You are most certainly Human. In fact, you are not even sure why such a thing would be in doubt.
A few hours ago that fellow who is now sleeping in front of your [CLASSIFIED: CODE 26] had the nerve to say otherwise.
Well... what he said was more along the lines of [BEGIN PLAYBACK: "My god... that old fool was actually telling the truth! A goddamned Vault! Wait, who's there!? What are you? Some kind of robot? Oh no, NONONONONONO! (UNINTELLIGIBLE SCREAMING) [PLAYBACK ENDS]

All you wanted to do was introduce yourself, but when you went to shake his hand, he started making lots of noise and then went to sleep.
You wonder why.

But that is in the past, about 4 days in the past to be exact. You have been waiting for him to wake up since then.
Recently though you have been getting bored. You have guarded your [CLASSIFIED: CODE 26] for as long as you can remember. And after 400 years you are ready for a change in scenery.
You remember one of your visitors mentioning something about a town to the North-East as he was rudely firing his weapon at you, so that seems like as good a place to start as any.

But first you should take care of any unfinished business here, and then think up a good name to go by when you start your new life.

But first, a name! You remember a man with an accent calling you Bodach Rocais once, but no one will want to hang out with someone who calls themselves a scarecrow!
You put the first two words you think of next together: Garden Lain. Perfect, you will be the envy of all the girls with such a pretty name!

As you set out for the distant town, you find yourself hoping the journey won't be to eventful. You know from experience that these sands can harbor all sorts of danger.

You check your bag of HUMAN POSSESSIONS. Mostly its just cans of food, just in case you get hungry. You also take your friend's protective mask, cause' the desert is a harsh place.
After searching the bottom of the bag you also find your special lotion. The desert is always hard on your NORMAL HUMAN JOINTS.

You don't remember the last time you were hungry, but the sudden urge to eat sand overwhelms you.
Unfortunately, Your human fingers are to thin and sharp to contain any sand! All you manage to do is make some gashes in the ground.

You march for hours towards the city, stopping occasionally to apply your lotion.
Along the way you think about all the cute boys you will meet. Maybe one of them will even ask you to the prom!

Make it a point to examine yourself closely in a reflective surface when the opportunity presents itself.

You are sure that someone will have a mirror you can use within the town. After all, you want to make sure you are looking your best!
As you approach the town's gate, you see a lone guard keeping watch. You don't think he has seen you yet, as the hood and cloak you are wearing blend into the sands quite well.

Contemplate the last time you saw your human family

The last person you remember is a serious looking man in an funny looking hat thanking you for volunteering for something. You don't remember what though.
You don't know if you are related to the man, but he is the only person you can think of.

As you approach the gate, the guard starts smiling. Upside down.

> Do an interpretive dance to communicate that you'd like to be let in through the gate.

You briefly contemplate doing an elaborate and hard to draw interprative dance to ask for entry, but then you realize that you can talk.

You are now the guard. An 8 foot tall robot has just walked up to your post, waved a hand made of what looks like knives at you, and then said "HELLO" in the most terrifying voice you have ever heard.
While robots are not uncommon in town, this one gives you a bad feeling. Of course, you are fond of your insides not being spilled out onto the sand, so you just nod and move to open the gate.

You move in closer to the guard to shake his hand and to thank him for letting you in.
He shakes his head rapidly, and stammers "I-It's n-no problem... s-sir? Just go on in. PLEASE."

That is awesome to hear, thanks! I like the chalk style as well, but for anything but landscapes it takes a while to make it look good.
I may still do an update in that style from time to time though.
Here, have some concept art I did when I first had the idea to do this adventure a month or so ago.

Photoshop has a brush called "charcoal large smear" that just blends two colors depending on the pressure you apply to the stylus if you are using a tablet to draw.

Sir indeed! You decide that this guard is not worth even your unfriendlyest handshake!
As you walk past him, you notice that his armor is made up of old sports equiptment.
What kind of town can't even afford to keep it's protectors well equipped?

Ah well, it does not matter to you! you just want to make some new friends to hang out with, maybe you can even go shopping!

Then you see the town.

By their standards its probably a thriving little hub of commerce, but you can't help but feel dissapointed when you notice that aside from the cluster street vendors off to your left, the largest shop is a small single story general store.

It looks like there are a few buildings of note that you could go and visit. There also appears to be a MYSTERIOUS STRANGER leaning in the shade provided by the closest building.
