The lightest armour you can find is pretty much a padded coat, similar to what the Captain and a few others are wearing, but obviously not quite as grand as his one is. You'll grab it when you've had a look at the rest of the clothes.
You look over the weapons, and the closest you can find to a one-handed scythe is a sickle. A scythe really isn't a very good weapon anyway, but this sickle works for slashing at least, since it's less of a half-circle blade and more of a rounded, more oval-curved blade, which is much more practical in battle than the crop-harvesting version. You've always got your cutlass to fall back on if this doesn't work out.
Trying out a few things before setting on a weapon to stick with seems like a good idea to you, and you think you'll try out a spear next if the sickle works out. It at least means you won't be stuck with something stupid like a stick or shield or something as a primary weapon.
What will you do now?

^Seconding this.

YOu look around, and hidden in a crate in the corner of the room is a pile of flintlock pistols and ammunition for thme, plus some black powder for reloading them. You fish one out, and test your grip on it.
What? That's stupid, it's like the size of a dirk or something, you can't hide something like this, besides, the weight would put your aim off and
"A gun? Yeah, real intimidating, you're going to be the terror of the high seas with one of those."
Oh, right, Jack. You had almost forgotten that he was there, making sure you didn't try anything.
"I'm just looking at them, jackass. What's so bad about these things, anyway?"
"You want me to write you a list? Takes long as hell to reload, inaccurate as hell so you can't hit shit, pitiful damage with that dinky little bullet, no stopping power... You're better off throwing the damn things at them or using the black powder to blow something up. If you want something with range, get a bow. You want something as a backup, just stick more weapons on your keyring.
Noted. You briefly consider loading up and shooting him in an act of irony. You decide against it due to that being a godawful idea in every sense of the word.
What will you do?

guns sucks
get some grog on your cutlass that should show em
>Acquire Some wood, and nails.

As far as I can tell the reason a gun is so good is because of the sheer amount of force it puts into the injury it creates. Force is something like mass times velocity, so a bullet traveling really fast due to being shot out of a gun should still be capable of doing at least as much damage in this numbery system as a decent blow with a sword. However, you don't even have to worry about nerfing guns the way you've described when (A) gun tech is not up to par with modern technology and (B) a number of possible magic spells, such as magnetic electricity magic, time stopping magic, etc., can prevent one from getting hit by a bullet in the first place.

Got Portal 2? Come check out my maps, please!
Active Adventures (awaiting suggestions):
PersonS-like Persona, but not | An Aranor Adventure-high fantasy and adventure | Odd One Out-3 best friends, a kidnapped girl, an evil king, and elves | Beasts-a tale of survival | The Longest Flashback-fantasy noir, or something like that | GUIH-raising a dragon is harder than it sounds. | MageBound-Fantasy+"Stuck" | Creation-wherein the readers are the mind of a universe's omnipotent god | The College of Magic-pretty much what it says on the tin
You have absolutely no idea how to make that. At all. You're pretty sure that you can't poison bullets either.
The only thing that needs grog right now is you. All the alcohol's going to do is make that cutlass rust and smell worse.
Your fanciest thinking results in a random pile of shit that manages to fall apart after it's already fallen apart. The only moving parts of it are the ones that aren't attached to the rest of your body. You can't believe you thought this was worth investing time into. You need rum. Lots of rum.
What will you do now?

"If you're done, head upstairs and try not to do anything stupid, ok?"
Well, this relationship is getting off to a great start. You grab one of the older coats and throw it on, before grabbing an Inventory Ring, which you're mostly sure you know how to use, and take a belt, put it on, and secure your cutlass to it, in case you don't know how to get your other stuff off the keyring, and most of the pirates keep theirs on their belts for quick access anyway. The coat is old, brown, and short, rather than the longer and more impressive ones that the Captain and a couple of others are wearing, but at least you look a bit more piratey and less likely to be stabbed.
You ask Jack if there's one lying around to practice murdering on. He tells you that they don't have any readily available, due to the much higher density of living dummies to practice on. Well, there goes your stress relief for today.
You head upstairs and start climbing the crows nest, despite this being a terrible idea. When you get up there, you prepare to execute your terrible idea, and
"Who the fuck are you, and what the hell are you doing up 'ere?"
"This was a terrible idea."
"Weren't you our hostage five minutes ago?"
"Not anymore, apparently. Try to relay that if anyone asks."
"You didn't answer my question. What the hell are you doing up 'ere in my post?"
"That is a very good question, and would best be answered in the form of"
"Nice try, smartarse. Now stay out of my way, get your arse down, or make yourself useful."
With that, she turns around and starts ignoring you. This was such a terrible idea.
What will you do now?

You are now the other guy, walking down the road. You have plenty of time to reflect on the last day of your life, and just what's happened. You're pretty sure most people don't have this much shit happen to them in their whole lives. Well, some people in this wacky universe. Lucky bastards.
Either way, you're still walking, and you'll keep walking until you see the capitol ahead of you. While it's really only been a few hours, it feels like it's taken a hell of a lot longer to do anything. Probably the time travel. And upon reflection, you can conclude that you really, really hate time travel. And that's all there really is to say on the matter.
