with a building on the other side. The building seems to extend downward.

"...Well, at lea2t it2 not another long drop," says Dante, helping Iustia up. "Let2 get over into that building and regroup before anything else fall2 apart."

"Uh, boss..." says Meb, quickly, as the other three already begin to walk over the bridge.

    "What i2 it?"

    "Dragon."

    "...What?"

    "Dragon."

All three of them turn back towards Meb, following Meb's finger as it points towards a winged figure in the sky, looping and twirling around gracefully in the air. The dark figure makes an abrupt, impossible turn in the air and dives for the platform.

As it approaches, getting closer, Meb's assertion turns out to be correct: A massive, scaled lizard with bat-like, membrane-covered wings, massive talons, and glowing red eyes rushes the platform at breakneck speed.

The group turns and runs, narrowly getting out of the ways as the dragons crashes into the steel platform, taking out a large portion of it and the bridge. The rest of the bridge bends with the weight of the crashing platform and dragon and begins to break apart as well.

Dante and Iustia manage to reach the safe part of the bridge with easy, Kiplin jumping a short distance as it begins to twist downward. Meb rushes to catch up with them, but before she can reach, the bridge snaps. Meb jumps towards the stable remains at the last minute, reaching for the warped edge of the bridge...

She can't quite make it and begins to fall. There is nothing under her except lava. Her eyes widen, and they can see it.

Dante dives for her hand. Right off the platform.

    Iustia dives for Dante.

Kiplin quickly decides everyone dying in lava would be moronic, and moves to catch one of Iustia's legs.

Dante's hand manages to grab Meb's, stopping her fall. Iustia and Kiplin make their grabs successfully in turn, leaving them all hanging in a chain over the edge of the bridge. Kiplin and Iustia's hats fall off. Dante reaches out his free hand, grabbing Iustia's hand with one hand and hooking Kiplin's hat on his horn with the other. In turn, Dante's fedora falls off his head, but is caught by Meb.

"I2 everyone ok-Oh god dragon2 coming around again."

"don't worry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" shouts Kiplin. She pulls, hard, dragging them all out of the way just as the dragon's teeth snap where Meb once only a moment ago. Judging from those insanely sharp teeth, it looks like she would have been snapped in half.

The group quickly rights themselves, hastily trading back hats and getting out their weapons; Kiplin deploying a pair of red wind-and-fire wheels, eight spikes to a wheel. Meb grips a pair of throwing knives. Dante points his Colt Python at the dragon. Iustia wields a pair of black M1911 semi-automatic pistols, each with a spade emblazoned on the side.

The dragon turns back around and lands on the end of the bridge, gripping the sides of it as it peers at the group through glowing red eyes. The group backs away from it, forming into a diamond shape; Kiplin in front, Iustia and Meb in the middle, and Dante in back.

Behind them is the massive metal building, an entrance on the same level not too far away.

    What will they do?

*Yes, Dante's text color has changed. Yes, it was planned. Yes, there's an in-character reason for it that will be explained. Yes, it is less eye-rapey. You're welcome.

    Kiplin: Tank the boss.
    Meb: DPS.
Dante: Coordinate; help Meb with DPS as much as you can.
Iustia: Don't stand in the fire.

Iustia isn't that bad at fighting, you know. She's just a little bit of a... Yeah.
    All of those, plus this:

It's funny because Dante is the one with a revolver (does not fire as fast as a semi-automatic) who's been actively noted as losing every battle he's in without help from someone else, whereas DR /did/ beat RD when she raged out and our only previous experience with watching her fight was when she was smaller and FA was tormenting her (and FA sure can torment when she's not in her right mind) and has been stated by canon to be one of the best shots along with RG and FE.

Just pointin' it out. Of course, we haven't actually seen her when she's competent and focused.

Wait, weren't they both using revolvers in the doomed!timeline where they had a possibly-jade blood grub?

Iustia could have changed weapons between this equivalent point and that point in the doomed timeline. That, and more importantly, at that time I didn't have DR's exact weapon pinned down. As always, this is the problem with doing a story publicly that you didn't plan out at all originally, though it's been pretty stable for a long time now (outside of the audience affected stuff, which there's more of than one might think.) Mind I also haven't double checked to see if I actually gave them both revolvers.

That said both of their weapons are Colt manufactured in real life.

    So that's kind of amusing.

SBURB CITY: Make PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT ==>

    MEMO

    >Diem: It's a game abstraction run off of an artificial intelligence. You should be able to defeat it with a simple logical paradox. Unless it turns out it's not a game abstraction. Then you die.

"Hey, dragon!" shouts Dante, still pointing his Python and, not to put too fine a point on it, backing up. "Answer this question! If-"

The dragon lunges forward and swipes a claw at Dante, barely giving him enough time to back up again.

"Boss, maybe rrless talking right now!"

"It might ju2t be a con2truct! It might work if I catch them in a logical paradox! Or infinite loop! Or get them to glitch into a wall and get 2tuck there!"

"I think it might be breathing!"

    "...2hit!"

    >Kip: Smash

Kip makes a war woop at the dragon, charging forward with her spiked wheels raised. As she closes in the dragon swipes at her with a claw; she blocks it with both wheels, managing to keep upright and standing even as the dragon pushes back.

Kiplin hears a 'woosh' as the second claw comes around behind her, trying to catch her in the back while she's distracted by the first. She quickly removes her wheels from the first claw and youth rolls towards the dragon, popping up to uppercut in the snout. It barely grazes the nose before the dragon pulls its head back.

    SBURB CITYTIPS

    > Meb: Stab it's face.

    She...Has a better idea.

Instead, she uses her ROGUE OF LIGHT powers to steal the dragon's luck, applying it to all of her teammates. The effects of this are not, of course, immediately obvious, but she follows it up by tossing a knife right at the dragon's left eye.

With almost supernaturally 'lucky' aim the knife hits its mark. The dragon roars in pain, tilting its head back and shielding its eyes with one claw, allowing Kiplin to wail on the other arm unimpeded for a bit.

By the time the dragon rights itself, Meb has already left her position, running back towards the door.

    SBURB CITYTIPS

    >Iustia: Try and spot a weak point. Dragons have those around their bellies, don't they? Either way, when you find a weak spot, shoot at it.

As Meb runs back, Iustia moves forward, past her. The dragon sees Iustia approaching and reaches past Kiplin, swiping at Iustia. Iustia points her twin M1911's at the dragon, sliding along the ground under the claw as it passes her. As soon as it comes within sight, she loads the full clips of both of her pistols into the dragon's soft belly, the bullets whizzing past Kiplin's head. While she fails to hit anything fatal, the dragon does rear back in pain.

Kiplin turns back, seeing Meb open the sliding door on the building and running inside. Kiplin races back towards the building, grabbing Iustia on the way and carrying her with her. She runs past Dante, as he stands his ground, carefully pointing his revolver at the dragon's head...

    SBURB CITYTIPS

    DM: Seduce dragon.

    ...Maybe later.

    I mean uh

As they all run past him, Dante stays behind, aiming at the dragon. The dragon focuses its hot gaze on him, the temperature around Dante slowly rising as the light becomes brighter and brighter...Dante is immediately glad he's wearing shades.

He continues aiming, even as the gaze gets hotter and hotter...He waits for just the right moment as it starts to get unbearable...And fires.

The bullet hits the eye dead on. The dragon roars in pain again, much louder, reeling back and blinded.

Dante turns and runs for the building, the door still open. He rushes inside. The door slides shut behind you. A green light above it turns red. Bars slide across it.

Dante and his friends are now inside a dark room. The only object visible aside from the exit is a massive computer console. The screen has readouts of...Something. Aside from that are two stairs on either side, leading down into the darkness.

Meb turns around and gives him a thumbs up from the computer, having apparently used it to lock the door a minute ago. Iustia's deployed and attached the holsters for her weapons. Kiplin...Just kind of lounges against the wall.

"All right," says Dante, taking his jacket and tie off for the second time today, putting his own holster back on as he talks. He was hoping to not have to do that yet, but with a high level, airborne enemy hanging around throughout the dungeon...Well, hopefully there won't be much platforming. "Let's take a moment to rest and recoup, everyone. But not too long, We may have accidentally de2troyed one entrance into the dungeon, but there'2 probably plenty of others. The other kids will be on the move by now and we can't dally. Iustia, Kiplin, watch the 2tair2 plea2e."

Iustia nods, Kiplin smiles. They both take up positions at the top of the stairs, looking down into the darkness as best they can. Meb continues standing next to the console. If Dante wants to talk to any of them, now would be a good time.

Dante's glasses beep; apparently someone is still trying to get his attention on the memo.

    What will he do?

Re: AdultStuck Topic III: Dungeon Of Heat And Clockwork

    Dante: Check your inventory ==>

As long as you're sitting around here, you might as well. Not your normal inventory, though, where you keep all the wrenches and robot parts and sewing needles and clothes you haven't finished making for your friends and bandages for when Neko or Hippoc falls down and scrapes their knees and you have to fix up their boo-boos...

...Er anyway. Not that one. The other one.

    The...roleplaying one.

You take your DECK OF CARDS out of your inventory. Said "DECK OF CARDS" happens to, of course, also be your SARCOPHABOX: A massive, upright standing sarcophagus (derived from Egyptian-Earthling design, of course), albeit with hinges for easy opening.

"Why would you want a sarcophagus?" your ol' carapace Papa would say, as he blew smoke in your face derisively and whacked you with a newspaper. "Why not a Brawlsoleum. That was good enough for me. It's been good enough for generations of Draconian Dignitary clones."

"NUH-UH," you'd always insist, even as the paper hit your adorable little noggin. "I WANNA 2ARC0PHAGU2."

"Why would you want that? That's stupid," he'd answer. "And who taught you that word?"

    "2ARC0PHAGI AR3 B3TT3R," you'd continue. "TH3Y JU2T AR3."

"Christ, kid. I appreciate death and all, but come on."

    "D3ATH 12 C00L," you'd respond.

"What kind of accent is that?"

    "DUNN0," you'd shrug.

    "It's incomprehensible, stop it."

    "'KAY. CAN 1 HAV3 A 2ARC0PHAGU2."

    "You didn't stop, so no."

    "AWWWW."

...Wow, that flashback really got away from you. Uh, anyway, point is later on you made your own damn sarcophagus. With Iustia's unintentional help, you even made it larger on the inside than on the outside.

You open the lid, taking a look at it. It is, of course, divided into two halves. One side - the "Larger on the inside than the outside" part, - is covered by a black velvet curtain. For good reason. The last thing you want is some random sucker wandering into your ARMORY and stealing something or, heaven forbid, accidentally blowing his own head off. It's where you keep a large portion of the weapons you and your gang have purchased, obtained in FLARP, or just outright bought over time. Mostly your own, of course, but some old ones belonging to the others as well. You know, in case you need it. You also keep a number of back up ties and hats and suits in there, and some...Old embarrassments. You and your father/kidnapper had a few disagreements about what sort of long range weapon you should be wielding.

As for the backside of the lid itself...Well.

That's where you keep your vanity mirror! And your hairbrush. And cologne. And the hair dye that keeps you looking, ah, "lime-y". And some...Other cosmetic items drawers. Not that they're yours. You're just holding them for...A friend. Yes, that will hold water. You are holding them for a friend.

'Course some of this stuff is probably expired now. Meh. You take out your hair brush, deciding you might as well get your long-ass hair in order while you check the memo. Yep. You begin to brush your hair. You find that calming, not that you would admit that to anyone ever.

You're going to make it quick, you swear. It doesn't exactly look good to be brushing your hair while people stand guard.

...As you look yourself in the mirror, you see two photographs you had forgotten you taped to the mirror.

One of them is, of course, of Puppy. It's not the most flattering photo. You took it while Puppy was in the middle of knitting and the expression on her face heavily implies she was considering shoving the needles in your eyelids and riding your skinny corpse down a waterfall at the time. But it's a photo.

...The other is a candid photo of a young Kitty playing with a small toy mouse. It takes you a moment to remember, but...Oh god. That's right. This was the first entry on your, eugh, hitlist. What were you even thinking! You can't believe you were slightly complicit in injuring her. You should have just...Let it go a long time ago, after Puppy defeated her. You feel terrible about it. You want to apologize, but you also are afraid of being - perfectly understandably - murdered. Or having your leg blown off. Or worse. One thing at a time...You're going to have to placate Puppy's sister first, one way or another. Deep breaths, Dante. Deep breaths.

You wonder what she's doing right now, anyway? It's probably way more interesting than this.

    > Meb: Fiddle with console for shits and giggles.

While the boss is fussin' with his locks and generally being prissy - you figure if maybe he was so concerned about his appearance, he could have tried taking a bath and actually eating before today - you take a look at the console. Or, rather, the computer screen.

It seems to be displaying...Some sort of information about the layout of this building. Sort of.

More accurately, it's showing you this room. There appears to be a elevator of some sort under this console at the bottom of the stairs, but judging from the flashing warning sign neither it nor the rest of the building has any power. There seems to be another door at the bottom of the stairs, though. You're probably going to have to return power to this building if you want to use the elevator, let alone using this console for something other than opening and closing that reinforced superdoor.

    >DM: Look at the memo, see if there's any more news from DD's team, so you know how desperately you should try and get through this dungeon. ... That and so you know your other friends are safe and sound, of course.

Eugh, sorry for the lack of updates guys. The update's nearly finished, but I had to take a break for the evening. Pasting in color codes is not an enjoyable way to spend an evening. XD

I realize that there's a few small side projects that haven't been finished (like fixing the prologue). They are still planned and I am still trying to get around to them, but the experiences of the past few weeks obviously delayed them.

I realize that there's a few small side projects that haven't been finished (like fixing the prologue). They are still planned and I am still trying to get around to them, but the experiences of the past few weeks obviously delayed them.
If you can give me a list of the chumhandle initials and names and their respective color codes, I could make a script that does that for you.
And no, that's no trouble, it's easy as hell to do with PHP thanks to arrays and the foreach() command.

When the script is made all you would have to do is to get ZZEE PHP GUI, then you can just paste the dialogue into a .txt file and run the script to make it add the tags.

Sure, let's try that. I'll get the currently collected color codes to you soon-ish; It's getting rather harder to update with color codes thanks to real life busyness.

'Course that doesn't fix the problem of color coding normal dialogue, but it does eliminate half the work.

    Here.
Names and hex codes go in the "Rules go here.txt" file, just add them as a new line using the same syntax as I did with Vriska.
