No updates on 4/20 because Hussie is to busy getting high off weed.
I am disappointed Hussie hasn't made bone bulge refer to a trolls elbow or something.
Mostly because it would retroactively make about 60% of the fanwork that much funnier.
This is probably a complaint to the future. But if it turns out that the Condesce is mind controlled by Vriska and Tavros all along, which is why she does the things that she does, it would be a pretty lackluster story development imo. I don't want to see another Jack Noir incident. One can pretty much point fingers at Vriska for practically all misfortunes and ruining people's shit. May as well make her the final villain rather than Lord English which is lame because she is dead but still wreak havoc. The hype surrounding the enigma of Betty Crocker/Condesce will all but vanish lowering her into a victim rather than a developing antagonist.
Actually I'm p. sure that it's just representing how she was using mind control for experiments on humans and animals as Dirk stated, and there was no other way to represent the mind control so Hussie used Tarvos's and Vriska's symbols.
I can see why you'd think that though.
Considering literally every other time Vriska or Tavros' symbol appeared in someone's forehead it meant they were controlling someone and never anything else, I can see how this would lead people to believe the Condesce is being mind controlled, what the text said notwithstanding.

Maybe he should have dyed the symbols pinkish?
The symbol has appeared on the forehead of both the controller and the controllee.
This signature has been hidden because it exceeds 80px in COOLNESS!
I'm wondering if being mind controlled is even a legitimate complaint.
Only Tavros' symbol ever appeared in his forehead when he was using his powers, and only Vriska's symbol appeared in her forehead when she was using her powers. Whenever the symbol was in someone else's head, they were controlling that character. That Bec panel only supports my argument. The Condesce is the only time someone's symbol appearing in a second character's head meant that second character was using the first character's powers.
The number of people who were confused about what was happening even with the text explaining it says to me this was a less than optimal decision on Hussie's part. It would have been much less confusing if it was at least somewhat consistent with previous uses of mind control powers. Maybe using the Condesce's symbol, but having it change its colour to that of Tavros'/Aradia's/Vriska's symbols?
Diaminopurine trolls - where are they?
Because Uracil is overrated.
I was a bit disapointed that Sollux and Aradia didn't appear in the intermission. I'm curious as to what's happened to them.
For me, Hussie didn't really do anything wrong, this was more of a problem with readers who have a hard time understanding what 'context' is. Because seriously. Damn. It really irks me when things are plainly stated and people are still confused by them. It just seems like too many people skim through the text without really understanding it comprehensively (a habit from school tests, I suppose?).
To be fair, the explanation was from Dirk, and he's not omniscient. It was possible that Tavros and Vriska were somehow providing the Condesce with powers and he didn't know about that part, plus we had just seen them making plans to do "something". Now that we've seen her using Aradia and Sollux's powers this is less likely.
That's another thing that annoys me. How some people, when they're presented with information on the story from a character, assume that it's probably false without any good reason. Because if ALL Hussie ever did was present us with information and later shows that all of it was completely wrong.....yeah...There's always a degree of reliability in the facts we're presented with. Some things are meant to be mysterious. You get that from context (which seems to be a difficult task for some people). Some things are just clear cut. We knew trolls, as a race, had psychic powers. We knew that the Condesce had some limited abilities herself (being able to commune with Gl'bgolyb from afar). Dirk stated that she was conducting experiments so that she could unlock her full psychic potential.
And then some people assumed from the picture that Vriska and Tavros' ghosts were controlling the Condesce from beyond the grave....
There's no reason why Dirk would be wrong about the Condesce performing experiments on herself. It's likely a second hand account from a member of the resistance (Rose, Dave, or Jade perhaps).
And Tavros can't even use his powers on the Condesce; he's limited to communing with beasts. Plus, aside from being resistant to psychic attacks, the Condesce isn't exactly anyone you would call 'weak willed', so unless you forgot about these things (the first part is fine, since it's something that's gleaned from context, which like I said before, doesn't seem to be easy for some people here to do), you'd know there was no way Vriska's powers could work on the Condesce.
This is something that really annoys me with some of the characters. Equius, for example, is the sort of character who interests me, and has had an intriguing personality, but he has next to no relevance to the plot, so we never got to know that much about him. And I get that Hussie can't have all of the character arcs going full blast at once, but there are a fair amount of characters that we got a teeny glimpse at and then just sort of disappeared until we needed them.
Well with Sollux and Aradia's fates, we can either assume that
- They were successful at slowing Jack down for a while, then absconded
- They succeeded, then Jack killed them
- They failed, Jack killed them
- They failed, then absconded
- They didn't actually try to slow Jack down, so they absconded
- They didn't actually try to slow Jack down, so they were killed
- Something else happened
Though I really wish Hussie could've used some intermission time to show they were alive/dead or something. Maybe at least showed their blood on Jack's sword if they were dead or something. They'll likely appear in the future though, in a dream bubble or A6I3.
It's a real shame, I really want to know what happened to them, since Sol is one of my favorites and Aradia's my patron.
