The map as a whole is a lot less "chokepointy". Almost every passage has been widened a bit, and several have been made taller.

I could try to talk more and more about it, but I think I'll just let you all experience it yourself; at our first map test event.

Yes. That is the main thing I was messing with last night. After several blood sacrifices, I finally got it working.

Thumbs up on turbine pro! I'm a big fan of turbine even as it is, but I like the stalemate-breaking aspects of the curved hallway. In the stock map, a talented team (or just 3 engineers who know what they're doing) can make it very hard to get to the int room, even with an ubercharged rush (because of knockback). Pro seems to fix that fairly well, so you get less of one side tying up the entire map except for the last hallway before the intel, and the other side permanently denying any chance of scoring.

There is something VERY BAD that happens on Scratch when the map changes. At first I thought it was just my machine that suddenly lost half the bound mouse and keyboard binds (or at least ACTED like the binds were gone, even though they still were there), but I heard a lot of other people say exactly the same thing after one of the map swaps. The steam connection seems to randomly drop too, lot of people complaining about being stuck in a default loadout while others were using their backpacks just fine. I didn't have this one happen to me, but I heard complaints about steam being down a half-dozen times when it wasn't down.

Also - can we have a vote gag command (Skial runs a really nice player-vote mod for the common annoyances)? Just like the old days, chat has mostly ONE person who whinges constantly, and it gets really old having to mute them. I finally left in disgust after the 47th complaint about a horrible, horrible crit that ruined that person's day, and while it's been a while, I think it's one of the reasons I stopped going to sepulch too.

    I just keep chat off.
Mainly because I listen to music while playing.
Makes it a lot more fun.

Votegags would be nice, but I don't think the community is self-loathing or malicious enough to go through with it unless it's a grave offense.
But yeah, I think people should just say their complaints to the votecrits system and deal with it.

E: Also Kaito, do you have one of those signature sized server statistic tags? We should stick one of those in the OP. If you don't know where to find it, I probably can if you shoot panel access to AVeryDrunkPanda@gmail.com.

I don't mind general chatter (we are all MSPA fans, kind of the point), and I use sound as warnings that bad stuff is happening out of sight - it's a good way to avoid walking into a crossfire!

The problem is, if you mute someone, you still have to deal with everyone ELSE yelling at that person, to the point where there's no point to it. That's why I like what Skial does on their servers - anyone can call a vote to gag and mute someone, and if the majority votes yes, that person can still play, but they can't annoy you. It is total troll remover, and a nice gentle hint when someone is being annoying on the mic but otherwise fine.

Self loathing has nothing to do with it - some people think that the fire button and the mic button should be the same key, and others think every stomach gurgle has to be broadcast.

Here is the revision I made for the MOTD, I guess the blank space on the second page will probably have event information or something.

    Nice!

I like the smaller maximum player count. A lot of the servers I use have gotten into the bad habit of running 32 people during peak hours, and some maps are completely unplayable with 32 people crammed in them. Running light can be a problem on some maps too, but it's much less often a problem than too many. I will try to go to Scratch first if I'm itching for a game and there's people on.

Well, I love maps with 32 players.
All the delicious massive chaos around.
Of course, those maps obviously need plenty of traffic and people around.

32 player servers are terrible and I do not understand how people play them. It's just spam hell and you can't do anything really rewarding because the game is either PUSH BUTTON KILL WITH CROCKET or PUSH BUTTON BE KILLED BY CROCKET.

The game is made for 18-24 players. I like 18 because I play Scout who gets progressively better as the player count gets smaller and Pyro who really benefits from not having every corner filled by a fat ass Russian.

The item problems have nothing to do with our server; for some reason, Steam's item servers are so screwy, they don't even malfunction correctly, and sometimes restrict some while leaving others alone.

As for the complaining, I am pretty sure I know who you are talking about. I will have a talk with him.

I just added it to the OP. Although it lacks any useful information at the moment, since I just added Scratch to their database.

Very nice. I'll see if I can't get it thrown up on the MOTD page.

Re: [TF2] Thread 10! Server Rebooted - The Scratch

Map test nite was fun, the games on turbine_pro and stock turbine had very noticeable differences in flow. I was able to lock down turbine with just one Engie setup, while turbine_pro had me struggling even with one other Engineer. The turbine game went a lot more slowly too.

Right now i'm going to suggest we add turbine_pro and move stock turbine to nominate-only. That way people who still want to play stock once in a while can have the opportunity to, while those of us who prefer turbine_pro can access it more regularly.

That's fine, at least now I can check if there's people in server without having to start up TF2.

If you were on server, you'd have noticed that I wasn't whining at all the last couple of games because heeeeeeeeeeeeey

    random crits weren't on

Also you're hardly one to talk ಠ_ಠ

"I wasn't whining because everyone finally gave into my whining" isn't the best defence I've ever heard

Yes, Portalboat is very... Vocal. But "whining about whining" isn't going to help, either. You know what I have (almost) never seen? Someone politely (keyword here) ask him to stop.(Yes, I do realize that people DO do this on occasion, and I applaud those who do) Rather than try to talk to him, most people seem to resort to posting about it here, or simply venting out all at once in the server, which never ends well. The point is, no matter how aggravating, rude, or otherwise annoying someone may get, it is up to everyone else to act like an adult. This is what is required in order to keep the community intact, and the experience fun.

Oh, and about "people giving into whining"; crits were voted off when Portal was long gone. It was over an hour later when he came back on, and they still happened to be off.

I prefer the Sandman myself. It's a really good escape tool and other than RANDOM PIPES TO THE FACE the -15 health doesn't really do much.
