You awaken on the ship, able to breathe properly this time. God that was weird. And like your last dream, its memory doesn't seem to be fading at all. Either way, you need to focus on the world you're currently in, and you head upstairs, the rest of the crew still there, luckily, to go do something relevant for once.

To say it one more time,vyoure really getting tired of this crap happening to you. You bet there's some guy out there who got in the same situation as you, and just rolled by without anything like this happening to him, and didn't have to go through all this shit. Fuck that guy.

You are now Gene. You've just woken up, and are ready to go head downstairs, having gotten all of your clothes and gear in order. Today, your room is kind of crap, just a plain bed and a small room with nothing else and no windows. Either way, it's somewhere to sleep, so you're not complaining.

If the universe has a plot, you're not aware of it. Besides, a universal plots brings with it deep questions over free will and all those things that you don't want to get into a mental debate over.

You head downstairs and ask about mines. Turns out there aren't any on this side of the province. If you want any, you have to head towards Signa, and they have most of the mines anyway. So much for that plan.

You had already decided to do that, you just need to find a quest. You head over to the bulletin and take a look at the board.

Let's see, a lot of them have been taken, and the jobs are sorted by a weird tiering system based on level and reputation, presumably to stop some idiot taking an important job. The ones that are immediately brought to your attention are a couple of couriering jobs involving running back and forth across the city for two guys and their business dealings, a job acting as a bodyguard for some important guy's son, and an appeal for a whole bunch of people, meaning more than one person can sign up, for a job transporting something.

There are more, but those are the ones that you first notice. Will you pick one, or look for more?

You decide to go with the bodyguard job. Doesn't look too hard, and that caravan job, with the number of slots open for it, it looks like it'd end up being attacked, and you would like to avoid cart-related attacks for at least one more day. Besides, you've got Defender in your class name, so you assume that's going to give you at least a little bit of a boost in this.

You head over to the bartender and tell him that you're taking the job. He tells you that he has to get some details from you and then send your employer the details, and hands you a bit of paper to write your details down on, such as name, date of birth, level, that kind of thing. You ask if you have to do this for everything, since you didn't have to do this last time, and he tells you that most jobs don't need it, but some employers prefer it, particularly those working in government jobs.

You prepare to write down your details, when it occurs to you that you have no idea how the calender in this world works, and decide to wing it. You put down your name, your date of birth as a couple of days ago, and your age as 17-19, since that's your rough guess, and you also add Arrival to the thing, and hope that counts for something. You're banking on nobody actually reading this thing, which you're sure has always been an effective strategy when dealing with government officials and the like.

You hand it back to the bartender, and he tells you that it'll be a couple of minutes until he gives you the rest of the details on your job, since he has the rest of the bar to deal with, and you step back. Until then, you can find something to do, or stare at a wall for a while. It is a this point that it occurs to you that this was probably a terrible idea. But then again, so were the rest of your ideas so far, so it's par for the course.

The bartender then heads off to deal with his actual paying customers. Well, crisis averted. Except for the fact that you now know that people actually read those forms. Shit.

As appealing as that is, it's time for breakfast, not dinner. Having dinner for breakfast would be silly. And you know that you'd never do anything silly.

You find the nearest relatively attractive female human being alone at a table, and walk over to her.

"Mind if I sit down for a minute?"

"It's a bit early for pickup lines, you know."

"Whatever. You've got five minutes, and I've got a rather large hammer if you try anything."

What followed was a somewhat frigid chat that warmed up into a pleasant conversation, her talking about her daily life and common problems, and you talking about time traveling shenanigans and how getting into a bar fight with a pyromaniac is never a good idea. Five or so minutes later, your conversation ends, and you both head your separate ways, you heading over to the bartender to get the details on your job.

The details you get are fairly simple, just directions to the guy's house. Turns out he's the Baron of this city, so screwing this one up is probably not the best idea.

With the directions secure, what will you do?
