I am simultaneously pretending the war has something to do with the riddles even though no one except you knows the riddles, while also referencing the John Cleese television series Fawlty Towers, one episode of which featured Germans staying at the bed & breakfast that was the setting of the show. Cleese was quite adamant that they should not mention WWII to avoid offense, and proceeded to suffer from a head injury which resulted in him bringing up all the worst aspects of the war, which was made all the worse by the fact that these people were not of German ethnicity, but Jewish and therefore less offended and ashamed and more reminded of the worst moments of their lives.

Lawlz. So you're saying you're John Cleese, then? :P

Booyah! I got the master of character analysis to join!

Just one more, and your session can begin!

EDIT: I will say that I have a particular ending for you in mind, Ranter. Let's call it the 413 Ending. But we'll see. <== subtle hint

Added one final note to the FAQ. It is, perhaps, the most important note of all.

    Re: Let's Play HOMESTUCK

According to the waiting list, Godbot is a Legendary Ranter.

Whether this is true or not I cannot say.

EDIT: You know what? I'll go ahead and say it. This happens to be a clue for ACT 1. Not my original intention, but whatevs. DEAL WITH IT.

    Re: Let's Play HOMESTUCK

So, am I right in thinking that answering these riddles will be a bit like playing Homestuck ourselves?
Or is it more that the answers are Homestuck related?
Or...could it be that is one of the things you can't tell us?

    Re: Let's Play HOMESTUCK

I don't think it's revealing too much to say that it's both!

As to why, well... that would be telling.

EDIT: Also, I feel I should mention that as of now, I have FOUR FIVE SIX SEVEN EIGHT 413 possible endings in mind. Your choices will determine which you receive. The first session to unlock each ending will be noted in the HALL OF FAME.

EDITx2: I went ahead and added a couple of addendums to the first addendum in the FAQ. Now I'll explain why.

If this thread is successful, I will consider it to be my greatest contribution to this forum, and to Homestuck. But it can only succeed if YOU succeed.

I am reminded of a quote I made about my title, the Page of Text, recently:

Quote Originally Posted by ardentApathy View Post

As such, I am fine with giving hints. In fact, I love it! However, I have a few rules as far as hint-giving is concerned:

    1. They must be subtle.
    2. They must not directly reference the riddles or the solutions.
    3. They must not be labeled as hints unless I myself am the one doing it. (see: subtle)
    4. If you ask me for hints, I will not give them.

Ensuring the riddles and solutions remain a mystery to everyone until they start playing is key to the mission of this thread. <== subtle hint right thar

EDITx3: Also, I just now realized that my definition of Page of Text also applies to Doc Scratch. :O <== subtle hint

EDITx4: From now on, I will endeavor to put as many subtle hints in my posts as possible. I will also say that a subtle question deserves a subtle answer. <== subtle hint

EDITX5: Really, I think one of my goals at this point is to see how many clues and hints I can give before people go mad trying to keep track of them all. :P <== what a fucking subtle hint this is

    I am, obviously. :P

EDIT: Shit. I just came up with an idea for the third player. A minor one, but still. Again, this doesn't change anything about the game or the riddle you've been given. And you won't notice the difference unless you screw up. <== subtle hint

EDITx2: I love these arrows. They serve their purpose admirably. <====> subtle hint

Hmm... I'd like to give that a shot, although I'm not really sure if I'm any good at riddles. But it sounds interesting!

Congrats! You have just started the Beta session!

Your session may choose to cooperate with the Alpha session, and so reach the ending faster, or compete, and so take all the glory for yourselves. The choice is yours.

No more sessions may begin until one of these two end. You can still save a place on the waiting list, though!

Oh I shall. Most assuredly. >:]

EDIT: I just thought up my favorite ending of all. Best part is, it requires almost no modification of the Riddle itself. I call it the BYSTANDER Ending. <== this is a hint for ACT 1

EDITx2: The above clue is the only thing necessary to understand the BYSTANDER Ending, and how to achieve it.

God, I love it when the pieces just fall into place like that.

EDITx7: The above clue is also very helpful to earning the BYSTANDER Ending.

EDITx3: Does anyone know how to switch to the Scratch theme? Or did they take that out?

EDITx4: I have added a note to the FAQ that also sums up the BYSTANDER Ending.

EDITx5: I have already given hints to every part of the Riddle. My, I am a busy little bee.

EDITx6: Also, I have already posted an Answer to the Riddle. See if you can find it! <== I have not yet figured out how you can reach this Ending of the Riddle. That is up to you. I will say this much: it will take at LEAST 413 sessions to reach it.

Okay, goodness gracious! The clues came in while I slept.

I'm sending a message to everyone, I think I know some of the answer!
But here's the thing, don't tell Aa, up there what I send you.

    >I'm sending a message to everyone

And so the game begins in earnest.

    >The clues came in while I slept.

Well, I did say I wouldn't change the game on you while you were playing. :P

    >But here's the thing, don't tell Aa, up there what I send you.

I'm curious as to which clue you are basing this on.

aA, you really are enjoying that, aren't you? You keep adding more and more, messing with our heads. This thread should be called Crypticstuck or something.

edit: IDE: aA is Doc Scratch. It is him.

As I said, this is a metaphor for Homestuck. You can always find more clues if you do a little digging. This is what I love about it.

Picking out the important clues is the hard part.

But this gets easier the farther you progress in HOMESTUCK.

EDIT: ==> CONGRATULATIONS! You are the first to exploit a loophole in the rules. Everyone else should follow her example.

EDITx2: But don't be fooled. You still have much to do to solve the Riddle.

EDITx3: That said, you all have exceeded my wildest expectations. You have already discovered several Answers.

But you have yet to leave the first act.

WARNING: You are perilously close to invalidating your session.

    You have violated Rule 5.

    This is your final warning.

To the only person with the ability to answer, of course.

It is their job to send it to me.

HINT: In this case, it's you.

HINTx2: In this case, it is also everybody else.
