Onionstuck: A Pikmin Session

Welp, let's do this. I have this idea for a coloring system of the Pikmin that I do not exactly consider my fanon (I belive MSPA fans are calling it headcanon?), but I still like it and I want to get this out before leaks of Pikmin 3 disprove this system.

You'll find out the system later. It will be no later than when we meet the cave dwellers.

A young Red Pikmin stands in his room of the Onion. And it just so happens that today is the thirtieth day since he was born and plucked out of the ground. Though it was thirty days ago that this Pikmin was given life, it is not until now that he gets a name! (Prefferably a name that sounds like one of the Great Giants that walk among the earth.) After all, Pikmin don't tend to get names right away: they multiply rapidly and are usually reffered to in groups, so it's not really that necessary. To get a name hints that a Pikmin will finally move up a notch in the ordering chain. Not nearly to the ranks of the grand whistelers, but at least they'll be above the pellet gatherers.

Anyway, what shall the name is this Pikmin be?

Just to be clear about that "Great Giants" part, the name should be something that would be given to a human. No alien-sounding names.

Blah blah blah I used the Pikmin bases from the templates linked to in the Image Manips threads, with edits for the stem/leaf and the feet. I really like how the stem came out, but the feet? Shitty, shitty, shitty. I'll try to improve the art style when I can.

I think the biggest pain in this panel was finding the right palette for the onion. I wanted it to look bright, but for a reason that will be revealed later, I also wanted the Pikmin to be the brightest colors of the hex codes. I also did not want the Pikmin and the interior of the onion to be the same color.

This guy doesn't have time for these gags. Some of his friends might, but not him. He slices your first suggestion in two with his leaf. Which is an impressive feat, seeing as how the plants at the top of a Pikmin's stem are usually used for hitting, not cutting.

(Well technically, a Pikmin's gender doesn't usually matter, unless you were to count the Onion as a third gender. There are some differences between male and female Pikmin, but those are pretty much trivial.)

Well, for this adventure I assume that Pikmin genders are vestigial. Compare it to the trolls, whereas the Onion sort of serves as a counterpart to the Mother Grub. (Assuming I'm remembering things right.) It's also for simplicities's sake, so that I don't have to reffer to everybody through gender neutral pronouns and so that this SBLUM session can technically have a gender balance.

You see, a WMG in TV Tropes states that a lifecycle goes Pikmin > Candypop Bud > Onion (And, spoiler alert, this will become important later on). I decided to add on to this by saying that the race started with only Pikmin. During then, genders actually mattered and they reproduced in a process -- WITHOUT GOING INTO DETAIL -- between a male and a female.

Then at some point, many of them died, including all most of the Red, Yellow, and Blue. After time, they eventually matured into either Candypop Buds (which you find from the Forest Navel onward) or to the Onions themselves.

Another reason why I'm going with this is because of a rather emotional fan video (Link). Towards the beginning, there appeared to be one Pikmin crushing on another, and the latter had a slightly different appearance. (IIRC, "she" was one of the few with a flower and looked a little lighter.) Near the end, (SPOILERS) the race is killed off, but it's strongly implied that the last Blue, Red, and maybe Yellow of the group will become the Onions for Olimar to encounter.

I had another idea that Pikmin really don't have genders and that they "decide" what sex they will be, but that was kind of stupid and a little steriotypical.

Anyway, the next update will probably come tommorow. I have a lot of stuff I need to work on, both homework for my school and I a fan fic for which I made a set deadline at Valemtimes Day Valentines Day. Plus, I'll have to draw the rest of the room, which I have not even started on yet.

Working on "Examine room." I have the outline of the room finished, but not the background things.

Also, this adventure might be comedic in some parts, but it's not even close to a joke adventure like Sweet Jade and Hella John. So try to keep joke suggestions to a minimum. Fooling around (IE alchemising using silly/odd ingridients) is OK, just so long as they are actually relevant to the story.

And now there's more fanon. Pikmin have mouths in this. But to be fair, if you look closley at Mushroom Pikmin you can see something resembling a mouth shape. You'll see what I do with Blue Pikmin. (Whom, I think, have GILLS, not MOUTHS.)

Why are you so against his name being Mibbs?

Because I thought it was some kind of joke, like with how everyone's suggesting the rat in Trol Seasson's (brief) Rat Intermission should be named Mibbs after the user too.

But if anyone's serious (I doubt it), I might name the second important male Pikmin (or character) we are introduced to "Mibbs." Just come up with a last name. And it can't be something like "Sbbim." But not now. Now, we command Wally.

Your name is WALLY O (The O is short for "Oliver."), and you are a part of the LANTREE line. As implied before, you were a PELLET GATHERER, which meant that the GRAND WHISTELERS usually order you to look for pellets, and maybe kill off some of the WEAKER BEASTS, like dwarf bulborbs or sheargrub. But now, you hope that thirty days is more than enough to move up to HUNTING LARGER STUFF. Which is good, because YOU KIND OF LIKE BEATING STUFF UP, and you consider youself FAIRLY STRONG even by Red Pikmin standards. Also, it's about time; the legendary Olimar has been said to start some Pikmin working on such tasks on the day of their birth.

For your intrests outside of work, you really have a bit of a PATIENCE PROBLEM. You don't like DISTRACTIONS, so much that you AVOID NECTAR. (Hence why you still have only a leaf.) But if there's one thing you can't ignore, it's ULTRA SPICY JUICE. Oh boy oh boy. You really like SPICY STUFF, as well as other HOT THINGS. You even have a bottle on your DESK. In spite of you ALWAYS WANTING YOUR PEERS TO JUST WORK WITH YOU ON A TASK, you can't help but sneak off to HANG OUT BY A FIRE GEYSER OR TWO. You're also a bit of a HISTORY BUFF, so much as to have a copy of the records of the legendary CAPTAIN OLIMAR in your room.

Reflecting your like for hunting (and, now, your enthusiasm over your possible promotion), your Pikhandle is bulborbBurner and you tend to get IMPATIENT and EMPHASISE certain words WAY TOO OFTEN.

By the way, this takes place far after the events of the games. Olimar is not commanding them; the Pikmin have set up a society on their own.

I have no idea what the rating for this will be, but for now I want to try to keep it PG. So swearing will be at a minimum unless I make up my mind.

Wally's quirk is supposed to kind of be fire-like in some way...

BTW I'm kind of surprized nobody suggested "Steve" for the name. Steve is a bit of a meme within the Pikmin fandom. I usually don't like memes, but if someone where to suggest Steve I might have actually named him that.
