I'm not cool with this dream bubble ghosts thing. Dead characters should just be dead whether they had real characterization or not. To me this feels like an "Oops maybe I shouldn't have killed off the most interesting character let me cheat her back in" on Hussie's part.

I liked Vriska a lot, but she's gone and Hussie should just write the rest of the characters better to fill the void.

Out of the new kids Roxy seems to be the only interesting one. The rest of them are too much like their beta counterparts. I get their connection but this whole scratch session feels like a rehash with romance sprinkled in.

I don't think it could possibly be an "oops, let me fix that mistake" reaction on Hussie's part given that it's been foreshadowed for a while, what with Jake's interest in blue spider girls and all. There was clearly some sort of Vriska-related development waiting to drop; it has dropped (or has begun to). Whether that development is a good plot choice remains to be seen. Maybe in the end it will seem weird that Hussie killed her off just to revive [?] her soon after, but that's the kind of thing that can only be judged in long-term perspective. Anyway, whatever he's doing, he seems to have had it fairly well planned out.

I agree with you about Roxy being the only really interesting new kid. I just want the plot to move forward. Maybe I will like the characters more when more starts happening.

I mean, it doesn't make sense to us that ghosts or whatever can do that, but that's only via our traditional understanding of ghosts. Homestuck ghosts or spirits or whatever could work in this weird ass way, we don't know.

I am very much into it being explained in the most hilariously terrible way possible. She is the result of a Vriska/Terezi hatechild, who grew up to have another lovechild with john, whose new baby grew up to have a hatechild with the first Vriska, creating our mysterious scorpio girl.

That is terrible and my new headcanon.

I didn't want Vriska to die, but she did. It was interesting and good for the story so I'm ok with it. But honestly the vacuum that was created when her character was killed off hasn't properly been filled or dealt with in any meaningful way. If the other trolls stepped up and became more interesting it might had made a difference but now I'm feeling very apathetic towards the whole story.
The biggest problem with the remaining trolls is that while they obviously have some distinguishing character traits they're still sort of dead end. And the characters that we didn't really know that well that could have used this opportunity to develop and grow are dead. it's a shame really. It's like Hussie blew his wad on Vriska storyline and now he's rather spent. Alpha feels like it's being dialed in.

Well there could be only one I guess, we don't know anything about UU's client player (was it client? cant remember.) Though I think it would be weird for an old player to start a new session.

I do agree that the story would be better without new trolls, but then, I have no idea what will happen next!

I think Arms means "Hussie isn't going to have gay characters just to make yaoi fangirls happy, but because he has something interesting to do with the idea." I mean, if it makes yaoi fangrls happy, good for them, but I feel like its obvious that is in no way Hussie's intent. Keep in mind this is a guy who, a year ago, was routinely lambasted over the fact that he appeared to despise fans. Its kind of funny that he now seems to be catching flak for seemingly catering to them too much.

I kind of find that hard to believe cuz Hussie's been droppin mad hints that Bro/Dirk's been gay since like... Act 2 or 3, way before the romance and the trolls and the quadrants and the yowees all got up ins HS's bussiness. Maybe he didn't plan for it to be as big a thing? I dunno but he's also apparently been working towards a guardian/kid switcheroo for all of like Act 5.2 so he had to have some plan for their personalities and issues and feeligns and junk right?

But I think Hussie is great at improvising, so him deciding to make Dirk gay after getting the idea from the fanbase or something, probably before Dirk came along or whatever, was done thinking he can fit it into the story just fine. and he is!
