For those unmoved by socialization and knowledge, there are also offers of free food and sweet loot.

You approach the most obvious font of information, the newsboard. "NEWS" is scrawled helpfully at the top. Whoever wrote it didn't center the letter properly and hastily scribbled a smiley face to fill the gap.
It leers at you as you peruse the offerings.
Your sharp instincts quickly tell you to ignore the posters and read the REAL gem of data, the sock.
It says "Fruit of the Loom". You are learning much already.

Your poetic instincts (an entirely different thing than sharp instincts) give rise to the whimsical conceit of plucking this so-called "Fruit".
That or you need an excuse to indulge your kleptomania.
