A place to discuss Yu-Gi-Oh in general. So bring a deck, and have fun.

OK, a few things though.

Basic rules for all threads apply, and PLEASE, I don't want to come back and have a clusterf*** of Abridged quotes. A few every now and again is fine, just don't make this into a quotefest.

Also, if you must duel someone here, put your DuelNetwork/or what ever thing you personally prefer, and try to keep it out of the thread.

Apart from that, go nuts.

Man I used to have Ra and Slifer but then they went missing.
Along with most of the rest of that pile of cards.
From my dresser right next to where I slept.

Ah, good times. My cards might still be around in my room back home. I remember there was a fire structure deck, which had possibly one of the most dickish combos I know of (Level Limit Area B and that little Imp thing)

But now it is all synchros and fusions and what is all of this I do not understand.

I remember dominating all the kids at school at this game. I mostly used 1 or 2-turn KO decks, usually getting a lot of 5 star monsters out in one turn or dealing a lot of direct damage. I also used exploitable loopholes which I'm sure are banned in competitive leagues, particularly abusing injection fairy lily and butterfly dagger elma.

I've grown out of yugioh since I realized the cards dictate the rules of the game moreso than the game itself.

And were they the playable versions from Shonen Jump, or the flashy and epic but un-playable versions? Regardless, I've had stuff like that happen before as well. It ALWAYS sucks

But what kind(s) of deck(s) do you play? Sorry, I'm always curious about that.

Speaking of Level Limit Area B, I use it in my main deck. Because Lava Golems are hilarious. NOBODY expects the Lava Inquisition.

EDIT: I play fairly competitively, so I have to use Synchros and all of this other crap that I personally don't really care for. Helps win me games though, so I can't complain too much.

Fielding those little fire imps under LLAB was amazing. If you could keep them alive for two turns they were basically unkillable.

I like being able to mix old school shenanigans and newer things together that nobody sees coming. I might actually want to try running Raging Flame Sprite in there, I dunno, though. There's a lot of nice direct damage cards out there now, like Wave-Motion Cannon. That things is ridiculous...

polymerization. Does anyone actually use that to get fusion monsters? I always used some kind of card destruction, put my blue eyes ultimate in the graveyard, then monster reborned it.

My last yugioh experience, at least 3? 4? years ago. Friend of mine who started playing recently calls me and wants to drag me to a little weekly tournament thing at some hobby shop. I haven't played in probably half a year at least (I had bad friends for playing any card game with, sadly), but I grab my screwing around with deck and go. I had to hitch a ride from a parent and I had no idea how long it was going to take so I was all antsy to get done and get out of the place. I accidentally had a banned card in my deck and the kid who noticed I had it had to yell it out really loudly (we agreed I'd just take it out and we'd keep going, he was nice about that at least). I managed to get I thiiiiink 3rd place though, which was really lucky. The guy running the shop started handing out these insane prizes and I got like 3 packs and some shiny promotional cards, which was really swell for freaking 3rd. But then everybody starts settling in to trade and talk and I realize I just want to get the hell out of there.

I'm pretty sure I haven't done more than just look at the illustrations on my cards since then. My deck was some crappy Elemental Hero setup with lots of those high damage 4 star monsters, because I wasn't willing to sink enough money into it for the fun cards(Edit: So, yes, Polymerizations were in there). Still I do have some fond memories, I can't deny that.

Also fark Lava Golem. That thing always got me in the video game adaptions.

Yes. Most other things that make a fusion monster are either banned form competitive play, or somehow don't use Polymerization, like Gladiator Beasts and Neo-Spacians. And I hate both archetypes.

Mostly though, Poly is used in Ojama decks. There are some support cards for dragon types though, like Dragon's Mirror, which lets you fuse form the Graveyard, and field, but not the hand.

And damn. That sounds like a really nice place. The most the guy at the store I go to (And the only one around) gives one booster pack of regular stuff and $5 store credit for first. Still, that's pretty cool. I personally like Elemental Heroes, and have a kinda screwy deck for them that I haven't used in... a couple years, lol.

It wasn't a very comprehensive collection of heroes that's for sure. I remember I splurged, pretty much for the only time, a fair chunk of change online because Flame Wingman Flame Wingman must emulate animes. Half the deck was a bunch of cards from my previous almost devoid of themes just high damage bros and equips deck.

It was a generous store, which made it soooo awkward trying to leave. I think they had a pretty good community thing going on which would have been fantastic back when I played more regularly. I am pretty sure I raised at least a couple eyebrows.

I did play a little bit when it first came out, never really had a real playable deck though. My friend played a lot though, he had an Exodia deck that actually worked a good amount of the time.

Been a while since I've played this, always sucked at it, terrible luck, and my friends who were playing had wayyy better luck then me, both in booster packs and "heart of the card"/draw luck.

I remember the old days when a 1800 attack 4 star monster was a rare thing (I think it's not anymore right? pretty much stopped at 2 or 3 packs after the labyrinth of darkness packs which was the one I bought more because I wanted a lord dragon, or something called like that, guess how many rare cards (the shiny ones) I got? 1 or 2 at most, while my friends got injection fairy lily on his first pack....).

And that reason is exactly why I play all my Yu-gi-oh games online.

notice that by this point in the series, Polymerization has been like, completely phased out.

GX introduced Contact fusion for Elemental Heroes

5Ds introduced Tuner monsters and Synchro Monsters.

Zexal introduced Xyz monsters.

So yeah regular fusion is pretty much outdated and it sucks. I mean, Regular Fusion can still be useful but Polymerization is stupid and everyone uses other methods to summon regular fusion monsters.

I was going to sell my old Pokemon cards at the local hobby shop from when the game had pretty much just started. I looked into it and some cards I had were kind of valuable (a big stack of misprinted cards, a few shiny rare cards like Charizard/Chansey), and then I discovered, somehow, those are my only cards that are damaged at all.

That being said, I've never played Yu-Gi-Oh or watched the show, so I'm not sure what I'm doing, here. Peace, y'all. I'm outie.

The best way to play Yugioh is obviously Duelist Kingdom style

Where levels didn't matter so you could just summon like 3 Blue Eyes White dragons just by putting them on the field and then make up rules as you go like destroying the moon so the fish can't swim.
