And I agree that would be my WV headcanon for singing if I had one. But I second that Jack should be grittier, as much as I love that heavenly voice.

Now that I think about it, I agree. The guy who voiced Jack in that video Paradoxius linked was omgheavenly, even with the scratchiness (It's a hilarious pun if you think about it) and the accent. He sounds like a mobster, which fits his Midnight Crew personality. Ugh I ramble about unimportant things, I apologize. Anyways. (yay speculative headcanon sharing)

That's still a long way off. It's book two and we're not even through the first act of book one yet. I think it's best to leave it until then when we know what book two is even going to be like.

Speaking of focus, my schedule is almost as clear as I want it to be, so I figure I may as well get back to organizational duties proper. Having songs is great and wonderful, and it's awesome how many people want to help with that. But we really need to figure out everything that comes along with it. I'm talking script and story (like always. :P). Now, I am totally good with going through and cutting out stuff that I feel isn't going anywhere... But that's not cool, or at all group-effort-y. So, I think we need a couple of things from everyone reading the thread:

1) If your name is on the OPs for a song that is to be used in Act One Book One (or whatever phrasing we use for the first part of the show), we need confirmation you're still working on it. An idea, a clip, a text blurb, something to indicate you're not lost in the wilderness. If you don't want to or cannot continue working on a song, let us know so somebody else can. It's nothing personal, we're all busy (case in point), but we really need to know who's in and who's out.

2) If you have a specific request on what should/shouldn't be in the plot... Just say so! If you think it shouldn't be used, give reasons why and how to get around that specific point. For example, I couldn't say, "no exiles, cuz they're dumb". Homestuck is complicated, and there's a lot of material, so stuff will get cut, but keeping true to the original is our goal. The script will be written as we get more of the plot specifics ironed out, so the sooner we get that done, the sooner we can dig even deeper!

I think those two points really cover most everything at this point. If you have a song idea, write it out and all that, but as long as we're cutting, remember that it may not be used (though chances are it will, cuz we're cool and such).

So hi, I'm a lurker who knows some things about music. I randomly decided to make orchestral scoring, and using one of the default Sibelius setups and applying 18 vocalist staves (4 kids, 12 trolls and 2 staves for assorted others) it looks like this;

But yeah, I'll work on a shitty intro piece and I'll see if I can't renotate some other pieces. Wish me luck... I think I'll be needing it.
