I think it was one of the formspring answers. Act six will be shorter than Act Five (But only just) and Act Seven will be an epilouge of sorts.

Here's one:

There really are only 7 acts (fact). Act 6 acts as a setup for act 7, which is essentially the story's endgame. Chess has three stages, more or less. Starting the the war, playing until drastic changes throw off the balance between sides, and then the endgame stage, where the conclusion gradually becomes more clear.
I THINK that's how it goes.
Problem Sleuth had an epilogue once the game ended, and I think Homestuck will too. Its the only way I can imagine there being decent closure for this comic, and it wouldn't really be going back on AH's word to tag one after A7.

Why assume A6A3 is the end?

Let's go with the assumption that while he has six green curtains for A6 total, that each set is used twice, once to open, once to close.

Then you get six Act 6's, which makes much more sense since that would make A6 a mirror to all the rest of Homestuck. A6A1 (learn the rules of the universe), A6A2 (let the weird shit really start up), A6A3 (get everyone used to the Medium), A6A4 (the villain emerges triumphant), A6A5A1 (how we all got here), A6A5A2 (the resolution). And finally Act 7, which Hussie stated was the epilogue and thus presumably will be.
