I had to hear about Homestuck from about 5 different places, most notably TVTropes, before I actually read the thing past the first 20 pages or so. (Curse you, short attention span! Why didn't I discover this sooner?!)

Hmm I honestly don't know. xD
I admit, I got bored during Act 1 and I quit for a while, but something called me back to read it again so I did.
And now I absolutely love it! c:
Um, I started reading it, and then in the middle of something like, I dunno, act four, I ended up stopping for a while? I can't remember why, or if there even was a good reason besides me having a short attention span or something. But a few months later I started reading it again. And I can't remember why I did that either.
Wow, that was the worst possible answer.
But to be honest, I really liked Homestuck since I first started reading it. So I guess what really stuck me on Homestuck was Problem Sleuth.
I was on 4chan, /v/ exactly, and people were making fun of homestuck. I decided to check it out for myself before being one of those guys who was like "OMG IT SUX." Noticed one of my steam friends has wayward vagabond as an avatar and he told me to keep reading when i kept quitting. Something like that, now i have about 5 friends who read it and am going to use this thread to recruit another.

Everyone knows all trolls have 20/20 vision, Sollux's is 10/10 even. All trolls who wear glasses are hipsters who think they look: "awwesome, sophistic8ed, 2pectacular B), JUST1F13D, and D--> E%ceptionally c001."
I can actually pinpoint it to a specific moment. It was the part in WV: Ascend when for a split second we think WV's port has exploded, but instead the whole thing goes flying up with him unharmed. I remember saying out loud 'Woaaaaah," getting chills, the whole shebang.
Started reading Homestuck about.... a month or so ago? Noticed the huge amount of entries in TvTropes and spoiled one or two things (thankfully forgot them so the surprise wasn't ruined). I became hooked somewhere around when Dave was introduced, though I was curious from page one due to said semi-spoiled events in a "How did they get there?" sort of way.
for( ; ; ){ if(time != null) {time.tick(); time.tock(); }else{ all = null; break;}}
I have already detailed my story of how I discovered Homestuck, but what stuck me was the EoA 2. The scene where Mom watches the meteors falling is the exact moment when I realized that I was going to read the hell out of this story. And I did.
My friend pretty much spoiled everything for me and told/showed me how awesome it was by showing me the Cascade page.
Thus after a while I decided to actually started reading it, and I HATED the first act. I go sooooooo bored with it, so I stopped reading for about three months.
then last month I decided to pick it back up at Act three (because I forgot my place somewhere in act 2) and have been reading ever since, and now I'm up to Act 5.
I found out about it in 2010/early 2011 when people were obsessing over it in another forum. I went to the TVTropes page and followed their instruction to read the entire thing before viewing anything below the description.
I then spent many days reading it, staying up ridiculously late even, until I got to "Tick. Tock. HONK." which was the last update for that timeframe.
I have no idea what kept me in, maybe it was the idea of the trolls that I would eventually get to, or just the promise of the plot idea.
[S] Jade: Enter.
Hands down.
A group of people on another place I go to talked about it a lot and I felt out of the loop, so I asked one of them what Homestuck was this November and he linked me to it.
That was probably one of the better decisions I've made in my life.
Anyway, I was weirded out by it a bit at first, but he told me to at least finish Act 1. There were a lot of little nuances about it I found neat and enjoyable along the way, but I was really intrigued by the End Of Act 1 flash. I asked if it kept the same quality throughout, and he told me no- it got better.
So I kept going and I finished in about 2 weeks. It was excellent.
Bluh.
I remember though about a year before THAT incident that I had stumbled on MSPA (From Kimiko's adventure too) :x
I went through a few pages, went "......what??" and left.
However later I actually read it.
Dunno really. The flipping through for an nonexistent end eventually turned into actual reading, and then I got hooked.
My friend was always talking about MSPA, and I never gave it a chance until recently. The only thing he really showed me from it were SBaHJ and the GIF of the triple truffle shuffle, so I thought it was absolutely ridiculous.
It wasn't until sometime last month when he posted a youtube video of Suburban Jungle acapella (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qFCPT5Kcdo). I watched it like 4 times, and was like, "Man, I hate acapella, but this animation is epic... Actually, this song is pretty catchy..."
I decided to start reading Homestuck from there, but around Act 2 I felt like, "Man, it feels like there's a lot of references to his other stories." So I read all Problem Sleuth and Jailbreak. After that, I thought Problem Sleuth was cool, but I didn't feel like I could relate to the characters. I continued reading Homestuck. I even spent an entire Sunday reading it and didn't even catch up at the time. Now I'm spoiled by all my binge reading, and I crave more updates.
I said in the topic starter that act 1 was slow, and I can understand people not getting past it, but that didn't happen to me at ALL. Being bored with how long it takes to do something exciting I get, but it's so charming! How can you "hate" it?
I am sometimes this guy:
i saw it a lot around dA, though i was a bit put off by the hero costumes because the hoods looked ridiculous o_o;; and people kept mentioning what a crazy fanbase it has, etc. (i'm all for huge and crazy fanbases to share the love with, barring hetalia as i don't really see the charm of it). there were also a lot of people who were just like laksjd;as;kdj YOU'VE GOT TO READ IT. SERIOUSLY. RIGHT NOW. and other people, who disliked it, said it was too convoluted, which was something right up my alley as complex stories/universes just seem more realistic to me.
i remember getting really hooked onto it because of the pesterlogs and the humor and the solid characterization. i've got to read hussie's older works, whenever i get around to it. he really has a way of charming the readers.

Robot/Shadow 2 is my OTP
[s] Dave:accelerate was the video that hooked me
...well.
I tried reading it about four times.
On my fourth re-try I got all the way through act one...and then.
The end of Act I.
and that flash.
my brain matter expelled itself from my skull in an explosive manner.
At that moment, I was hooked, and it's been my daily drug ever since then.

Well, obviously, I heard a bunch of stuff about this Homestuck thing from across the internet, on favourite YouTube channels such as GeneralIvan and similar. Buuut all I knew about it was that it was that thing with the guys with the weird horns. So, one day, I decided to find out about Homestuck.
and here we are. (:
Get me on Pesterchum! Chumhandle: caliginousChemical
Two of my friends were always talking about it and were saying how awesome it is. They eventually linked me the first SBAHJ comic and were all like, "Man, this is the shit!" I didn't understand and thought it was rather dumb to be honest. I eventually gave it another go in the summer of 2010 and started reading HS. I thought the beginning was boring but the moment I got hooked was the first flash at the end of Act 1. It was love at first flash.![]()
I found out about Homestuck's existence through fanart on Deviantart. The trolls looked interesting, and there was A LOT of fanart, so I Googled it, but it looked kinda boring so I dropped the idea of reading it. HOWEVER! A month or two after I started college, I made friends with a girl who had complimented me on my Gryffindor costume. Coincidentally, she was a Homestuck. With her encouragement, I tried to read the story. I was really confused, but as per my nature, I WANTED TO UNDERSTAND. So I kept reading. And reading... I think '[S]John: Take bite of apple' was the official moment.
Hello ;]
I have been lurking these forums as a guest for a while and now i didn't know where to actually start posting, so i thought i might as well post here. ;]
So.. I have been actually dragged into reading Homestuck when someone sent me a sheet of characters of the comic so i could write my first impressions on it. So i began reading Homestuck and filled that sheet roughly while i read act 1-2. So in only did the first little part of it without actually knowing anything, but hey. >;D
This is what came out in the end, and it was posted by Nordinkel in this thread. By that time i was already totally into Homestuck and read the whole thing up to Cascade in about two and a half weeks :D
I must say i haven't regretted it yet, but i am kinda embarrassed about how my filled sheet relates with the actual canonical circumstances in the comic. >.<
Yeah. I guess i kinda kept on reading act 1-2 because of massive curiosity, and then read on because of awe. because of aaaaaaaawwwwwe.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWE. or something. i don't know. I just love it. :D
