You need to pick up the pace, but you really don't know what else you can do. You are currently using a child as a crutch, so you are limited to however fast he can go, and you are getting the feeling that he could go a lot faster without you. So in all likelyhood, you are the limiting factor.

You manage to pull yourself up to your feet, and lean against a nearby lamppost. You attempt to point your sword at the boy in a threatening manner, but you're pretty sure that lazily waving it in his direction for about a second before letting it fall at your side again doesn't come across as threatening.

Great, you've been reduced to threatening a child, and you can't even do that right.

Somehow, you manage not to call 911 on the girl's phone. Maybe it was the way she waved her sword at you; anyone in that state that can still use a sword is someone you want to be careful around.

You look at the phone and after a quick search find the redial button. A name and a number pop up. At least, a title and a number pop up. The Troubadour, huh? You have no clue what that means.

You give him the nearest intersection, and and he hangs up. Guess you just have to wait.

You turn to Victoria, ready to hand her phone back, only to see her chin gently resting on her chest. Guess she dozed off. Not for the first time, you wonder who this really is, and what she did to get into this situation. Her eyes have closed, but she seems to be muttering something.

While you haven't seen many movies, those that you have seen have taught you several things. One of them is that letting the heavily injured person sleep could result in a serious case of them-not-waking-up-again syndrome, so you set about trying to make sure that doesn't happen. Unfortunately, despite your best efforts of proding, poking and shaking, she seems to be completely unwilling to awaken. You hope her friend isn't going to be long.

You have a fondness for the FANTASTICAL, and keep a large collection of FANTASY and SCI-FI MOVIES, BOOKS, AND COMICSGRAPHIC NOVELS. You also are a quite talented MUSICIAN, and play both the GUITAR and SAXOPHONE quite well. You are, through no fault of your own, considered quite CHARMING and ATTRACTIVE by many of the FEMALE PERSUASION. You would never take advantage of this, but you do keep to a PERSONAL CHIVALROUS CODE that states that every woman is a beautiful flower that should be treated as such. Unfortunately, most do not see you PLATONIC COMPLIMENTS as very PLATONIC, and often get THE WRONG IDEA. So while you consider yourself AN UTMOST GENTLEMAN, most of the ladies you have had the pleasure of knowing consider you something of a HEARTBREAKER.

But I suppose you wish to get on with your current problems. Oh, it seems you have the car keys. But oh, look at that, no valid driver's liscense. You suppose it isn't too far a walk to where Victoria is, but if things are serious you run the risk of being late...

You check the small pile of stuff you've thrown by the door already. Well, really its just the very untidy first aid kit that opened when you threw it over there, but it amounts to the samet thing. You look at the keys again. You have been learning to drive, but always with an adult like your stepfather in the car. This would be, if you went through with it, your first time behind the wheel without a copilot. Not to mention your already mentioned LACK OF A VALID DRIVER'S LISCENCE. Getting pulled over would just waste more time. But if Victoria isn't in a condition to move on her own...

A thought occurs to you. "Not me" she said when you pressed for details. Does that mean that someone else is involved? You wonder if you should bring something to ward off attackers. But what around you house would be suitable as a weapon?

Alright guys, I'm drawing quite a blank on what to arm this guy with, so I'm leaving it up to you! Assume that this is the average middle class household, so no weapon's vault like Victoria has. Whatever is most popular (or barring that, whatever I like best) will be assumed to have always been in the house.

You briefly consider wielding an axe, but then realize that you could only get about one good hit with a guitar before it is rendered useless. And you couldn't very well defend a lady with a weapon only worth one hit, could you? That is entirely what fuels your decision, and no personal connection with an instrument that no human being could approximate.

Eventually, you stumble across the cane that you think might have been from that musical you were in in high school. Never did give it back. Oops. Well, either way, it seems sturdy enough, probably more than enough to deal with whatever trouble Victoria might have gotten herself into.

You now find yourself in the GARAGE. There are several piles of GENERIC CLUTTER, one of which your GENTLEMANLY CANE was fetched from, scattered about. There is also a WORKBENCH that is used solely by your stepfather either to for building or repair of MODELS OF VARIOUS MODES OF TRANSPORTATION. A half finished WWII FIGHTER PLANE lies on top of it, with VARIOUS SMALL TOOLS scattered around it.

Taking up the largest portion of the garage is taken up by the FAMILY STATION WAGON, an older model (you neither know nor care which) with red paint that is pealing in some places. Despite its SLIGHTLY RUN-DOWN APPEARANCE, the vehicle PERFORMS QUITE WELL. You are currently standing in front of the door, cane in one hand and first aid kit in another, looking at the vehicle and debating with yourself. If you take it, you run the risk of getting in trouble with the local authorities, as your current LEARNER'S PERMIT requires you to have a fully liscenced passenger in the car. However, if you go on foot you might not make it to Victoria in time, and you have no guarantee that she is in any condition to move under her own power.

You don't have any more time. You jump into the driver's seat and are about to start the car when your phone begins to ring. You hurry to pick it up, anxious about further developments on the situation. You discover, to partial relief and partial annoyance, that it is just another friend messaging you. Not even on PesterChum, but some stupid client that you're pretty sure only he uses.

Thankful for the end to that distraction, you turn the key in the ignition. Ensuring that you remembered both the cane and first aid kit, you press the garage door opener, and have to wait an annoyingly long period of time before you can peel out of the driveway in a suitably dramatic fashion.
