    Video Games You Wish Existed

The premise here is simple: there are games that don't exist, and we think that they totally should. This is where we share those ideas, be they re-envisionings, revamps, sequels, or completely original stuff.

    To start things off...

Star Wars: Battlefront 3 - The amazingness of Battlefronts 1 and 2, updated to Battlefield 3 standards in both graphics and gameplay. The visual aesthetic takes some cues from Republic Commando, and the different factions play entirely differently (For example, Empire has better equipment but little variety and focuses on up-front swarm tactics. Rebels have stuff held together with duct tape and prayers and insanely customizeable loadouts, and they focus on being sneaky bastards who blow things up). Instant Action maps are still kept in for those who want to play off-line, and the AI has been upgraded accordingly.

Mod support would, of course, be easy, encouraged, and available from day one.

Re: Video Games You Wish Existed

I'd like Battlefront 3, for sure. The only change I would like from the others is better AI, though.

I would also have liked another game like Legend of Dragoon. Probably not a direct sequel but something with the same flavor (If this exists please tell me now).

As for a completely original concept, I'd like a videogame, don't care about the setting, but maybe a fantasy or medieval setting, that was absurdly realistic in terms of gameplay, and played like Elder Scrolls games or Mount and Blade or something. When I play games I really, really don't like that a person is taking a dozen arrows in the chest like it's a minor inconvenience, or standing after being hit with a warhammer. I mean I understand WHY games are like that, but it's always bothered me for some reason!
I'd like to play a game where I survive by skill or clever thinking instead of maximizing a health bar, and where I can't just carry five hundred weightless arrows and 3 sets of armor on me at all times. Where I can't just backpedal with a bow while someone hacks at me with an axe and being wounded was actually detrimental to my performance. Where fighting a pack of wolves isn't considered introductory. Because in a game like that, I would actually feel heroic and badass for killing three people at once, where in games now something like that is routine.

Yes, it would be deadly and unforgiving and would never really sell well, and I doubt I'll ever see a videogame like that, but hey, a girl can dream. I play tabletop RPGs like that, though, which is fun and satisfying, but I'd like to see it in a videogame too!

SBURB SBURB SBURB SBURB SBURB SBURB SBURB.

Huh, I just noticed how dumb the word SBURB sounds...

But seriously, I really wish they had a sequal to Majora's Mask, bringing back the whole 3-day cycle system.
Except this time make it even bigger, with a lot more to do and keep track of.
    Frig I loved Majora's Mask.

@ MythicalWashrag - I had thought of a survival horror game along those lines a while ago. Very trippy dream-logic Lovecraftian stuff there, but a lot of it boiled down to the fact that if you had six bullets for your gun you were a lucky son of a bitch, because it mean you could get more food when you traded.

@Descriptior - YES. MM has the best atmosphere of all the Zelda games, period.

This. So much. Also speaking of Mount And Blade/Skyrim, just imagine how much of an improvement Skyrim would be if they threw in that little piece of economy that makes Mount seem so fun. I want to go to Winterhold and have people asking to buy wheat off me for stupidly high prices. Not enough to fund an armory or whatnot, but enough to make a living.

I'd also like a game where lack of sleep and food was actually a thing, and where injuries took actual time to heal. It would be super cool to play a game where you naturally gain a limp for a few days.

Yes, I like this idea. I wish more games focused on non-combat additions like that.
Also yay another person who plays M&B /squeee

Count me in also on agreement. Another move would be, for a more modern setting, making first aid kits actual first aid kits. Heaven help you if there's no neosporin in there.

    Or if it's empty.

Another thing more 1st person games need to have: hands. I want to see my character's hands physically opening that door and climbing that ladder.

I would love a simple little shoot-em-up where you played as a white blood cell pumping viruses and bacteria full of antibodies while racing through blood vessels.

I'd like to play a Fire Emblem type game with a much more freeform party. You would be able to field everyone at all times, and the makeup of the party could change every chapter, with people joining and leaving based on individual character motivations. There would be a few types of motivations (these could send characters away or keep them with you) with strength that varied between characters. First, you have individual motivations: plot stuff, basically. These can't really be changed. What you can mess around with are three types of support: Leadership (one Leader has several Followers of variable Loyalty), Friendship (a character has several people they like and listen to, but probably wouldn't die for), and Bonds (very close friends, siblings, and lovers. Most characters have one or two at most, and messing with them is dangerous but rewarding). Also FE4's giant chapters.

    1) Osmosis Jones the Game FUCK YEAH

    2) I have no idea, but I'm seriously flattered.

@Keiros - Revamped Pokemon. Like upgrade that shit to a really in-depth RPG. All regions available (including Orre) and all Pokemon avaliable. And make the Pokemon more realistic looking. And add glitch Pokemon as part of the game.

Just think of it. A level 100 Alakazam tearing up buildings and chucking them at opponents. YES.

Man, I'd totally buy, like, a TF2-styled class-based multiplayer shooter- only with a huge crossover cast of characters like MvC or Smash Bros. MUGEN-like templates for additional classes, server control over which classes are and aren't allowed- basically, an incredibly over-the-top FPS MUGEN. Or maybe some other genre- a turn-based RPG wouldn't be all that difficult for such a thing, as long as the mechanics were kept generalized to allow for loads of different characters. The MUGEN engine itself could probably be used to make a pretty fun platformer, actually.
Basically, something that lowers the barrier of entry for character design, allowing fan works to proliferate. Somethin' like that.

EDIT: Also yeah, a "complete" pokemon title that just took the enormous existing bestiary and built a huge console game around that. No more "versions" that exist only to introduce another hundred or so- a real effort to make something unique with what they have available. The games set in Orre were a good start, but they failed to utilize most of the handheld games' non-battle mechanics- wild pokemon (no, poke spots do not count) and capturing, bicycles and HM moves, some tactile world interaction... the Gamecube Pokemon games were great, but they definitely could've been... bigger.

Also pokemon snap 2 because come the fuck on why is this not already a thing

Yeah, Nintendo not making this for the Wii or DS is unacceptable.

You literally had the perfect systems for it what the hell.

They can't make a Pokemon Snap on the Wii or DS because to do that they'll need huge controller with too many buttons to make the game impossible to play for kids with small hands. And that's like half the game.

    Oooh, ooh, I know!
    I know!

    Half Life 2:Episode 3!

    Dohohohohohoohohohooho,

But back to something ACTUALLY possible, I've always wanted an open world game that could actually really react to changes you make.
Sorta like and Elder Scrolls crossed with Minecraft sorta thing.
A Minecraft with RPG gameplay, rather.
But it'd be REALLY hard to pull off right...

Actually, I'd like to see that kind of thing in an FPS. Fracture tried, but they failed horribly at writing and their campaign sucked. Like...Bad Company + Fracture + Valve writing.

Actually, I'd like to see a console FPS that puts some effort into its campaign. That would be good. Also well done, interesting, LOCAL coop.

That is wrong. The 3DS has 6 buttons plus the stick, D pad, and start + select. As well as the touch screen and the ability to move the 3DS. Moving the 3DS in OoT3DS was an alternative way to aim the bow/hookshot. This could be done in a Pokemon Snap 3DS as well.

I want a game where you are the evil henchman. Not the villain, just a guy in his evil group. It would end with the hero killing you. Nobody is upset that you are dead. You were just generic henchman 226 after all.

They had that in City of Villains minus the dying at the end. Originally, you had to get a supervillain to level 50, to unlock the chance to play as a basic goon for the game's more prominent villain groups. That's right, you had to reach demigod status to unlock the chance to play as a basic mortal man. And it was amazing. There'd be entire parties of Arachnos soldiers ganking solo heroes in Siren's Call. I miss those days.

As for a game I wish existed? The perfect MMO... I'm not sure what all would be in it, but one that actually meets all expectations and isn't met with pages upon pages of entitled whining upon release. Impossible, I know, but one can dream.

I'm baffled that this doesn't already exist because it seems so obvious: A game where you play as a shapeshifter who can imitate his enemies. Could be a Western RPG or a platformer (whereby it'd probably turn into a hack-and-slash with a great deal of variety), or could be an Eastern RPG (whereby it'd probably end up being a pokemon-like thing where you "collect" forms to shift into, either by killing enemies or just by meeting them). Could even be a Metal Gear-style stealth game. Shit has all kinds of potential is what I'm saying.

The closest approximations I've seen are FFTA (where shapeshifters are a difficult-to-use and sort of lame gimmick class), and some Xbox game where you were limited to about six different forms. It'd take a great deal of extra production effort to be able to transform into all (or most) of the creatures featured in a typical kill-the-monsters game, but it'd be such a powerful selling point that I can see one of the big game studios taking that risk. And intuitively it feels like it could turn into a completely horrible game-design clusterfuck, but having given it a lot of thought, I can see a lot of ways to turn it into a workable game. So, yeah, kind of bizarre that this doesn't exist yet.

    Pokemon Blue/Red ---> Catch Ditto ---> Profit.

I'm just kidding. I see what you mean and I would actually like a game like that too. I think it would be pretty awesome in a hack-n-slash where you just morph like crazy throwing all kinds of wild moves all over the place.
