I will respectfully disagree with you here, only because the rules tend to be broken a lot around here, and the anticipation of rules being broken is part of what makes it exciting.

I mean, that'd be like seeing Kanaya's missing corpse and chainsaw related damages and other vampire-based foreshadowing and going "NO THIS CANNOT BE A REVIVAL OF ANY KIND, THAT BREAKS THE ESTABLISHED DEAD RULE."

Not really? The example you're showing would mean that we'd have to definitely discard whatever rule we had in mind. Seeing a dead God tier Karkat is not the same, because it fits into the rules we already know. It doesn't demand you to question the rules. So when it is confirmed that it does not, in fact, break the rules, then complaining that it's bullshit makes absolutely no sense. It just doesn't. It's almost unfair to complain that the rules aren't being broken.

And besides, the alternative is, what, playing out your... your... I don't want to say fanfiction but you pretty much wrote out an actual outline to a story, and if the alternative is playing out your fanfiction, then that's what you're actually complaining about, isn't it? The story isn't bending over backwards to your canon-breaking fanfiction. I know people say "fanfiction" in response to theories in a demeaning way and I'm trying not to do that but that's what is almost literally happening here, isn't it?

And yes, the fanfiction comment is accurate. I was all excited about the idea of Karkat dying, then John's CHOICE being to revive either him or Vriska, and that would have been pretty interesting in my opinion! (Also, in my fanfic, Vriska tells him to pick Karkat for some dumbass reason and he does so. Man that would have been so sweet.)

I do think that the appearance of GodKat there does encourage you to question the rules. The pre-scratch Signless theory honestly felt like it had more weight to me, personally, because GodKat at least brings up the question of "What the fuck is he doing hanging out with Nepeta, anyways?" Signless at least had a thing with Nepeta's ancestor, so that made more sense to me than "There's a God Tier Karkat here for...no particular reason?"

...besides, what's unfair about disliking ANYTHING? It's not like it's a deal breaker for me, or that it ruins anybody's character arc or whatever. It's just "Hey, this was a plausible cool thing that could have happened, but didn't. Instead, we got the least entertaining and most crowd pleasing answer for it."

Want to see Karkat die. It's not that I don't like him or anything, but that'd have been a cool plot twist. And seeing Karkat ascend, while everybody has a stiffness in the back of their throats because that would 1. Be awesome for Karkat and his fans, and 2. Make this foreshadowing of his eventual death stronger.

And him dying heroicly would be so freaking cool. But yeah. This is mainly me whining that my fanfic did not get played out here.

Yeah, but before the doomed timeline thing was confirmed, him going God Tier would have made it seem more inevitable.

And gave a more solid guarantee that it'd be awesome, my requiring it to be Just or Heroic. Now he can just have a sad randomly-stabbed ending. Which would still be interesting, but not "crowning moment of awesome" that a heroic death could have been.

Now excuse me, I got some fanfic to not write and expect Hussie to do it for me. Gamzee kills Kanaya, and all of Karkat's friends abandon him because he still tries to defend Gamzee after that... that'd be a cool plot twist.

That is not quite the only possibility. Other valid explanations include Gamzee having been God tier this whole time (he may have used a crypt bed during the session), or Gamzee dressing up in an alchemized God tier outfit without actually having God tier (he has no wings).

Also, there is no apt comparison to be made, because I am not actively expecting a rule to be broken, nor am I even a little prepared to feel disappointed if no rules have been broken. I am open to the possibility that the rules I know so far are wrong, but I won't call bullshit if that's not the case because there is no reason to do so.

It seems to me that Gamzee probably went Godtier during the troll session. Possibly during Regisurp or something when the others were all top busy to notice. It would make sense considering he was apparently ludicrously OP during the BK battle.

My only recent complaint is that the light from the lanterns in [S] Act 6 Act 3 don't really match when they're shining over the hole where Jane's house is. Like they seem to go in opposite directions. Like in that flash the orange light shines into the hole when it's facing northwest but [S] Jane: Proceed it shines in when it's facing southeast.

I was bothered with this too...also since the light comes into the crypt before you past the life door. The hole of the house and Dirk's light seems like its coming from behind her.
