Sitting down to eat I say to the others, " I need to prepare spells and see if I can find some bullets before we leave." After eating a quick breakfast, I will find a quiet room where i can prepare spells for the day. I will prepare my Fireball spell, using my Burning Tome, and my Magic Bullet-Earth spell. After that I will go to a shop in town and look for ammunition to purchase before we leave.
Mabel is about now, having apparently kept watch all night. Marc slept. William provides food for everyone and reveals that this morning he already acquired enough rations to make it the rest of the way to Cerkno easily. He says it will be a day's journey. There are shops that can provide the basics and anyone who needs to ought to prepare spells. No telling where there may be minions of the Eldest waiting. William will try to see if anyone knows anything about how travel is going around here. Maybe find out about any potential hazards.

No, not really. Not this town any way. It's small and secluded, far from Renardi land. The country is hilly and sparsely forested. It's southeast of the Énigme mountains. The weather is temperate, but drier in the south near the deserts of Amman and Manisa. You also know it's ruled by King Edmund as mentioned by William. Outside of Slovania he is known for being mostly level headed, but he is perhaps too proud.

Hey guys. This week I've started a regular schedule at a new job that actually pays okay. So I have guaranteed time and I'm feeling better about life in general. That means I have time and motivation. I should also be able to deal with the whole energy thing, although I'll be working late most nights. What I'm going to do is work on setting up a new story in the same setting. So that will get its own thread. That means we're not starting again yet, but I just wanted you to know that it will.
I'll be using simplified rules more akin to GURPS. Right now I'm looking at the GURPS Lite 4th Edition, which is a basic set of GURPS rules available for free. With this you really won't have to worry about it and I won't have to be constantly changing things. I might make some minor changes to how that works. What it will boil down to is a set of attributes and skills for a character affecting the outcome of events (dice rolls). There will be less of a focus on combat, but it will certainly happen. I might still use a grid system like we ended up with just so everyone knows where they are in those situations. I'll be test playing what I come up with as I go along. Hopefully what we end up playing will be something actually playable.
The lore page should be updated pretty much daily from here on out. I'll work on it a little today before work. What I'm hoping to do there is completely rewrite anything that doesn't make sense, add in the missing bits, and expand on what's already there. Once I feel ready start playing again, there should be a fully fleshed out world to play in. You will probably still come across villages and the like I make up on the spot, but I'm hoping to have a handful of at least somewhat fleshed out major cities in every country. I'll also try to create more definitive answers to questions like how religion works, race relations, and other minutiae.
As for plot, I'm going to write out a series of events as a basic story for the players to jump into and affect. That way it will feel like there's more direction to it. It probably won't be too much like what was happening before.
Magic was always a huge complication in this game. I'm going to completely revamp it so don't expect that to work at all like how it did before. My original vision had it being difficult, expensive, and powerful. What I ended up doing was attempt to keep it powerful and diverse, ground it in set rules, and still have it be fun. This kind of had me running in several directions at once with it making it more trouble than it was worth. This time I'll create a full list of pre-made spells. You will still be able to create your own, but it won't necessarily be the norm. What you might be able to do though is research "existing" spells, which I might just make up how you can do it as if it had always been a possibility. Expect to require specific ingredients and artifacts to prepare rituals for doing even basic magic. There might be magic devices still though, so some combat magic could still be possible in a limited way.

Wait for the new thread for now. We can still discuss things like recreating characters and creating new ones in PM though. I'd actually like to go into a bit more detail about the backgrounds of player characters this time around. Maybe give some options based on where they grew up.
