I never said anything about not liking the characters, I expressed disinterest in gay romance.

I am not a homosexual and I don't like gay stuff. There is NOTHING wrong with that, despite what you may have been led to believe by contemporary cultural influences.

It's no more "wrong" for me to dislike this stuff like this than it is wrong for you to dislike the fact that I dislike it. Don't throw this hypocritical "tolerance" stuff at me when you're being intolerant of my views at the same time.

It seemed to be going that way with the recent updates, and the full extent of Jake's dilema was starting to become clear to me. It was as if he was trapped in a cage with a very lonely silverback gorilla. The inevitability of being beaten unconscious daily and brutally raped for all eternity was starting to look like a very real concern, and seeing how he would try to escape from this mortifying situation would probably have been quite funny.

But no... A few lines down the chatlog later, and Jake's already reciprocating. The dream dies. Instead of "it's funny cause it's rape", we're just back to "it's funny cause it's gay and makes the reader feel awkward, har har".

There isn't even anything overtly gay about Dirk and Jake yet beyond Dirk and Jake being guys and expressing interest in each other. In fact I could swap either one out for a girl and there's almost nothing I'd have to change, just some subtle subtext about Dirk being gay and Jake's whole spiel about "BUT DOES GENDER REALLY MATTER???"

My complaint is how I apparently missed this romance entirely.

I mean I was always under the impression up until Act 5 that Jade annoyed Dave more than he cared for her at all.

It always reeked of a crack ship pair the spares but apparently I missed out on like, all of it. Yet some people call it practically canon?

Even when I try to take off my obviously biased glasses I don't really see it I guess? I got a one pixel smile which I never put too much impact on and that's about it.

That's the problem with subtle things. People misinterpret them as something they're not all the time.

Well I guess subtle was a wrong word to use. I like their interactions together, and since Karkat made his expert shipping grid maybe I started seeing their relationship with a more romantic angle. Now this is the last time I will ever talk about shipping.

Also Jane is getting more interesting, though I'd rather have her alchemizing shit than getting friendzoned, curiously my favorite parts of ACT 6 are the dreamselves part, which I didn't like in other acts.

well of course robots aren't sexual beings but since it was created/programmed/sent by Dirk you have to take it as sort of a 'stand-in' for Dirk or otherwise part of his 'puppet-master schemes' whatever the hell those are.

THAT SAID there is a big difference between beating someone up (not good) and rape (even more not good) and you shouldn't equate the two at all times, but they (violence and rape) are heavily linked to each other. ALSO there is unfortunately this big cultural misconception that ALL gay men are predators, tryin ta convert/surprise buttsex all the unsuspecting and innocent young straight dudes against their will, and maybe Dirk gave this impression at first glance, since he sent an attack bot after Jake and he/the AR are giving Jake a run-around???

What's there to agree with? Gay men are predators? Gay romances can never be shown in works where straight people might see them, they have to be segregated off in the gay-romantic section? That someone who honestly think gay-rape is a better story than gay-romance is NOT homophobic?
