I think we are going somewhere here. But that doesn't explain Dirk's unique situation. He's basically both at the same time, just only half conscious of the other half from where he is focusing. Could this be simply something unique that he's taught himself, or is this a power of Heart? Maybe the Hearty Thing will eventually allow him to be in complete mental control of both of his selves (could he use robots to do the same thing? Simply process a robot like Aradia with a soul, either his own or dream). That would be sweet

I meant that at that point the two are essentially one. The wake self is an empty shell and has been usurped by the dream self with all of its memories. The Dream self is like a second person, kind of like how when someone goes through a teleporter, they die and a copy is made. Except the original is still alive.

Firstly, I should state that I've always been under the impression that it was in that frog scene that Jade woke up. Secondly, it should be noted that Hass was alive some time after Jade went on that sleepwalk, as he built the dreambot for her.
Thirdly, rule of three, motherfuckers. (I don't really care about alive selves and dreamselves and whatever very much. Bifurcated!Roxy would be pretty sweet, and that's all I'll say on the matter.)

Kanaya, i think she woke up early due to DS, but i am unsure about that.
Edit: Ok, so Kan did wake up early. It doesn't seem to have effected her as much? I guess since we never saw her dreamself, we can't really say.

For dirk, he is all about the control. Not about to let some other self be in tots control. But, it does seem like that while he can cotnrol two at one time, one self will have less concentration.

Dreamselves can fly because the human/troll mind occasionally dreams about flying. Note also that Jade was able to grow extra arms, and that each child's room is very similar to the room they sleep in. The dreamself's reality-altering properties are hardly undocumented.

For dirk, he is all about the control. Not about to let some other self be in tots control. But, it does seem like that while he can cotnrol two at one time, one self will have less concentration.

Don't forget the AR and Dreamself parallels. Dirk might actually be creating an army of himself, of himself, his dream self, his kid self in shade form, and Dirkbot(s). Dirk is all about control, and he doing that by creating selves to have a hand everywhere. Even Lil' Seb seems to count here.

Think of it like a puppet-master, which Dirk happens to be. He has control over everything and everyone. Including his own being, in a surreal way. He controls his dreamself like a puppeteer controls...a puppet. He can only function half consciously while doing it, however, but no doubt, his skill will improve, and he may be able to work simultaneously with his dream-self, without sacrificing full concentration. Imagine if he is able to expand his talent to allow himself control over other selves, such as more Dirkbots, if he can somehow mentally control them. He could be able to exploit that so that he could become a single-conscious army of Dirks.

Wrong. Many things can create offshoot timelines, like bad decisions. Dave's decision to go back in time to stop Droog also did this. So did John's decision to take on the denizen.

The coin flip was Terezi's method of consolidating the full set of outcomes to an absolute binary state, and make it simpler to strategize around.

Just because there's a slight "many worlds" twist to the time mechanics being added doesn't mean every extrapolation from that theoretical framework applies here.

It doesn't necessarily mean every decision that can be made will be made, as that theory usually holds.

It is a work of fiction that amalgamizes a variety of temporal mechanics. This is another dimension to it, in keeping with some of the decision-outcome volatility already present.

Just because Terezi isolated a clear cut binary choice for Dave which resulted in an offshoot doesn't mean there are also dimensions in which Dave bleated like a goat ironically while doing a pirouette into the lava, simply because it was possible.

Other decisions have much more plausibility when it comes to varying outcomes though. Like decisions which are meant to be random by design. Like picking the side of a coin.

And when all is said and done, we only become aware of the doomed timelines which are meant to have significance to the alpha. Like John's denizen mishap, Dave's Droog mishap, and now this. All three were critical to events in the alpha proceeding the way they should. The ones that aren't may exist, but we never see them. They stay quarantined from the alpha, in a way.
