Today I met the man who painted a bounty of citrus on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, Michelaorangelo.

A Survival STuCK server would be awesome, and would totally get me to play multiplayer again. While RP interests me, I only really like actually doing RP in games if it's good and if people don't break the immersion, and I don't think Minecraft lends itself too well to it.

Right now I'm looking at some server-side architecture that would allow for a system that is Survival by default and individually Creative by request. The only issue I'm seeing so far is that it might only work for the 1.2 Minecraft client but that may be fixed soon-ish with the 1.2.5/Bukkit dev team hiring.
Anyone else? :V
Bukkit is neat and all, for awhile I used it for a server. But then I got highly irritated with how long it took for them to update when a new patch came out, and I either had to choose not getting the update or not being able to play multiplayer...
There are a lot of cool SMP mods out there as well, but the downside to all of them is waiting after an update occurs. With Vanilla, you get all the updates right away, which is quite nice, but it is -just- Vanilla.
Also, if I remember right, the /gamemode command is there in vanilla, you don't need bukkit for it.

I think, if you guys did open up a multiplayer Minecraft server, it would be the thing that finally gets me to play Minecraft.

If my computer was still working and I wasn't using my mom's I'd get on my account and play.
Let's have fun with this, don't let me down now.

Anyways, yeah, the plan is definitely a Bukkit server over a Vanilla one. With the majority of the Bukkit development team being recently hired by Mojang (or at least they visited Mojang), there's been talk of Mojang working more closely with mod developers and promising less frequent patches as well as more dedication into putting snapshots out far earlier. Actually, the current news being circulating around is that Bukkit 1.2.5 and Minecraft Client/Server 1.2.5 will be released simultaneously within the next few days along with a couple popular Bukkit plugins releasing at that time too. If I thought using Bukkit would be a major hassle, I'd go for Vanilla hands-down.
For this server to be feasible -Bukkit or not-, we'd be looking for at least 4-7 people willing to play on it in addition to the four of us. Anyyyyyyyyy takers besides Highway and possibly Goggle?
Pros of Joining:
- Cool server
- Cool people
Cons of Joining:
- High risk of pregnancy
- Todd might make secret underground tunnels to spy on you
I'd probably join.
I'd like to really apologize in advance for the sporadic and slow-moving updates. I could make up a long-winded answer as to why that is, but in truth it’s because there's a super-big-and-long-and-ribbed-for-her-pleasure flash update coming up within the next month or two that I'm pushing into production. I've been trying to slow down the updates and story to a point that it'll give me more time to complete it without having too long of an update gap.
SO YEAH :V
On a related note: the response for the STuCK server has been overwhelming positive and I'm looking at getting things rolling on that pretty soon. Expect a formal announcement within the week :D

Which might actually be a really good seed name...
hmm.
Edit: well that was disappointing. It plonked me down in the middle of a big snowy pine forest. screw that, pines are too much of a hassle to chop down.
