You make a good point... Still, I wouldn't be that surprised if she did die. She just seems like an uninteresting character to me, and something unexpected like her death might be why she was introduced in the first place. Like Tavros: He himself didn't really do much, rather tragic things happening to him set other things in motion.

Even if you grant that she was slated for death as a character, its too early in the narrative for that. She hasn't done anything or formed relationships with anybody. If she dies now, the only person affected is Quinn. So yeah. Arms is right. She has narrative protection, I think.

If I wanted her to die, I would do it in a way that made you think that she wasn't going to die, because it was stylistically set so that she wouldn't. That is, I would make it seem like she was going to die, without actually doing it, so people like you would say, "Oh, there's no way she's actually going to die." Then BAM! The next panel is a cutaway. And when you return to Liz' perspective, oops, she has no perspective, because she died while we weren't watching.

It's much more terrifying to imagine someone dying. That's why this [s] update worked, because you can imagine that he's going to kill her. That said, the next panel either has to be Liz not dying, or a cutaway to someone else. Or her dead body. But showing the act of killing at this point would be a little inartistic.
