If you're good with the shotty and market gardener I'd say it's actually a viable, non-ridiculous loadout option now.

Your DPS goes to shit and your playstyle completely changes, but it's not just a joke where if someone coughs on you you're dead.

Just search Jump Maps in general. I'd recommend some but my jumps are UNBELIEVABLY SHITTY so I don't really play them. I know Pagoda is a popular one.

And yeah I've got a friend who plays comp and will switch to Mantreads/Gardener solly when he's pubbing, it's pretty ridiculous

If you're looking to practice rocket jumping in general, i'd recommend downloading some jump maps to fiddle around with in single player. Jump_quba and jump_beef are good starting maps. Wouldn't hurt to look up some terminology and techniques beforehand so you don't get stuck on a single jump without knowing what to do. You can also find jump servers in the server browser, just look for servers running maps prefixed with 'jump'.

I don't know, I just got my medi gun to truly feared and I am proud of it, but if I was going with the mantread's scale, it would be sever-clearing. Or maybe, since it already counts them, if it ranked up by kill assists, it would be Wicked Nasty.

Oh wait there is a strange medi gun that ranks up through kill assists? But nooo, it came in a really rare crate that no longer drops, so it is now worth at least 16 keys!

To be fair, the crossbow is my favorite medic primary, because I can actually hit people with it for good damage, and because of the set bonus. But still, savaged crates and most of higher value trading pisses me the fuck off.

Mantreads take an insanely long time to level up. I've managed about 50 kills with my strange ones in the time its taken to get 200+ kills with my strange Market Gardener.

If I had stranges, it'd be the opposite for me.

No, wait, I get stubborn and kill people with the MG even when it's not rocketjumping.

So yeah I'd probably get a lot more MG kills than Mantreads.

Yeah, I'm up to 88 Mantreads kills vs. 351 Market Gardener kills. Honestly, unless you're ONLY going for kills while jumping, it's rather easy to level the MG.
